Noise from passing traffic, room smelt musky as we were in jasmine cottage & complementary dressing gowns & slippers would of been nice for when you visit the swimming pool & we couldnt open our window on one side of the room as a smokers ash tray was outside the window, food & staff we couldnt fault. Had a nice relaxing 2 day stay & would recommend it to my family & friends.

Yes, it was a pleasant stay
Evening meals are rather heavy and oily. Need more lighter food. Will appreciate to have more fish dish.

Not quite what I was expecting considering the reviews I’d seen. Slightly dated and the leisure facility needs a revamp. Noises from the bar and stairwell through the night and early morning. Lights on outside the window coming through the curtains. Creeking bed and certainly not a silent night mattress. Cleaning in the bathroom needs attention. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Second visit to Newby. Swimming pool cold and needs updating, bed too hard for us and we had a disturbed night due to hearing washing machines and tumble dryers. Food Ok. They have pods since last visit, maybe money could have been better spent updating current rooms and definitely leisure area. The raised grill stuck with old hazard tape in pool area trip hazard, in our opinion needs a make over.

Thank you for your feedback.I am at a loss as to your comments re washing machines and tumble driers as we do not do laundry on site and the room you were in was nowhere near any machineryThe swimming pool and pool area has now been visited by the engineers and the technical issue has been rectified.We have had many guests comment on what a good night's sleep they had in that room.

Late birthday treat
Lovely hotel , with really freindly staff , room was clean and the bed was comfy. Complimentary tea tray was well stocked , plebty of fluffy towels and Complimentary toiletries. The food is of an excellent standard , highly recommend the roast dinner, and the roulade. Breakfast was great quality, plentiful with excellent choice, something for everyone.

Room was hot, and I was asked to leave Restaurant.
I stayed 2 nights in the Newby Bridge Hotel, and decided to go for a meal last night in your pub eating area. The guy who actually served me at the bar was the same one who said "sit where you want" it was 6:30pm.. I decided on what I wanted to eat and was told I had to pay for it at the bar.. fair enough.. The homemade pie and chips arrived, it was nice, and I'd paid for 2 pints but said I'd have my 2nd after I've drunk my first, as it was warm.. After I'd finished my lunch and 1st drink one of the waitresses took my glass and I asked if I'd have to go to the bar or can my 2nd drink be served at the table. She went off to bring my pint.. As soon as she'd brought it she, with her next sentence, said, oh.. this table is booked for 7pm, there was no sign at the table saying this, you need to move, did you book? .. I told her the man said sit anywhere it ok, even though I'd only sat down at 6:38pm.. She sensed I wasn't happy and said I could sit nearer the bar.. "oh its OK, I'll take it to my room, and go somewhere else tomorrow, So I took my pint to my room.. I was not happy in the slightest.. Am I being unreasonable here? 22 minutes to eat my lunch and drink my 2 pints? Then get thrown out in front of the other customers?? The room (5) had no AC, and no fan, which made sleeping, on a hot night, difficult. I'm in the area until March 2023 and try to move around the area, but would not stay here again.

Hotel clean, but very dated. The room that we stayed in, the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Not wheelchair friendly, only one disabled room. No lift with some rooms having 2 flights of stairs to go up. Our room had steps going down to it. A ramp was provided for the first steps, but there was still a step to go down. Corridors narrow making access with a wheelchair difficult. However, on a positive note the staff were helpful and friendly, and did their best under the limitations.

Excellent food.
Lovely hotel in a convenient position. Staff were helpful. Food was excellent. Room was spacious and clean. The only problem was that the radiators made a lot of noise just after we arrived. A member of staff tried twice to remedy this before arranging a mov We would use this hotel again.e to another room.

Booked by mistake on expedia app on the same night as planned stay approx. 19:00hrs, we were trying to book the Swan. Contacted expedia minutes after mistaken booking, hotel would not respond, left a request with expedia, hotel refuse to provide refund, did not stay in hotel. We stayed in the Swan. Receptionist staff at the Swan used to work at Newby Bridge Hotel and said the cleanliness and overall hygiene was awful, never want to stay here. Disappointed they would not provide refund on this occasion and circumstances.

Very expensive and requires renovation. Prons: * friendly staff * nice rooms Cons: * mould in the bath * 'spa' facilities should be rebuilt from scratch * vent in the bathroom didn't seem to be ever cleaned

Dirty the radiators full of spider webs so was behind the chest of drawers the windows full of mould . The shower head stand broke we had to hold it by hand .Some of the staff very rude trying to say good morning no answer.The breakfast £12 per person owhich I think it’s a little bit to much and very poor choices .Over priced £130 per night!!

The room was dated and the shower had no screen so we had to keep towels everywhere to stop the floor flooding . The price was high for the two night stay and didnt i nclude breakfast which was another €12 per person. The eveni ng meal was a buffet and the food was cold so we didnt eat there the second evening . The pool as nice but the cha ging room was dirty. We wouldnt stay again .

Dirty room including squashed spider on the ceiling, dirty towels and sheets refolded and put back for use instead of changing although left on bath as requested. Food in garden restaurant undercooked and caused sickness. Dead flies and rubbish floating in swimming pool on first use of the day.

The property was ok value for money, our room was spacious and light. However, the furniture and fittings were a little worn-down and it was not very clean. The breakfast only offers a Full English (in standard, vegetarian and vegan) plus cereals, toast, jam and fruit. Service at breakfast was friendly but incredibly slow. Staff at the reception was helpful. Currently you are able to book 30 min slots at the pool, during which you have the facilities to yourself/your party. Parking is in front of the hotel and even though it was busy and tight, we were always able to find a spot.

Would return to different room
We loved the location to the river. Bus connection and setting. Our only complaint would be the temperature of the room. We were abpve the swimming pool whoch meant the room was heated with pipes innthe floor. With no aircon we asked for a fan but nothing came of that. The window was open 24hours. Then the kitchen fan could be heard constant. Shame as made sleeping uncomfortable. We would return but ask for different room

The rooms have been updated and are very nice. Food from the restaurant was also very nice when having an evening meal. The pool area hasn’t been updated in what seem like about 15 years and is quite shabby and unappealing. The “gym” is a room with 4 machines one which looked rusty and was being used a towel storage area. If you take the state of the gym out of the equation it’s a lovely hotel and fit for purpose as a comfortable place to stay while exploring the Lake District. Would stay again if the opportunity presented itself.

Standard of the room (single occupancy) was not very good: awful mattress and pillows, bed reading light below par, I had to put waste paper bin on the window sill in order to keep the sliding window open, no anti-slip floor mat, nor safety grab bar to help me step into the bath to have a shower (totally unacceptable for an octogenarian as I am).
