Not everyone enjoys getting dressed and joining others for breakfast. So it has been a popular alternative for us - leaving our main room free as a lounge / bar for guest use (equally community building). Try it out next time!

Dear Diane, although you changed your name on here to Jonathan, we have access to the original booking and we were expecting a poor review from you. You booked through this website then tried to browbeat us into allowing you to drop bags early, even though it clearly stated that check-in is not before 3pm. This is because we need time during the day to run errands and so on, so we cannot guarantee to be at the property. We explained to you that we had an appointment which we could not miss at the same time you wanted to drop your bag. We did our best to offer alternate solutions for you but you angrily told us repeatedly that we should be there so that you could drop your bag. As you were so unhappy, we even gave you the option to cancel your booking without charge. Instead, you cancelled the credit card you'd booked with. Our guess is that you were trying to find somewhere else to stay. The night before you arrived we chased you to see whether you wanted the room or not, because we didn't want you to get caught without anywhere to stay. You finally gave us a valid credit card the night before arrival, still complaining that we had misled you about when you could drop your bag. You were abrupt, bordering on rude at check-in and that was the last time we (the owners) saw you. It seems your entire review is based on us not being willing to cancel an important appointment of our own just so that you could drop your bag 2.5 hours before check-in. From our perspective, we did everything we could to try and help you but were met with resistance at every turn. It speaks volumes that after cancelling the credit card that you booked with, presumably to stop us from charging it, you've subsequently changed all the details on your review profile, including your name, address, country and even gender. The one thing you couldn't change was the link back to the booking that you've left a review for. With great respect, if you Visit Exeter again, we'd recommend that you research the property you're staying at to make sure that they can provide you with the appropriate service you require.

With regards to check-in times (between 3pm and 8pm), yes its good for us to know when you might arrive. Outside of these times we may not be here and we can always arrange a self check-in if you think you would be later in the evening - no problem.
