Lovely hotel in Funchal
The Terrace Mar was a great choice for iur four night stay in Funchal. It is located in a inice area,with plenty of restaurants and bars within a short walking distance. The airport bus stop is just around the corner, which was really convenient. We booked a junior suite,which was huge,with everything we needed,a lovely bathroom ,Kitchenette and balcony with a sea view. The roof top pool was small, but really nice and heated,along with the jacuzzi. Unfortunately, the Sauna was not available during our stay. All the staff were wonderful,even providing a lovely cake for my birthday as a surprise! We had an amazing break and would definitely stay again.

Great value for money - surrounded by hotel for 5 or 10 times the price, albeit they have twice the luxury and view. But save €200 and walk 5 minutes....

Ideal for access to everything
This property was wonderfully located for access to shops, bars, restaurants and old town - all walkable. Everything was as described and the pool was heated to comfortable heat. The only downside to staying here is the intermittent wifi access which was frustrating at times.

Hotel muy recomendable
Acaba de ser reformado no creo que tarden en darle màs estrellas. Todo nuevo, camas super còmodas, desayuno variado y fresco ademàs cocinan ciertas cosas al momento ( el Personal en concreto la señora a cargo del desayuno encantadora y muy muy trabajadora) al ser un hotel pequeño ningun servicio està saturado. Cerca de supermercados y restaurantes. Zona muy tranquila

Affordable stay in paradise
Great place to stay! A little outside of the main old town area, but just a short bus ride away. Parking garage was really small and pretty difficult to navigate, so if you rent a car, make sure it's a compact. Reception was great, and overall a great experience. Would definitely stay here again!

Tolles Hotel an guter Lage! Grosses, schönes, sauberes Zimmer mit zwei Balkonen. Reger Verkehr auf den Strassen rund ums Hotel, dadurch auch teilweise lärmig bei offenem Fenster. Praktische Küchenzeile mit Kühlschrank, Herd, Mirkowelle und Teekocher. Gut ausgerüstet für 2 Personen. Schönes, sauberes Badezimmer mit moderner Dusche, Föhn und genügend Abstellfläche. Das Jacuzi und der Pool auf dem Dach sehr sauber und genügend Liegestühle. Parkgarage im Haus war praktisch. Das Frühstücksbuffet abwechslungsreich. Sehr freundliches Personal im Haus. Wir haben uns wunderbar erholt in dieser Woche auf Madeira!

Great place to stay, Breakfast excellent choice staff work really hard to keep things flowing always loads of choice,s. Front desk staff really helpful, lady's who do the rooms always first class, pool & hot tub on roof great place to chill and catch some sun, local area has excellent choice of restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance beach nearby , bus, s and main town centre 15 minute walk fantastic place. Airport bus stops at bottom of road which is really good, fitness gym nearby with day membership 10 euros, and good work out sessions available for non members, lido swimming pool 10 minute walk if you want to swim you just don, t want to come home

Short stay. I would have booked for longer had I known how fantastic. Would highly recommend and shall definitely return. Very well located. Partial sea view from balcony. Spotlessly clean. Fabulous pool on the roof. Excellent breakfast. Spa located in lower ground floor (reasonable rates and excellent treatments (massage)). On arrival late at night, we were warmly welcomed by Pedro, who kindly offered a delicious Madeira wine on arrival. All staff were attentive, efficient and very kind.

Recently stayed here for two weeks had a really good stay room very nice and big beds comfortable everything you need iron on request good value for money only thing that let it down was the underground parking you have to pay 6.50 a day but they lock the garage around 11ish so if your not back before they lock it you have to leave it on the road. We were never told the garage gets locked. It is also very small.

Great stay
People stay at this hotel for 3 reasons- the rooftop view, kitchenette, and great staff. We loved how kind and friendly 90% of the staff was esp the breakfast staff, housekeepers and Eduardo at reception. I would recommend this hotel because it is a safe, clean, and boutique hotel. The good- amazing breakfast, pool with rooftop views, great location, close to cliff bay (bus stop), close to restaurants/great supermarket, and our second room was spacious. The bad- jacuzzi broken for majority of stay, pool is small, blonde female at reception completely unhelpful/unfriendly, location is next to a loud street (dogs barking all night) The ugly- we had two rooms. Not sure why since I requested a quiet room but we were placed in the noisiest room. Right next to the only working elevator. The room had shower issues, zero countertop space in the kitchenette, and was very cramped considering we paid for a suite. Overall despite the minor issues this is a great hotel in a great location. I was slightly worried about being so far from old town but the bus ride into town is only €2 and this area is close to the lido/natural pools.

Great hotel in Madeira
Great hotel, good location, only a 20 minute walk to town, if your not that mobile the town bus and tourist hop on/off bus stop at the bottom of the road. Great local restaurants covering a wide range of options from local through Italian and even a curry!. Hotel was very well maintained, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Of all the places we have stayed (and that's a lot) this was one of the best buffet breakfasts around, they will even cook some things to order. Room was well equipped, wifi was excellent and pool/sun terrace was very pleasant also. Will definitely stay here again if we return.

Viikosta jäi perushyvät fiilikset, hinta-laatusuhde oli kohdallaan. Vierestä menee vilkasliikenteinen katu, jonka melu tulee häiritsevästi kadunpuoleisiin huoneisiin. Hotelli oli kaikkinensa siisti ja raikas, mutta vastaanoton ei voi kehua ystävällisestä asiakaspalvelusta. Poikkeuksena aamiaishenkilökunta, joka tervehti aina huomaavaisesti ja toivotti hyvät päivänjatkot. Hotellin yhteydessä ravintola, jonka sisäänheittäjänä toimii yli 30-vuotias papukaija. Great location for restaurants etc but a bit noisy not that it worried us, but some might find it too much. Professional staff but could be more friendly. Had booked the junior suite and was disappointed that this was one room, sure the website said junior suite would have a ‘ lounge’ area... Wallpaper, whilst quite new, was peeling from walls and bubbling up but beds comfy, all equipment necessary was there and breakfast was very good although there are no views etc as in the lower ground area. Very clean and replacement towels, bed linen etc as often as you want. Would maybe use again but expect there are other accommodations that are better for the same budget.

Positivt överraskad!
Jag hade nog inte så höga förväntningar till det här stället, men jag blev väldigt positivt överraskad! Fina rum, väldig trevlig personal både i receptionen och vid frukosten. Frukosten var bättre än jag hade trodd. Och det finns glutenfritt bröd och kaka! Va bara aktsam med att ha sötsaker på rummet/glas som inte är skölja, myrorna hittar dit direkt. Bra dusch också. Det ända tråkiga var att Jacuzzin var för kall. Man kan kanske störa sig lite på papegojan utanför ibland också, men överlag är stället värt pengarna och ligger precis vid baren Hole-in-One om man tycker om irländska pubar och live musik.

Séjour très agréable
Pour découvrir l'île et fêter un anniversaire. Bien placé sur une ligne de bus fréquente pour aller en ville mais aussi près d'un office du tourisme et de loueurs de voiture... sans oublier les nombreux restaurants. Nous avons apprécié le jaccuzi sur le toit pour nous détendre après une journée de marche dans les montagnes. les massages sur place et la gentillesse du personnel très attentionné.
