Property itself was great, self contained and centrally located, issues arose around the heaters not working, particularly in the bathroom, we stayed in room 8 at the back of the property located next to the rear stairs, neighbours across the way continually coming and going at all hours of the day and night and using the washing machine. Great to have an onsite washing machine and dryer.

The hotel was so run down. The walls were incredibly thin. When someone moved in another apartment, we heard it and were woken up by it.

This is in a great location within a few minutes walk of the Sealife Centre and all the shops on 4th Ave. Unfortunately, Apartment 6 is misrepresented in the Orbitz description, which states it has a queen-size bed. The bed was a full-size, which is much too small for my husband and me to sleep in, so I was relegated to the click-clack sofa which was uncomfortable, resulting in a sore back for me for several days. The full bed was also very noisy when my husband changed position in the night. Adding to the noise was the rain pounding on the roof all night, and a heating/cooling unit or something on the adjacent roof. However, there was no traffic noise or people noise.

Room was very clean. There is a convenient washer and dryer in the building that we found very helpful after hiking several days. Back stairs are a bit scary.

Gene, thank you for your review. We have a rocking chair and a futon couch in the living room for seating. Our buildings were built in 1903 and are very well loved and cared for. We are on the National Registry of Historic Buildings and we take a lot of pride in preserving the State of Alaska's history and sharing our buildings with local and tourists alike is how we extend this education and experience. We are training new staff and sometimes items do get forgotten. We are a quick call away, staffed 8am to 8pm and always available to fulfill our guest's needs. I recommend you book buildings that are new build in the future. Blessings and gratitude.

Thank you for your review! Brown and Hawkins was built in 1903 and is the oldest most well preserved piece of history in the state! We love that we can share Alaskas history with visitors from all over the world!

It was neat to stay in a historic building and we didn’t mind the quirks that went along with it, but the people doing laundry at 1:00 in the morning was very annoying since the door was so thin. The location was great but it was very hard to get in touch with anyone concerning parking instructions or a few other questions we had.

We asked to have the twin beds made into a king bed and that did not happen. The lock to our room was not secure. Called and was told how to make it secure which we did. Housekeeping did not. There was a dresser in our room that was unusable due to the closeness to the bed. We could not open the drawers. The heater in the bathroom did not have a usable control and it blasted heat at odd hours. The location was awesome. The people were very nice when we called or emailed, just don't feel they followed through with what we were told.

The room was clean and the kitchen had anything we needed. Loved the touch of local coffee beans being available. The bed was comfortable but the frame is so loud - i would literally wake up when I turned from one side to the next overnight from the squeaking. Otherwise, loved the location to walk to restaurants and the waterfront park.

This is a downtown hotel, great for walking around Seward. It is on the register of historic places, an extremely unique hotel. If you want to get to know Seward, I would highly recommend it.

The place is old, many appliances and furniture are not functional, beds are too soft and lumpy, parking is very limited. Communication from the booking service is very limited and not customer focused. I have stayed in Seward many times and this is the worst place to stay.

The beds were lumpy and soft, old non-functional kitchen & furnishings, floor slopes & not even. Very limited communication from booking agency, NOT customer friendly. Worst place I have ever stayed in Seward.

Pleasant stay
Lovely apartment in downtown. Came with a living room and full kitchen. Was able to make a hot breakfast and eat it at the cute table area. Only problem was microwave would keep shutting off mid cycle. Also, no elevator in a historic building. Wasn’t a problem but could be inconvenient. Place was clean and located in the perfect area. Murals, sea life center, waterfront parks, restaurants are all within walking distance.

Fun place to stay in Seward. Apartment in a historic building. Roomy living room and full kitchen. Very close to Alaska Sea Life Center and old town restaurants and shops. Affordable.

Includes one bed and a pull out couch. No sheets were provided for the couch. Otherwise a good central location in Seward.

Historical and Comfortable Apt
Very clean. Historical building with a very convenient location. I parked right out front on the street. Apt had a living room, full kitchen with eat in table, decent sized bedroom, nice bathroom. Thought the bed was comfortable, building was quiet at night. Binder they had out had lots of information for tourists. Managers were easy to reach by text. I’d definitely rent this place again and probably bring a couple more people since there’s a pull out. As far as staying in some place with some history that isn’t gonna feel new I thought it was clean and convenient. I could see a downside being the large staircase to climb to get to the floor with the apts, there is a lift chair there however.

Stairs were a significant obstacle for me. The chair lift helped but was slow. Not having staff at the facility made communication more difficult. The space was quit roomy and kitchen facilities good.

Bar noise - loud music until after midnight made it hard to sleep. Ear plugs on the night stand were helpful, but at $175 per night, it wasn’t worth the money. I won’t stay there again

It was a good location in the downtown area. The steps up to the apartment have a handicap chair if needed.

It was close to shops and restaurants so that was nice. Nothing mentions that there is only stairs or a chair lift to get up stairs. The table and chairs inside are more decorative than functional and the bed is just a metal platform with a mattress thrown on top that leans towards the top left of the bed. There is a bar right next door and the people were singing loudly until almost 2 in the morning. The last night the hot water was out and we waited 4 hours for someone to tell us what was going on and no one ever contacted us. Overall it was a place to stay but we won’t be back.

This was my first experience in booking through Expedia and it was a breeze. The property my father and I stayed at was comfortable, clean and accommodating. My father slept very well in the bed provided however I would recommend something else as a second bed. The convertible sofa sagged in the center if not for the additional foam mattress it would not have been usable. The historical pictures were a nice touch since the stay was in an historical building.

Coastal Heritage Accommodations
The apartment is not as advertised above. It is not that spacious for 4 people. Two of them have to sleep on a sofa bed which is not comfortable at all. They should definitely not charge such an exorbitant amount of money for such an apartment. The sink in the bathroom was not draining properly and if you leave it running for couple of mins it flooded the kitchen. There is no fan in the bathroom which is causing mold on the ceilings. I was very disappointed. The people advertising MUST put proper photos so that the people booking the place can decide properly. The WiFi was a joke. It would never connect properly.

We apologize that the property was not what you were expecting.. We do our best to show that this is a historical building. As for the wifi this is a small town in a semi rural Alaska. We do out best to keep it up and running for the specific apartments as sometimes they mix themselves up. I do hope you reached out to our management during you stay.
