After a thigh injury some years ago, I'm somewhat disabled. I can walk easily on reasonably flat surfaces, but steps up and down are problematic. Stairs are just about manageable with a handrail, really difficult without.
I chose this hotel after carefully scrutinising several other options in the area, because the photographs showed walk-in showers which are much easier for me than a shower over a bath.
There was no hint at all that access to the hotel itself would be an issue.
When I arrived, I realised that the entrance was up a steep set of historic steps with no handrail. There was no sign at all of how to get to any accessible entrance.
I struggled up the steps and the concierge explained that because of the building's historic status, they are not allowed to add a handraill. But that doesn't explain why they can't have any information about access.
The concierge later showed me how to use the accessible entrance to get out of the building. He gave me instructions about how to use the keypad to get back in. There is a phone number on the keypad that is incorrect. There are no other instructions.
The instructions that the concierge gave me were incorrect, and nobody answered the hotel's phone. I had to struggle back up the difficult steps. There was a different concierge on duty, but I realised the the concierge desk is positioned so that the concierge cannot see whether anyone is struggling to get in.
