This is our third stay at the Pensacola Grand Hotel. We like the history and character of it. This trip we stayed in 1107. Nice room. The bathroom had a few issues. The shower drips constantly and the toilet (as every toilet in The Pensacola Grand Hotel seems to have) does not flush well.
Another problem we experienced with the room was that the refrigerator was unplugged. When we plugged it in, which wasn't so easy because the chest it was set in was so large, we realized the fridge didn't click on. The reason, we discovered, was that the temperature adjustment knob was missing. We could not increase the temperature. We only had some bottled water and cream to have with our morning coffee, but the fridge was not cold at all. Food would have spoiled.
Another very annoying issue we experienced was when the alarm in 1108 went off at 8:30 pm. I called the front desk, no answer, so I called the operator. I told them the room next door had an alarm going off and the operator promised to tell someone. 20 minutes later I called again, and this time, talked to Cory at the front desk. He said he would send maintenance up to turn it off. All said and done, we had to listen to an alarm going off for more than 30 minutes after our original call. Pretty annoying.
We love this old hotel but this trip wasn't so great. The thermostat had a mind of its own, with settings fluctuating from the 60's to 82. Not sure what was causing that. The train was loud this trip, too.
