I have vacationed in Florence many times and decided to try a different hotel from our usual beautiful place near the Duomo. Selected the Bernini because of VIP recognition.
Upon check-in, I asked about room upgrades, I booked 2 rooms. They provided a number of options for upgrades along with hefty prices. Obviously there was plenty availability. I opted out. Normally, a gifted bottle of wine is given with VIP stays, especially when no room upgrade is given. A welcome drink was provided upon check-in.
The hotel has an internal evaluation of services after check in. After reading my comments about the isolated old rooms we received and lack of VIP benefits and leaking shower they offered an upgrade. I turned it down because of the hassle of relocating and only 1 night left.
The hotel and lobby are very nicely decorated for the holidays. Staff are all very professionally dressed but not always pleasant. Some at times are a bit rude.
The location was good and so was breakfast.
I would not stay here again mainly for their lack of customer service and no VIP benefits.
