지구상 최악의 호텔. 제발 가지마세요..
세상에 이런 호텔은 본적이 없음. 스탭이 게스트에게 일찍 도착했다고 짜증을 내고 짐을 보관해주는 장소조차 없음. 카드 또는 현금지급이라 써있으나 자기네 카드 기계가 이상해서 더블페이 되기 때문에 현금을 가져오라 함. 리셉션에는 항상 사람이 없고, '리셉션에 사람이 없는 경우, 도움이 필요하면 눌러라' 해놓은 벨이 있는데 수십번을 눌러도 스탭은 안나타남. 결제 문제때문에 연락할 일이 있었는데 전화를 백번을 해도 백번 다 연결이 안됨. 이 호텔의 모든것들이 한 이백년정도 쓴듯이 낡았음. 카펫은 더럽고 낡아서 다 망가져있고, 가구도 낡아서 소리가 나며 어떤건 부숴져 있음. 침대는 조금만 움직여도 삐걱거리는 소리가 나고 엄청나게 불편해서 허리가 아팠음. 침구는 눅눅하고, 호텔에서 제공하는 자주색 수건에선 먼지가 끝없이 떨어져나와 몸이 자주색 먼지로 뒤덮힘. 방안에는 휴지통도 없음. 화장실에 단 한개 휴지통이 있는데, 심지어 그 휴지통엔 이전 투숙객이 버린 쓰레기가 그대로 있었음. 조식은 세상에 어떤 호스텔을 가도 이것보단 잘 나올것임. 엄청나게 구질구질한 빵 살라미 치즈 시리얼 삶은계란 이게 다임. 그마저도 질이 좋아보이지도 않음. 위치도 완전 구림. 도심과 겁나 멀어서 걸어가면 15분 이상은 잡아야함. 진짜 지구상 최악의 호텔임. 제발 가지마세요. 여러분의 돈을 아껴드립니다.. 세상 어느 호스텔을 가도 이것보단 깨끗하고, 밥도 잘나오고, 친절할 거에요. 제발 여러분의 소중한 돈을 낭비하지 마세요 제발...

I accept that for £65 a night you are not going to get a lot but the state of the décor and lighting was awful. £20 worth of paint and Polyfilla is all that it would take to bring it up to acceptable level.

Unkomplizierter Check-In und Check-Out. Gute Lage zur Tram in der Neustadt. Keine direkte Beleuchtung im Zimmer. Heizung funktionierte nur irgendwann nachts, viele kleine Reparaturen sind fällig, insbesondere im Bad. Warmes Wasser erst nach längerem Laufen lassen. Schlechteres 3 Sterne Hotel als das zuvor gebuchte 2 Sterne Hotel.

I had the most amazing stay here! Derrick was so warm and helpful. I love my room which is walking distance to anywhere else! One of the best stays I had for a very reasonable price!

I booked in to stay at this hotel in January 2019 for NYE December 2019. I paid £440 for a suite with breakfast. The reviews were really good and location sounded great. When I got there i was told that it had new ownership since February 2019, they no longer did breakfast and no longer had a suite... we had been allocated a very basic double bedroom. No one had contacted me to inform me of this and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I obviously told the man at reception I was not happy with this but it’s NYE and so finding new accommodation would have been impossible. The receptionist contacted the manager who offered me a reduced rate of £350. I had to accept as was held over a barrel having flown in from Bristol for NYE and potentially not having anywhere to stay. You wouldn’t pay anymore that £50 a night for the double room and so I’ve been seriously ripped off! I will say the location is great and the man in reception was as helpful as he could have been but overall to be have been looking forward to a luxury room for nearly 12 months and then having what I was given, for the price I paid was disgusting and I would not recommend this hotel for this reason.

TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTING!! WILL NEVER STAY AGAIN
HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING!!! Not a place to stay. I had booked 4 rooms (all paid and had booking reference as well) and upon arrival they just had one room booking. Manager couldn't contact the owner and couldn't decide anything. We waited for 40 min. Then they took us to some guest house which was at half an hour drive away from the city. Neither the manager nor the owner contacted me thereafter. The customer service team of Hotels.com sorted my problem and compensated well.

A beautiful Georgian town hotel in an excellent setting near the city centre and the Playhouse. The price is affordable. Unfortunately it is showing signs of under investment and neglect.

Neither cheap nor good
It's a bit of a sad place in need of some TLC. Everything about the decor, bed, furnishings, bedding, etc, screams cheap. It's such a shame; it's in a fantastic location and in a lovely building. I wonder how many return visitors they get...

Although we selected the Playfair for its location, there were limitations to our stay that led to a little disappointment. Our room was facing the street, which meant constant traffic noise all night long. The window couldn't be opened due to noise and that made the room uncomfortably warm and stuffy. The bed was barely adequate and fairly uncomfortable. Bath facilities were just adequate but no "creature comforts" at all. The advertised breakfast was a basket left at the door with instant oatmeal, pre-packaged sugary pasties and Capri Sun "juice" so we left it. There wan't any table to sit at to enjoy a breakfast even if we'd wanted to. The best part of the experience was the location. It was a 15 minute walk to the city center and about a 30 minute walk to the castle. For the money, we expected more.

Very tatty, water in showers is so hot they are unusable. Breakfast should have been included but all we got was oats to add boiling water to, aldi fruit juice and a chocolate pastry (not fresh). Lock held together with sellotape. Hotel taken over since I booked. Room looked nothing like those on the website. Spoke to owner who was not interested in any of my concerns. If you are looking to stay here, book a hostel as it wil be cheaper, cleaner with usable facilities.

i would have thought that a b&b in the centre of Edinburgh would have been of a much better standing , considering the ideal situation . Under dynamic management and some investment , this hotel could be really Something . get rid of the awful basement restaurent ! the smells of cooking are awful at ground level !

Ich weiss zwar nicht ab wann sich ein Hotel Hotel nennen darf. Aber das war nicht mehr als ein B&B. Keine Rezeption vorhanden. Das Zimmer ziemlich abgerockt und die Sauberkeit lässt zu wünschen übrig. Gebucht hatten wir mit Frühstück. Das stand morgens vor der Zimmertür und bestand aus einer Caprisonne, ein Müsliriegel, einer Dose Poridge zum selber zubereiten und ein Schokobrötchen in Folie. Das Zimner hatte weder einen Tisch noch ausreichen Bestuhlung. Normalerweise hätten wir die Unterkunft abgelehnt. Da aber gerade Edinburgh Tattoo stattfand, waren kein Alternativen vorhanden. Mit Abstand eine der schlechtesten Unterkünfte die wir in den letzten Jahren hatten. Das PLV steht in keiner Relation. Und ich frage mich ernsthaft wie die Bewertungen zustande kommen die ja durchaus positiv sind.

Good location for what we wanted. Strange room set-up due to bathroom being an addition to room. Slightly odd that room wasn't cleaned during our stay. That said, quiet, reasonably priced & just what we wanted for the weekend.

En forferdelig opplevelse.
Jeg vet nesten ikke hvor jeg skal begynne: Jeg hadde booket rom for 5 mnd siden, og vi fikk et rom i 1.etg. med utsikt til en bakgård med søppelfylling. Rommet var bitte lite og det var ikke varmt vann før neste morgen. Resepsjonisten kunne ikke engelsk og var umulig å forstå. Men det aller verste var frokosten som jeg hadde betalt full pris for og gledet oss til. Det var en kurv som ble satt på utsiden av døren og besto av en havregrøt som det smakte lim av, Det eneste brukbare oppi den kurven var juicen. Det var ikke rundstykker eller smør eller syltetøy som er vanlig i en Britisk frokost. Det er tydelig at her har mattilsynet vært og stengt kjøkkenet, og da skulle jeg ha fått beskjed med redusert pris eller mulighet til å booke et annet sted. Vi er i Scotland hver sommer og overnatter på B&B, men har aldri opplevd maken. Jeg forlanger derfor å få pengene tilbake. Hilsen Nina Riise.

Terrible place to stay, only good thing was its location. Towels had been washed in a bleach so smell transferred to your skin, no bath mat, tiny wee bathroom, shower either boiling hot or cold. Breakfast was delivered in a basket left at your door on the floor, prepackaged plastic food!. Not what we had booked but was told there was a new owner who was cutting back on costs.

Give this one a miss
The only good thing I can say is the location, easy walk to town and busses virtually at the door. We had booked & paid for breakfast 2 mornings and got a basket at our door on the floor with small orange juice, packet porridge, packet croissant (don't know how many days old ), sweet bar. Not impressed but were told with the change of owners the breakfast arrangement in the restaurant was stopped. The towels had been washed in a bleach which the smell then transferred to your skin. Horrible! . Windows very difficult to open or close so it was stuffy & hot. The shower was scalding hot first night and too cold the second. The beds had a rubber type mattress on, not an innerspring mattress. Not worth the money.

My room wasn’t serviced, my breakfast was never delivered, the shower barely worked- this was really a barebones (or worse) hotel.

First impression of room was good , nicely decorated but there were a few things not great - no hand towel , no bath mat outside shower cubicle, second day we didnt get the tea , coffee etc in our room replaced so had to go to reception to fetch more . Theres a restaurant downstairs and this was quite noisy until about midnight . The front door slammed shut every time someone used it

The hotel is in a convenient position and the staff member I met was pleasant and helpful but the hotel is not really suited for a business trip. The restaurant, which I did not use, is Persian but does not provide breakfast. The 'continental breakfast' comes in a tray left outside your room. If I was on holiday it wouldn't bother me I would just go up the road and buy a cooked one.

Location was great, everything else was a disaster. We arrived to be told our toilet in room 9 was Out of order but we would get another room (12) to use which we agreed too but little did we know it was full of crap and 3 men were coming in and out moving things which was not nice for 4 ladies. We was told it would be clear within an hour but was still not clear when we left. We was offered a refund of £30 and discount of our next stay. We tried for more as we would not be back but they refused. There was not handles on wardrobe doors, lightening is poor and breakfast was 2 tubs of porridge and cereal bars with no spoons when there was 4 of us sharing. Tea & coffee was not filled up either. My advice would be ask to see the room before you pay.
