A welcoming hotel near Lime Street station
I came up to Liverpool for a few days for the golf and this hotel was perfect for me. Don’t judge a book by its cover because inside it’s a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. Everyday when I was out, the staff would change the towels and was always on top of the cleaning. The free continental breakfast was great which filled me until lunchtime. If you are looking for a affordable place to stay In Liverpool next to Lime Street station, then this hotel is for you.

Cheap but not worth it
Had to pay with cash (seems to be a recurring thing reading other reviews). Hotel is quite run down, especially the bathroom. Moldy and partially broken shower. No shampoo, only body wash. Ok continental breakfast

Thank you for your review. Our card machine is a WiFi machine and if the broadband signal drops it will not work we are sorry if this is an inconvenience. We are currently refurbishing the bedrooms with 55 to do this will take some time. We are only a 2* hotel so extra touches like the shower gel are not to be expected, the breakfast is complimentary .

Hotel staff excellent and although we arrived prior to check in we were allowed straight into rooms.Pricing of hotel (£84) for a Saturday is about right for this standard of hotel. No negatives about hotel.

Excellent hotel
Perfect location, guy on reception was very friendly and accomodating. All staff were very happy and polite. Definitely hope to stay again

The Nelson Hotel was perfectly located for us; minutes from Lime Street station, a short walk to the bus station, a short walk to the docks, plenty of restaurants and pubs in the area. The Walker Gallery and a Theatre are a stones throw away too. The staff at the hotel were all really friendly and helpful and we were made to feel very welcome. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was included - tea & coffee, fruit juice, toast, crumpets, yogurts, pre packed pastries, slices of ham and cheese and fruit. No cooked breakfast but I did see hard boiled eggs one morning. Fine for us. The hotel is quite tired looking from the outside and on the stairs and in the hallways but that wasn’t a problem for us. This is a budget hotel and it ticked the boxes. Would I stay again? Yes.

hit or a miss(a miss this time)
usually have no complaints at all about this hotel,i have stayed many times.however,on this occasion,i was disappointed.no towel big enough(only a hand towel)in room to shower,not enough shower gel,and(only noticed in the morning)no toilet paper in my bathroom! i did request a towel and more shower gel be left in my room whilst i went out,,but this wasn't done,despite being told that these things would be left in my room.minor things,but only fa air to point out how slow the service was.

Perfect for short city centre stay
The hotel is old and a bit worn-out, still clean and comfortable bed. All you need for a short stay in city centre for budget price. Continental breakfast is little more than continental. I could recommend to invest in a coffee machine to make the Continental breakfast + perfect. Nice staff.

De staf is uiterst vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het hotel is verouderd, onze douche was slecht. Voor een paar dagen is het prima.

Fab place to stay, so close to all the amenities. Lovely friendly staff, i wouldnt expect any different from lovely liverpudlians. Booked to stay again the same time next year as soon as i got home

Nous avons apprécié le personnel qui était très coopératif. Par contre il a été très difficile de changer notre réservation. Très mauvaise communication entre l'hôtel et Expédia.

Great stay
Great value, ideally located, showing it's age but at that price more than satisfied. Really pleasant staff who were genuinely pleased to see you, extremely helpful.

Really great location - only a few minutes' walk from Lime Street station. Surprisingly quiet too given where it is. It's very cheap and so is not a luxury hotel by any means but it is amazing value for money and I slept very well and had a good bed/ shower and toilet. Staff were really kind and helpful.

Avoid at all costs.
If I could give this negative stars I would. The hotel is outdated, the elevator was broken when we arrived, my room was dirty, outdated and miniscule and frankly I didn't feel safe there. My friend faired slightly better as his room was clean with a broken window and leaking radiator. The 1 and only positive was the lady at reception who was very understanding when I told her I was leaving.

Thank you for your review we appreciate them all but only if they are honest. The hotel is old the building is over 200 years old . We checked your room it was not dirty apart from alittle dust . You booked a Single room which is for 1 person it was not going to be an apartment. Your friends room which you state had a leaking radiator is impossible seeing as there are no radiators it is electric heaters. The broken window is not broken that is a line in the frosting of the glass and he had no complaints. Honesty is always appreciated.

oh my god, horrible stay. there is breakfast which look like prison, limited breakfast, you do a line, they serve you like 2 slice of bread,one cheese etc. the building is old, we were located near stair case, we heard drunk people in the corridor running,lauphing , baby crying... people talking. in the street you can hear people shouting at night asking for help... i do not recommend...

Thank you for your review we appreciate them all but only when the truth is told. I do not know what a prison looks like but it will not be like our dining room. You are asked to take a seat and be called up to the buffet table you obviously didnt listen on check in. There is plenty of choice on the buffet table again you didnt look properly. The building is old but that is obvious. You booked a City Centre hotel on a weekend it was never going to be quiet but since when have we been responsible for people outside passing the hotel. Oh and by the way the breakfast is FREE you didnt have to pay for it.

Good central location, amazing staff. Rooms very basic, problem with hot water. Bed was comfortable and good size for single. For the price I paid it was ok.

It’s a basic budget hotel. Expect anything more you will be disappointed but good value for money. Staff are very friendly and helpful

Melhorar atendimento a um hospede brasileiro
Foi boa a estadia, simpáticos. Seria melhor se o wifi fosse pelo menos razoável. Perdemos o café da manhã porque chegamos 1 minuto depois das 10hs. A atendente assustou com a gente, não sabemos o motivo, e depois disse finished. Esse foi outro ponto negativo da estadia além do wifi.

Ok for one night...noisy outside but was expected. Would have helped if the windows shut properly. Could be a good hotel if everything was updated. Bed was almost collapsed ...room was filthy & dusty behind the furniture. Water was dangerously scalding hot. Breakfast was OK & luckily our neighbours were quiet.

Bad Stay
I would definitely not stay at this hotel again.. rude staff, very cold room bathroom even colder there isn’t any heating, there was a small fan to use but not ideal. Was a free breakfast but they portioned sized it for you. No bar open throughout the stay. Floor in the room was very uneven.

Thank you for your review we appreciate all feedback. The one comment you make is that the staff are rude. That is very surprising as all our reviews state how friendly and helpful our staff are. I would have expected you would have let reception know the room was too cold as it is manned 24/7 and maybe they could have changed your room. The breakfast is not portion sized but as is free there is a limit to guests being greedy. Our licence is being changed hence why the bar is closed but we are surrounded by pubs etc as we are in the City Centre.

Not bad - but not disappointed
Not bad location for a hotel. Staff were pleasant. I stated in room 120 I had a shock from switching on the bathroom light . The edges around the socket need replastering and painted. Telly was thick with dust at the back. I had an old portable heater that I had to plug in - the heater on the wall was so ancient and I’m not sure it was working properly. Breakfast was continental cereal and toast - but not self service due to Covid regulations 😳
