Hello Tamar & Refaell Needless to say, we were expecting such a review from you and in this instance we are pleased that we have the opportunity to respond to your comments. Your reservation to stay with us was problematic from the start. You booked through Expedia/Hotels.com, then booked again for the same period for the same room type. We contacted you in this regard and you confirmed that you required only the one room. A few days prior to your arrival, we were contacted by Expedia with the request to reduce your stay from 3 nights to 2 without any penalty charge. We agreed to this willingly. Then to your comments ... Hide Away Guest House is indeed old. It is a historical building recognised by the Historical Society of Knysna which information is displayed on the plaque we have mounted on the wall right next to the room you had. We do not advertise that the balcony is private with this room type. Had you booked one of our Superior Rooms upstairs this would most certainly have been possible. We are sorry that you felt that the room smelt old - it was in fact redecorated only 9 months ago and we have an extremely stringent cleaning regime which includes regular Ozone purification by virtue of the fact that we live close to the water. We do in fact advertise that we are on the Main Road into Knysna but traffic subsides substantially from 19.00. We are sorry if you were unable to sleep. Sorry but we have no control over the weather. In fact as I sit and reply to your review, it is 17 degrees C and raining, so in fact much worse than when you were here. We are quite sure that you appreciate that we are happy to see the rain with your coming from Israel which relies on desalinated water all the time. Hopefully the rest of your time in South Africa met your expectations.. Kind regards Colleen Harding

Hello Linda Thanks for taking the time to do the review on your stay with us. In response to your comment about the seclusion of the property - we in fact used to be very secluded but a large amount of vegetation around the property was burnt during the horrendous fires we experienced in Knysna in June 2017! Fortunately our home survived and eventually the plants and trees will grow to their previous glory. We are quite taken aback by your comments about the Garden Route. We cannot quite recall what other areas you visited whilst on the Garden Route or your complete itinerary in South Africa for you to make this comment. Good morning Nicholas and Mandy We are disappointed by your 3/5 rating as we generally rate between 4 and 5/5. We certainly accept the fact that we do not meet everybody's expectations all the time. It would have been helpful if you had indicated exactly what it was that you found us falling short on as we would then be able to see what needs to be improved and/or changed. We note that you stayed in our Standard Room with no lagoon view. Had you stayed in a lagoon facing room you may have had an altogether difference experience. We have just recently had our four star grading by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa and successfully passed. We would sincerely appreciate you making contact with us directly to share the specific areas of concern you had so that we may address them to ensure we do not receive a similar review. Hi there Noam Thanks for the quick review of your stay with us. Since your stay, the outlook from Hide Away has changed somewhat as a result of the fires we experienced on 7th June. The lovely conifer trees in the car park have not survived and so we are looking at alternative options to take their place! Hope to see you back in South Africa again - not in 13 years time!
