The Grounds and House look nice, the Bar and Breakfast were good but the room was tired had damp on the walls around the window and the shower was a minuscule trickle. That said the stay was ok and the bar/lounge is a lovely room to sit!

The hotel is based in an historic manor house and is a beautiful setting. It could really do with a proper clean in places but overall it is very impressive to walk into. I booked a standard room which turned out to be a "cottage". These are a set of brick out-buildings which do afford privacy and quiet - ours was extremely cold and the heating and hot-water did not work. The reception staff were very apologetic and luckily for us there was a late cancellation in the main building so they moved us to a superior room. That room was very spacious with a 5 piece en-suite. Again, it could have done with a bit of a clean - some cobwebs and lady-bird bugs had taken up residence in the windows. Nevertheless an enjoyable and relaxing stay. I hope the new owners can rectify the few little issues as it would be a shame for the place to close.

Disappointed
Was very disappointed with the state of the hotel! It was tired and cold. Upon arrival reception kept us waiting while she did some ‘filing’ we booked a four poster bedroom with bath. We were shown a normal room without bath. When I said it was the wrong room, they moved us to another room, with bath but no four poster bed. Went down for dinner, the dining room was cold dark and unwelcoming. There were buckets all over the hotel catching leaks. All in all a treat turned into a bit of a nightmare. Will not be returning

Sweet and Sour.
It was our Golden Wedding Anniversary, our son rang ahead to request a bottle of Prosecco for our room & our evening meal billed to him. On arrival at 14.30 we checked in and relaxed in our room with a glass of fizz or two, we went down for dinner at 18.00. Our meal, the staff and service were faultless. After our meal we purchased another bottle of Prosecco to take back to our room, 😱 shock, horror, £32.95, that ruined our evening. We had a great breakfast Sunday morning before leaving for home. Speaking to my son at home ref, the cost of Prosecco he says, "it's a lot more than that when someone else takes it to your room for you" 😡 PS. I was also charged twice and am now awaiting a refund.

On arrival we discovered the spa facilities had gone into administration and werent available. The room wS cold and dusty. Ved linen dirty. Evening meal was good but choice extremely limited. In the mornimg we went for breakfast only to be told the chef hadnt turned up and so cereL/muesli etc the only option. Offered a bottle of wine in compensation which didnt feel a satisfactory gesture.

Slightly disappointed
We wanted to stay here due to location and reputation of the hotel. There are are few things that would have improved our stay - knowing that the leisure facilities are closed so the swimming pool advertised as available is not. We were not advised on booking that having a travel cot in the room would be an extra charge, the staff were accommodating on check-in on this. We also received a phone call after hours (9pm) from reception. Clean room and nice breakfast.

Will be back!
Loved the hotel! Very quirky and traditional! Open fire at breakfast was a real treat :) We were greeted and shown to our room by the hotel cat! So sweet!

What a beautiful place to stay. Everything very clean and staff very friendly. Christmas party on Friday evening was fun and made new friends. Food was exceptional.

Best stay in an hotel for years
Really enjoyed my stay at miskin manor and I will definitely be returning . Amazing staff amazing facilities an amazing hotel. Absolutely loved it . My only one criticism is the shower pressure was very poor.

Miskin Memories
The hotel is historic and interesting,beautiful estate setting. Bedroom spacious , clean, comfortable and warm, small steps between the bedroom and bathroom would have been safer with a grab rail on the wall. Reception rooms were very cold in the evening, facilities for log fires were not being used (-5*C outside). Menu for evening meal was limited, but food,service and presentation good. Breakfast good. Reception staff very good, helpful cheerful and courteous, bar and kitchen staff good. Problems with new payment system not working properly. Hotel currently in administration,would stay again when sorted out.

Nice quiet location, I got an excellent night's sleep. The property is old and this shows in places, but the standards are more than adequate for the price and the location is great, nice place for a brisk walk after dinner, but take a torch if it's late in the year.

Three guests and only one double bed was provided first,then after discussing another room given with extra bed.No drinking water provided in the room.Tap water is not suitable to drink,beddings were not clean.Breakfast was good,staff are helpful and friendly,surrounding is beautiful.

Hotel itself were very clean and gorgeous.Foods were amazing. However leisure centre was closed and couldn’t use debit cards due to the electricity issues… Apart from that I really enjoyed staying there.

Best Kept Secret!.. Wow this place made such an impact on me I will be talking about this place for years to come. If you love your history, privacy, and quiet outdoors surrounded by beautiful gardens and woodlands? .. this place is for you. I felt like I had lived there many lifetimes ago. The staff are all so friendly and happy to help. If you are an early riser, get your shoes on and take a morning walk around the grounds its just wonderful. Also has the facilities for weddings etc. We stayed in the Price of Wales Suite. The morning Breakfast Buffet is very good too.

Friendly and warming staff, beautiful bedrooms with beautiful views, shower pressure wasn’t great but it’s an old building and expected. Lovely buffet breakfast, evening menu needs a little tweaking, the hotel looked amazing in all its Christmas decor

Lovely place to stay
Excellent stay. Staff are fantastic and good old fashioned service. Loved the property and hope all goes well in the future. Would definitely stay again and explore the grounds when it’s not raining! Warm and comfortable and our requests were listened to and dealt with.

The property is a beautiful old buliding, the bed was very comfortable and the staff were lovely, i arrived just as food service stopped but the evening receptionist went above and boyond to see what they could do for me, which was greatly appreciated after a long day! The only negative i have was that the mugs in the room hadnt been changed, one had lipstick stains and the other still had some coffee or tea residue at the bottom but the bathroom had antibac soap and searing hot water so not the end of the world as was able to wash them up but the only downside to an otherwise pleasant stay.

Great staff however lacking polish
The huge positive was that the staff were warm and friendly, however there were quite a few niggles. They only took cash which luckily we had enough of to pay as we weren’t warned before our stay. Our key card didn’t work (a known problem), then we had to get a key instead,the power then wasn’t coming on and we needed some sort of plastic ‘key’. The Wi-Fi was abysmal and the area having virtually no mobile service meant there was a lack of internet. There was hair in the sink and on the toilet and the towels looked dated. It was also difficult to find staff about. In addition on our second night there were some very noisy guests who arrived back quite late, they could be heard easily above us and disturbed our sleep. For the price it wasn’t brilliant considering the issues but being one of the only hotels in the area, particularly that accepts dogs, then it’s still somewhere you’d probably consider if you needed to stay in that location

Driving up through the winding private driveway to the splendor of the main building filled me with anticipation of a most comfortable and luxurious stay. The room was quaint and rustic but afforded all the necessities of an overnight stay you would expect. There could have been a better effort to clean the room prior to my stay as I noticed some webs and spiders so the cleanliness could have been better in that regard. The most annoying part of the accommodation was the toilet. It was obviously and older style to fit in with the rest of the décor but the lever needed just the right force and speed to activate the flush otherwise the was just a trickle as relinquished by the discretion of the cistern so you were looking at 5-6 flushes on average. A decent night's sleep was followed by breakfast. The food was pleasant enough once it eventually arrived. For a dining area which was not full by any stretch, the time taken once I was seated to both take my order and then provide my food was done at a pace which would insult most glaciers. From there it was a rush to get out at a decent time so I went to check out in a hurry only to be told that there was no working card machine and as the booking was not paid for via the website I used, then it was cash only. As I pay for my accommodation using a company credit card, this put me in a bind. We eventually agreed that I would be contacted once a card machine was in use to pay over the phone but this was yet another inconvenience.
