Weekend break
Cooked breakfast was good but the cereal choice was unimaginative. Water pressure in basin poor. Shower good and it cleaned the bathroom. Decorative state was poor. Toilet seat fixing was broken and not resolved to our satisfaction. Insufficient hangers for two people. Current AARating was incorrect. No way a 4 star so overpriced.

Hotel review
The room was superficially good, bed large and comfortable but the room had some problems. The handle on the bathroom door was very hard to open. The shower leaked over the side of the bath creating a swampy puddle. having washed it took an age for the condensation to clear. However on the plus side the breakfast was excellent. The room was advertised as having wi fi. There was none available and no explanation of why.

Could do better.
As the only two people staying at Orchard House for the first two nights and joined by only 2 more couples, it seemed odd to be given a top floor room. (Note: No owner in residence) Also it would have been good to get hot water up to the dizzying heights, as only a trickle of not so cold water arrived when the tap was on. A suggestion for the owners of all B&B's would be to stay a night in each room yourself to see how you would rate it. Check out if the shower head is held in place or falls out of it's holder, etc. The bed was of poor quality, every spring could be felt and the usual "roll together" effect was present. Finally, even though it's meant to be a tranquil setting, WiFi would be useful so guests could researsch what to do in the local area. The staff were very nice. We've stayed in much worse but payed much less. Locally, Cragside was amazing and thoroughly worth a visit. The village pubs provided a good choice of dinning options. A very nice village.

Beautiful
Audrey was a lovely host, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean neat and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was served hot and fresh, and the service was excellent. I would encourage all of my family and friends to come to orchard house and looking forward to using it again.

Baby-friendly rural break
Very accommodating place, very welcoming of babies/children. Unfortunately, my email was not noted in which I had specified some dietary requirements, so these were not ideally catered for. Breakfast portions are also relatively small; healthier but not the treat I like to enjoy when I'm on holiday! Room was very spacious even with our travel cot and other baby bits! Shower was great - powerful and hot. Unfortunately, the toilet seat was somewhat loose and there was some dirt around the hinges as well as strange patches on the wallpaper and a tatty headboard. There was also quite a lot of noise; from other guests, the plumbing and the extractor fan in the en suite.

a little disappointed
Overall, our stay was pleasant, though certain aspects were a little disappointing. There were a few nice touches in the room - fruit, water and biscuits, however the room showed signs of a lack of maintenance. The bed headboard covering was peeling off, the springs in the mattress were evident, bath plug didn't work etc. The breakfast waitress was very helpful and pleasant, and the food that was served was very nice. However I must say that this is the only guest house I have ever stayed in that didn't have any breakfast buffet. Not one thing. There was no fruit, yogurts, croissants or anything out on display. Disappointing for the price paid.

Nice location for exploring Northumberland
Very pleasant staff, comfortable accommodation, great food. Enjoyed our time in Northumberland and the weather was lovely. Hope to come back again in the future.

Country House type Accommodation
We spent a very comfortable night at Orchard House. Lovely room with handmade chocolates to welcome us.breakfast was very elegant and enjoyable with a very good choice of food. All in all it was excellent value for money.

A very nice hotel with friendly staff.
The hotel is very comfortable and the staff is excellent but it is not in Morpeth, as advertised. It is in Rothbury, which is 15 miles away from Morpeth. We had booked this hotel specifically because we wished to stay in the town of Morpeth and were disappointed we were so far away.

Warm welcome in Rothbury
Lovely room in a great location, very good breakfast choice and genuinely friendly staff. This was one of our very best b and b stays.

Stayed overnight on a long journey north. The hotel was lovely, staff very friendly & welcoming. The town was beautiful with a river running through it. Excellent place for a stroll on a hot Summer's evening. Highly recommend the hotel and it's location.

FANTASTIC. We'll definitely be back
Everything was perfect. Room was great well equipped clean and with period architectural features. Breakfast menu gave a good choice and the food we had was really good and cooked to perfection. The owner was very welcoming and made the stay very relaxing. Fresh milk for tea in the room was great. Would be happy to recomend to friends and we will be going back in the future. FANTASTIC.

We stayed two nights, the last at very short notice, whilst we were in the area. We found Audrey the owner very helpful, and supportive.

nice hotel just 1 mile from Cragside
we chose Orchard House after looking online for a b&b close to Cragside, a National Trust property which we wanted to visit en route to Scotland. It was lovely to have a hotel so close to our last visit of the day and so very easy to book online. We had our evening meal at the Turks Head, lovely fresh cooked meal, but there are plenty of places to eat in Rothbury. Breakfast at Orchard House was excellent, a wide choice for vegetarians as well.

The kindness we received was outstanding,
The full experience was fantastic , from the warm towels on arrival to be able on the night to have the full top floor to are self ,stylish bedrooms . To splendid extras - bottles of water in the room . Breakfast was a very good choice good to a very good standard no problem if want to receive was no problem . With good service .

A VERY WARM WELCOME
Arrived late afternoon to a Warm Welcome from the Housekeeper, welcomed us with a Glass of Bucks Fizz and a warm hand Towel.Escorted to our room up on the top floor, Oldly Worldly Cottage style with modern furnishings. Attention to detail were spot on, bottled water plenty of Tea & Coffee facilites and freshly made brownies in the room for our arrival. One down fall was the shower wasn't in full working order but we didn't make a fuss as it was fine to have a relaxing bath. I unfortunately didn't make it to breakfast but my partner did and he said the service was very good and the food was freshly cooked and well presented. Well done 8/10 we will definately return. Thank you for helping make our weekend such an enjoyable one.

What a delightful surprise!
Having decided at the last minute to stay in the area for our visit to Cragside we booked in a hurry without much research ...and how the good fairy was looking down at us when we did. We had the most comfortable, relaxing stay at The Orchard House and would thoroughly recommend it. From the Bucks Fizz upon arrival to the chocolates at turn down time and the delicious breakfast, nothing was too much trouble and everything had been thought out for our comfort. We shall return!!

A Gem of a hotel
On a arrival we were greeted with Bucks Fizz and warm towels then shown to our room, which was the Amethyst Room, very tastefully furnished and with a very comfortable King sized bed. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, with no shortage of towels and an excellent shower. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the room. There is a very good Italian restaurant in Rothbury and the housekeeper, who is a love, will make reservations. There is a very good steak restaurant, Louis,s, in Alnwick, which is about 25mins drive. Would we go back to Orchard House ? Most certainly if we go to that part of the country again. Would we recommend it to others? Definetly.
