I almost don't want to review!
This place is awesome. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this is a great place to stay. Very clean inside and the staff is great. Rates are great, especially in October which is when I go. The parking lot could be difficult if you're driving something big like an Expedition, but it's no problem for my car. I'm hesitant to review because I don't want it to be sold out next year!

Did the trick!
Booked after season for a one night stay to be able to get back north for a wild horse tour. The area is a bit deserted and it was the closest in the area without having to go yet further after 45 minutes of driving. We had a nice little room in a 2 room cottage. Loved the quick access to the beach too. Served us well.

Location is great by the beach.
This is an older motel with an assigned parking space in front of your door. The room itself was large but the bathroom was cramped. The bed was comfortable. The room was very clean. The shower had consistently hot water with good water pressure. The beach is very conveniently located right across the street from the motel. The office staff was friendly and provided good advice on nearby restaurants.

Great Location
I checked in rather late and was only staying one night so I wasn't too concerned that I couldn't get the TV to work. The lady at the desk was very pleasant and it was quiet.

Motel has seen better days and is in an old area with good beach access. It is adequate for a beach place. Not too far from food and sight seeing.

The room was very clean, and the staff was super friendly and was willing to help in any way. It was right on the beach with good access. We would stay there again.

Retro and pretty wonderful.
It is just like the motels I remember from the beach vacations of my childhood. It's clean and spartan with no wasted space, and once we changed our mindset we really started to enjoy it. The pool is very clean and large which is a big plus for me. You can sit outside and listen to the surf while you drink your morning coffee and get to know your neighbors who are outside doing the same. It's been a long time since I have felt so relaxed.

Pleasant Surprise
This motel is of the older variety, but neat, clean, quiet spacious rooms with rocking chairs out front. This is for the more middle class family, not for those that feel they need to be waited on. Tile floors for easy cleanijg of the sand that can be carried in from the across the street beach. The towels were almost as good as the Double Tree. A ten cup coffee maker in the room! We were just an overnight stay so didn't use the kitchen area. Its less tan 25 yards to the few steps leadong over the sand berm to the gentle sloping sand to the beach. This area of beach, to me, is nicer than that found at Atlantic Beach. It is 2 blocks off of the main highway. Several shops were in that area. A Walmart shopping center was 3 miles away. We would do this again.

Old-fashioned motel close to the beach.
The room was spartan. Bathroom was tiny, kitchen was tiny -- but very close to the beach. The rooms were quiet, which for me was very important. Overall, I was satisfied. Think "1950s," but with WiFi (which I didn't use).

good deal clses to the beach
as long as you are expecting an older 50s style you'll be fine with this motel. to get 2 full bedrooms for the price is great. well equipped, comfortable enough beds, space to move. and enough coffee for a 10 cup pot!

A nice hotel with easy beach access.
The hotel was very clean and well maintained. We had easy access to the beach or we could enjoy the pool. The pool area was well maintained. It was centrally located for us to sight see going i either direction.

We stayed just one night as we were passing through. It was easy to find with a great location. It is rather old but very clean. It was well worth the money.

Weekend getaway
The motel was right across the street from the beach, which was nice. Everybody who worked there was very kind and polite. They let us check out a little later so we could go to church. It's an old motel, but everything was clean; it served our purpose of having a room close to everything (especially the ocean) that was clean and comfortable.

Very clean family run
Room was very cramped, bathroom is way to small, no way you can dress in there so if you have other people with you not sure how you would make it work. Overall very clean and the Maint. Man is nice to talk too

Kitty Hawk Getaway
The room was comfortable and clean. The refrigerator and microwave worked well too. One thing that bothered me was the cooking odors from our neighbor's room. We had to leave for awhile, so we went outside. The front door to our room needed some work and had an opening to the outside, where rain got it during the storm.

Rooms are clean!!!
My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. This was our first stay here and we will be coming back. It's across the street from the beach. And the staff was friendly. Most of all, the room was very clean and we can tell they take care of the property.

Funky 50's Motel on the OBX Beach!
I've never been to the Outer Banks (OBX) and had a great first experience! The Bucaneer Motel is a blast from the past and no doubt one of the last remaining independently owned motels on Virginia Dare Trail that has not been razed and replaced by a multi-million dollar condo or hotel chain. Now having said that, the property (built in the 50's?) is well maintained. The location can't be beat with a short walk over the dune to the beach. There is also a nice, crystal clean pool and deck area. The rooms are dated, but clean. The kitchenette is a nice plus with full size refridgerator, stove/oven, microwave. The air conditioners worked well. I even used their clothes washer/dryer facility! Had a great stay...Kathleen the manager was friendly and available 24/7 to meet the customers needs. If you like new construction and modern decor, this is not the place for you. I recommend staying at the Bucaneer Motel for families on a budget, if you want to be close to the beach, prepare meals on your own and chill-out on your deck or living room.

Diamond in the rough
Wasn't expecting much for the price I paid but when we pulled in it put a smile on my face! Quaint hotel, perfectly sized pool for the boys, 20 seconds from the beach! We had a great time! They even had a kids play area and a basketball hoop. Comfy and clean rooms with 2 televisions and utensils and plates. Looking forward to next summer...

Summer Vacation
My family of 3 had a wonderful experience here! Great location, and clean pool. We would stay again! The only cons were our bathroom was very small and the door would not open all the way, and the sheets had a couple of stains(though they were clean). Overall, great experience!

Quaint and close to the beach.
Reasonably priced and very close to the beach. Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. Not a fancy high class hotel, but a friendly, get to know your neighbors beach motel with a kitchen and a swimming pool. There are rocking chairs outside the rooms for enjoying the evening and just passing the time.

Great price
Smelled funny but we love are stay and how close to the water we were. We will be going back next year
