This was an interesting two-night stay for our family since there were some really great things about the hotel and also some really not-so-great things about the experience. From the start, we booked this hotel based on the photos of the indoor water park at the facility. We also did not see the negative reviews of this place on Expedia until afterward.
The hotel has definitely been renovated recently and in a really good way. In addition, the rooms are larger than average. I don't describe the hotel as "dirty" in general. However, there are signs of minor damage and debris in the room and around the property that take a little bit away from the comfort of the place. But it doesn't ruin what is overall a good hotel.
The water park is definitely falling into disrepair. It wasn't as bad as I pictured based on the descriptions I read here. However, it isn't as pictured in the provided photos of the property, either. It's neat and just needs a thorough refreshing to bring back.
The most frustrating part of our stay came at the end when we noticed 3 different charges from Holiday Inn totaling about $275 on our debit card. That's on top of the $320 we paid to Expedia at time of booking. The $100 incidental hold still hasn't been refunded two days later, but there is no explanation for separate charges of $113 and $65 from our stay. Even if these are holds, that's a lot! I'm awaiting explanation today.
