One of the best parts of running our lodge is having guests return from past years. We've had some that have stayed with us in the 1990's, coming back many times and seeing how our lodge has changed and evolved. Having this type of "mom and pop" business guarantees that things will change over the years. For some guests they do miss the way things used to be when my wife and I were working and present full-time and spent hours with our guests. And it can be sad for them and for us, the changes we've had since the early days. Health reasons necessitated my wife retire and live away from the lodge, and with that came a manager that can represent our lodge very well...but it's still not the same. We stopped doing dinners at the coffeehouse when there started to be very good local options in nearby Healy. Sled dog kennel tours still ran this summer but dogs were not present on the grounds most of the time which helped keep down evening canine noise. A plus for many visitors. Some changes implemented are very positive from this guest's previous visit: walkways to all the buildings/cabins, dog barn in the kennel for better sled and equipment display, kiosk that replaced the outside communal fridge with one inside along with microwave and coffeemaker, better (but not always!) wifi on the property, better landscaping, better cabin amenities. So while it is a little different staying at EarthSong in 2023 than 2012, it still is the quiet scenic alternative to the commercial tourism found at the park entrance. And that is what we've always aimed to offer. And something we hope will always be found at EarthSong even as we continue to change in the future.

Hi Deborah, we are sorry to hear that you did not fully enjoy your stay at EarthSong. All of our cabins do have a step up or down to the showers and bathtubs. Your cabin in particular does have a sign on the bathroom door informing guests of this single step down. For anyone booking with us in the future please keep this in mind and again we apologize we were not better able to serve you.
