Hi Rob,Your review is a fair response. As we discussed this has been Mackworth House Farm House since it was built in the mid 1700's. It is only in recent years that the Mackworth Hotel changed its name to the Farmhouse at Mackworth - and yes it has been an issue for both establishments. The great thing is for us that usually when someone discovers us it's quite often the start of a good and regular relationship.On our 'Summary of Booking' - we actually state: "Please Note - You are booking for Mackworth House Farm and NOT the Farmhouse at Mackworth, previously known as the Mackworth Hotel. You hadn't opened your messages at the time of your arrival but have subsequently done so, so you will be able to see this on your confirmation letter.We do offer a very inexpensive continental style breakfast with hot croissants and pain au chocolat, cereal, various fruit juices, fresh fruit, yoghurt and toast for 3.50.As regards heating. As you say you stayed in a very large room - it has three outside walls and a wonderful view over the Mackworth Valley and beyond. It can be cooler than some may like in the colder months so this is why there is supplementary heating. It just needs to be switched on and adjusted for the guests personal comfort.You've hit the nail on the head as regards a B&B being someone's' home - this sets us apart from the corporate hotel chain where every hotel room is virtually the same no matter what part of the country you are. You would hardly ever get to meet the manager let alone the owner. This is what sets us apart as you get a unique home from home experience.Having said all the above (for other readers to assess) you were a great guy and once the initial shock subsided you managed to see what many see when visiting a B&B - I know it's not for you but I'm so pleased you survived the experience ;-)Kind regards,

You are absolutely right. Your stay coincided with a dinner party of 11 guests (We do Fine Dining evenings here) and most of them were smokers. Even though we have a private lounge for smokers I guess the volume of people added to the smoke getting to the upstairs rooms. For which I can only apologise. I think I now need to take action and ask for guests to smoke outside from this point onwards. Thank you for being so honest and frank. It's now time to address this matter.

That is very sad to hear. All rooms and 1st and second floors are no smoking. There is only one room where smoking as allowed and that is our private lounge. This needs to be addressed if smoking has permeated beyond this area. Sorry to hear your stay was a bad experience.

I'm pleased that we have a few redemption points. We usually have compliments but the fact you could smell smoke from our private quarters in the house is alarming. Sorry this was a downer for you. This is a private home first and foremost and not a hotel where you would expect every area to be non smoking. We are smokers. I am sorry that the cigarette smoke was noticeable in the B&B part of the farm - I will need to review this and see hope we can improve
