Bonvoy is the name of Marriott's Rewards membership program. It is free to join at any time and members can earn points and stay credit on any reservation booked through Marriott. The more you stay, the more amenities you earn. Unfortunately, third party stays do not qualify - but you can certainly join for future visits at any Marriott property.
