Hello Heidi! Thank you for the feedback. My name is Finn, I'm the owner. I'm sorry you didn't sleep well. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised to hear this. The queen mattress in your room is relatively new. We also use very high-end spa-grade bedding/pillows in our rooms, too. This is also the first I've heard of that bed not being "comfortable". Again, apologies. I did just check the bed, and it seems as if everything is just fine.I wish the mattress had been more to your liking. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and supporting our small family business. On our website, we inform our guests that this is not the quietest room in our boutique inn. We have the finest restaurant & bar in the region. It is a very popular destination with guests, tourists, and locals, alike. As such, it can be a noisier location until 10-11 pm. Know this, we try very hard to keep things quieter for guests staying in room 8. Despite this, we do hope that you enjoyed your stay with us at our historic inn, and had a great time at our restaurant. We hope the noise wasn't a terrible inconvenience. Alice, it was wonderful having you stay with us. To be honest, though, our hotel is very reasonably priced. We are a 3-star hotel, a National Historic Landmark, with the very best in-house restaurant & bar in the region. We have a lovely outdoor beer garden and a world class private balcony overlooking the historic town of Groveland. Are rooms are clean and well kept. The bedding and towels are spa grade. You will spend MORE staying at a local MOTEL. The only other hotel in our category in town is on average 75-100 or more for a room that is virtually identical to ours. The 2 resorts in the region will charge you over 400-600 a night and an added 50 for breakfast. We are sorry you felt this way. But, in fact, we are a wonderful hotel, a small family business, and a FANTASTIC value. Our hotel is a memorable experience. Thank you for supporting our small family business. Our hotel is BEAUTIFUL and very well maintained. It is a 102-year-old hotel. It is not brand new. The room you stayed in has new mattresses, a lovely clawfoot tub and shower, and spa-quality bedding and towels. We have a professional housekeeping staff that follows strict cleaning protocols. We are a national historic landmark with the finest in-house restaurant & bar in the region. In fairness, this review is unduly critical. I'm sorry you did not enjoy your 1 night stay with us. But, the vast majority of our guests simply LOVE the authenticity of our special little inn. It would have been nice if you had contacted us directly before leaving this review. Our hotel is not, though, as you describe. We are a small family business and we take great pride in doing everything we can to provide our guests with a unique and memorable experience. Hello Gillian! Thank you for the 10 out of 10! It was a joy hosting you. FYI: there are 2 entrances to our back parking lot. One is the alleyway you describe. The second entrance is far easier to navigate. Only a 1/4 block down the street you can enter and exit by the car wash. It is a wide driveway both in & out. It is the "truck route". Our hotel is a 102-year-old nationally recognized historic landmark. We have smaller rooms that are quite comfortable and a great value. We also have family suites and deluxe rooms with ample space to spread out. Our special little inn has it all! We look forward to hosting you again in the future. Cheers!
