The location of the Castle Hotel is great, you couldn’t get a better location.
Hotel itself in the main communal areas is lovely, nicely decorated and modern. The bedrooms however need some work. My room had a lot of very rough edges, chipping paint, paint peeling off doors, knocks and bangs on the woodwork, stains on the cushions. Just generally a little lit low on standards for a hotel of this supposed calibre. My towels (as per the photo) had FOUR holes in one single bath towel, just shoddy and low quality. Because of this, I went to reception to ask for some robes for the room (which might I add- states on the website and hung on a hanger in the wardrobe- ‘please ask for a robe, we’ll bring one straight up to you’) I was told by the receptionist that they were for VIP’s only, so not VIP enough! I nearly fell over! That was shocking. The next day I asked again and was able to get some, but it was on day two of our stay so would have been nice the first night!
The breakfast staff were poor on the first day, I didn’t get welcomed into the room, no ‘good morning’ nothing. In the middle of the room a lady said ‘you want tea or coffee?) if not even been showed to my table yet. We weren’t advised anything, didn’t ask what we wanted, nothing! We were ignored, we’re spoken to rudely and the corporate guests prioritised in terms of service! Day two was better, the complete opposite, and how it should have been day one!! Very disappointing!
Best thing about the hotel is Dexter.
