Loved this hotel, beautiful old building. Room was clean and the shower was huge ! Also there is a very good breakfast choice. We would definitely stay there again. Highly recommended

There are some delightful old rooms in the original parts of the building. The rest of the rooms are fairly new and there is nothing particularly distinctive about them. Bathroom fittings are very modern, bed comfortable with good quality bedlinen. There is a very good range of breakfast items.

Quaint but disappointing
We stayed in a suite which looked lovely on arrival, but really is need of a lot of maintenance - we reported some issues to the staff and they were not apologetic. The breakfast was good but we had to ask for new crockery as it was dirty.

We were a triffle disappointed! The condition of the rooms were very tired. Cleanliness was not not up scratch. The member of who stayed in 214 on the second night was very pleased with the standard of the room. The breakfast on the second morning was superior to the first and the service too . Would return to a newly refurbished room

Nice hotel. Quirky room with a nice history. Shower had seen better days. If you like privacy then bear in mind that room 12 has an open toilet and bathroom, you can hear everything! Bed was OK but very very soft. Fairly quiet until someone decided to empty a load of bottles into the bin outside our room at 8am! Nice breakfast only let down by a mouldy orange in the fruit bowl at the buffet table. Bed

Overnight stop
Overnight stop for early appointment at Harefield hospital which meant we left at 06.45 but the staff were great and still managed to provided coffee and food to takeaway .Room was in new annex and was quiet and very clean and comfortable.Also easy parking a big bonus in Amersham.Bar Recommend this hotel.

I feel bad that I can't remember her name, but the waiter who served us the morning of our check-out was incredibly helpful and friendly. She went to your neighboring property to obtain some Vegemite for my sister! She's a real keeper. I believe her name started with a 'K', like Karine. We loved our stay, and would return in a heartbeat.

We wanted to stay here followed a lunch visit a few years ago, we love properties with charm and we appreciate old architecture, however our stay was underwhelmed by the lack of cleanliness in the room. It was very dusty and we even found some trash in the can from previous guests. We think that the only thing saving this hotel is its staff, everyone was so warm and engaging. We will not go back to stay but maybe to enjoy a classic English meal in a few years.

Definite must to stay if in the area.
A lovely relaxing stay on a little two night escape. just the job , lovely room , excellent breakfasts and one evening meal we enjoyed. Close to lots of lovely shops, walks and eateries . Quaint village with a beautiful church and gardens, huge carpark for guests so a win win all round.

Good place to stay for a night or two. I wouldn’t rate room 303 as floor is very uneven and very little gap on one side of the bed. Bed was comfortable. Room needs some attention ie curtain does not work as pulley broken. Stairs up to room are extremely creaky (quite loud). Staff were polite and helpful and a good choice of breakfast cooked and presented well.

Great hotel with wonderful service especially in the breakfast room. The room was comfortable and inviting. The only complaint was excessive noise coming from under the bedroom window with guests drinking until late into the evening on the outdoor patio with no regard for others.

Offered to take up bags a nice touch. Food was fabulous some of the best we had every dish was nice. Breakfast excellent too. Powerful bath water pressure Staff friendly and attentive. Soya/oat milk in room would be nice for tea/coffee for those lactose intolerant Very noisy outside shouldn't let people congregate so late outside making noise at 2am - should ask people to be more respectful and keep noise down. Also dragging empty bottles from the bar that late by bar staff wakes People up should be done in the morning.

We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by 2 lovely reception staff who were very helpful, informative and friendly through our stay, Carina was also very caring about our requests, my only comment would be about the breakfast on Monday morning was not cooked very well and overheard other customers complaints, I relayed this to Carina and she said quite rightly I should have told her, an asset to your company, Otherwise 9 out of ten!

Excellent friendly receptionists, housekeeper and cleaning staff. Furniture a little worn, couldn’t open wardrobe door to see full length mirror and was noisy as could overhear staff conversations outside and other guests. Bathroom excellent. Would definitely book again!

We stayed in the converted barn and the room was very quirky but comfortable. Bathroom was a little tight with toilet so close to the door and sink but clean. Excellent touches with wine on arrival and plenty of hot tea/coffee sachets.

Delightful hotel, beautiful and full of character. Been several times and like it each time. We went on the bank holiday unfortunately the restaurant was closed so had to take breakfast at the Crown which was just as nice.

Beautiful but disappointing
A stunning looking hotel, Tudor in style and lovely oldie worldly inside as you’d imagine. We were satiating in Room 1, a suite with a mezzanine floor and a spare bed. Lovely room, clean and very comfortable until we looked out of the huge window where we found several cobwebs. On using the bathroom for the first time I went to wash my hands and the whole one piece tap unit moved in all directions and wasn’t secure. My partners children were in a different part of the hotel, more contemporary block but sadly the shower area was very mouldy.

Amazing in Amersham.
A tastefully decorated and spacious bedroom with a very comfortable bed. I had a great nights sleep in a pleasantly quiet neighbourhood. Plenty of parking with a much appreciated two charging points for EV’s. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant. I had a gourmet type burger for dinner; it was mountainous and very tasty. Breakfast has a good range of dishes to choose from and the smoked salmon and scrambled egg was perfect. I would most definitely stay here again.

Not the best, probably wouldn’t rebook
Not the best evening away. Nice old hotel, but lacking some attention. Lighting really bad in the room, not all lights working and bathroom mirror light broken which was probably going to be the only useful light source. Coffee machine gave a dribble of coffee which was disappointing after my initial joy of seeing the nespresso pods. Very loud conversation coming through the floor boards way past midnight was disturbing and aided the insomnia, along with a very early morning bottle bin collection.

Disappointing stay, could be so much better.
A disappointing stay. Was in a junior suite that is on 2 levels with the bedroom upstairs. The room and bathroom are quite tired and the whole suite was very dusty, had multiple cobwebs on the walls, the carpet had bits all over it and the bed cover looked and felt quite grubby. The suite could be really nice but needs some investment for a modernisation. The lighting is an example. If you needed to use the bathroom in the night you have to put on both the very bright chandelier in the bedroom as well as the lights downstairs, which is not ideal to say the least (it is pitch black downstairs so you need some light). Furthermore one person has no access to the lights as the switch is just one side of the bed so bring a torch. The furniture is old fashioned and there is only a lamp and table one side of the bed. The security safe in the wardrobe was broken, the window blind would not raise up as the mechanism is broken and there are no hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes on. There is also no towel ring or rail by the sink for a hand towel. There were bottles of water, wine and snacks but no indication in the room whether they complimentary or charged for. Finally, we stayed 2 nights and the bed was not made. We had to make it ourselves when we got back in the evening for our 2nd night. The bathroom had had the towels refolded so a bit confused why the bed was not made (there was no impediment to it being made). The room isn't up to a 4 star hotel standard in my view.

Great stay, bad sleep but would stay again!
Brilliant stay, only downside was the fire alarm blazing for a minute around midnight after being a sleep for 30 mins left me feeling a bit disorientated and had a bad nights sleep after that. But these things can happen anywhere. Hotel was clean, warm, comfy, breakfast was great, staff friendly, free parking a bonus and was easy to find. Would definitely stay again!

Lots of character. Beautiful historical stay
Beautiful character hotel. Full of history. I requested a particular suit and we were given the exact one I asked for . Very warm room. Nice shower and bath. Comfortable bed. The only thing I would add -the room could do with a bit of cleaning of old features-window, beams, some spider webs here and there but it didn’t bother us much. The room is positioned above the kitchen so you can hear noises in the kitchen from about 4.30am. It’s a historical building and I’m sure that nothing can be done about this but it’s something to consider when you plan your stay and if you are a light sleeper. Still we were very happy with our stay and will be happy to come back in the future. If you are planning to eat in hotel’s restaurant be prepared for a very long wait for food. It’s nice but we were very hungry after long walk and had to wait 1hr 25 mins for our mains. No warning about the delay was given. It was busy and all other tables had to wait for a long time that evening. One waiter was serving all the tables and we felt sorry for him and the amount of work he had to do. We weren’t offered any snacks or bread while waiting and I noticed a few people around us looked as unhappy as us about delay. No apology for long wait, no discount but full service charge on the bill. Hopefully something will improve here as the restaurant and bar overall have a nice atmosphere.
