Comfort bed. Clean unit. Friendly check in gal. Bath valves leak all night and finding the sweet spot for comfortable temp impossible plus the volume of shower is very weak & inadequate. The electric door lock barely works as if its batteries are failing.

Fabulous Motel! The staff was amazing and so friendly! We traveled on our motorcycle and it happened to be raining and they let us park our bike under the porch ish cover in front of the office!! <3 Great views of the ocean just a couple feet away! Food options and beach access close! We’ll definitely stay here again if we’re in the area!!

Overlooks the mouth of the Gualala River as it empties into the ocean. Beautiful view! Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Very dog friendly. A very nice path runs along the bluffs just a few steps from our room. I wish that our schedule wasn't so tight so that we could stay an extra night.

Great little stay!
The inn was clean and centrally located. It was clean and comfortable. We were not looking for a fancy stay and this suited us well. I love that it is family-owned. That warmth was shown by the check in host as well as the instructions for making our stay the best possible. We will be back! Gualala is a charming town and the inn was in a perfect location to walk along the Gualala Bluff Trail, to restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores and our favorite gift shop, “Bodega Sport and Tackle”.

Excellent location. There is a area with chairs with an incredible view, where you can hang out and watch the sunset. The room is perfect for a place to land after a day hiking. The Surf Market next door has everything you could ever need. It is a very gourmet market but not stuffy. The BBQ tent has great ribs and smoked meat.

Regular maintenance needed
Our room had quite a few maintenance needs. All the fixtures in the tub/shower required attention. stepping on the floor of the tub you could feel the dry rot underneath. Exhaust fan did not work. The imitation fireplace fan was wretchedly loud.

We are going room to room working on the issues that require attention.We do have new exhaust fans for all the rooms.We no longer use the simulated fireplaces, that is why we have installed new individual air/fan and heat units to each room.Next step is to remove the old simulated fireplaces.

This is an older, small, locally managed property that for decades has been integral to Gualala and the Mendonoma Coast community. It is neat, clean, and comfortable. It overlooks the ocean along the Gualala River Estuary Bluff Trail with mesmerizing views. Jade, the manager, is warmly welcoming, eager to provide personalized service and information for locals and tourists.

Lovely small motel in a unique town on the coast. Front desk staff super personable and helpful. Great view of the ocean from our room. Nice bluff walkjng trail with view to hundreds of brown pelicans. Not much choice in tjis town but glad we chose this motel!

Great location--within walking distance of multiple restaurants and markets. Very close to the trail along the bluff, which was much nicer to walk on than the road. Friendly staff, great views of the river and the ocean, and lots of pelicans!!!

We had a lovely three night stay with our small dog at the Surf Inn in August. The motel is close to everything, and the Bluff Trail is at the end of the parking lot. Breakfast at Trink's Cafe is a short walk on the trail. The staff are friendly and helpful, and even brought treats for our dog. One thing to note, if you haven't travelled much since the pandemic, many places, including the Inn, no longer provide utensils, plates, napkins, cooking pots, or dishwashing liquid. The Surf Inn does provide a coffee maker and supplies in the room. Would definitely stay there again next time we're in the area.
