Property needs a serious overhaul as soon as possible and as fast as possible. Departments need to be trained on a regular basis. (Engineering contractors need to be instructed to conduct any conversations in an area out of guest view.) First room alloted wasn't great and had a rather disgusting health faucet. Second room was decent. Coffee mugs were broken and caused a spill. (IRD) Received no apologies regarding the same. Hallways were a mess and were dirty, with footprints and dust. Housekeeping trolleys were kept in the reception lobby throughout the day. Did not feel that this hotel was a part of IHCL except for the staff service.

Room comfortable, good bed and bedding, A/C efficient and quiet, very good breakfast, helpful and friendly staff, very good restaurant, supervisor Narayan went out of his way to get an adaptor for my phone. Only down side: tv and wifi are useless.

Pros: the hotel offers excellent value for what it offers. The room is comfortable and quiet, the bed and bedding are very good, A/C quiet, shower good water pressure, very good breakfast (Indian and Western) and all the staff are super nice and helpful, especially the supervisor Narajan who went the extra mile for me. Worth my money. Pleasant stay. I strongly recommend Ginger hotels. It's a nice budget hotel with the basic requirements.

Very bad dingy hotel
Was a very bad experience staying at ginger, it was unclean, rooms where dingy , ac filter needed to cleaned, I developed a bad sore cough. Most wierd part was the way they generate the room charges...very bad overall for so called tata enterprise

The staff was very helpful and respectful. However, they need to advise the guests that noise carries so guests need to speak in softer levels especially at night.

A Big Disappointment
This hotel doesn't have much going for it: poor location far from Puducherry, mediocre housekeeping, bad maintenance, small rooms, too expensive for what it offers. The second night I was there, at around 1:00am, an electrical plug right next to me bed caught fire, I put it out and call reception. Afer some deliberation, they gave me another room but the AC didn't work. I checked out the following day and didn't pay for that disturbing night.

Issues and more issues
This was the only hotel with open rooms left during new year and now we know why. The hotel and service was absolutely horrible. We arrive late at night on new years eve. I had booked the hotel over a month in advance with all of our preferences listed. NONE of our preferences were met. We had asked for non-smoking rooms that were adjacent to one another. We received smoking rooms that were not adjacent to each other. We were able to change rooms to another floor for non-smoking rooms. Additionally, every bathroom had a horrible smell that required air freshener to be sprayed every hour and the bathrooms had no ventilation. The shower heads were rusted and the room could use a renovation overall. Our room card didn't work and we had to call the security guard to let us into our room every time we returned to our room. Our late night new years celebrations ended up being cancelled due to trying to resolve all of these issues. Luckily the hotel reimbursed us for 1 room's cost for 2 nights. However, this was the most expensive hotel stay of all the hotels I have stayed in and this was the absolute worst facility out of all of them. (I stayed in 4 different hotels all better/cleaner and MUCH cheaper than this one). The only positive thing I can say is that the Wi-Fi worked very well.

Service was pathetic, small low category room
Service was pathetic, small low category room, overprice room rent, no value for money I have paid 5500/night for double bed room, it was so small with small television. Toilet flush was not working properly. Service was pathetic. After calling 4 time and complaining on reception they given 1 complementary towel which supposed to be 2 for double bed room. I stay there for 2 night paid Rs 11000 /- which was total waste. I was trying to checkout next day but it was not possible. I will never recommend to any one this hotel at all.

Ginger Puducherry a blot on Tata’s brand name
This property is a blot on Tata brand. Property is maintained so poorly. Since they brand it budget category, probably they feel customers have to put up with very bad maintenance.

Too far from city center. Food is bad.
Not satisfied. Staff is not responsive. Room cleanliness and facilities not up to the mark. Restaurant and overall food is not good.

The room was good but little bit small but the service is very good one of the staff prabhu is very good food is also good all the tourist places are near by u will get Scotter in hotel it self stay and enjoy the comfort and the most imp is it's secure for couples

The stay at ginger was nice and conmfortable . Reception staff was smily and helpful specially monalisa.Rooms were small but comfortable.house keeping updated daily.We called for extra pillow which was promptly attended too.The reception area was quite open and had cafe coffe day and a small neat restaurent .we wished to stay for two days only, but exteneded our stay for one more day , what more to say.Overall nice experience.

Good place, if it's the only option.
Our stay at Ginger Pondicherry was ok. The room was smaller than all other Gingers I have stayed at. So, less space, tiny 20" TV, paint worn off at some places. But, bathroom was clean. We stayed for 5 days - housekeeping wasn't done on one of the days, we too didn't insist as we were too tired. All in all, decent stay. There are plenty of other good options you can try. The hotel at the rate we got during new year was a definitely a good value for money.

Decent hotel for the price
The hotel was really clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful. The service was faultless and the food was pretty good and quite cheap. The hotel was good value for money but the only issue was the location, it is a bit far from the town centre.

Lousy Bath-towels!
The Wi-Fi never worked all the three days that we stayed there, even after multiple complaints!! The bath-towels were stinking! The bathrooms were BAD! The staff were courteous, but helpless. Service was good, food was OK.

only when you have no other solution in Pondi
the location is the main problem : more than 3 km far from Pondi center, bus stand and railway station. Very inconvenient location. Bad value for money. Service is very poor. Room are very noisy. Should be half the price. Ony if you have no other solution in Pondi.

Hotel stay - ok
The hotel house keeping needs to get better. The plates were never cleared for 2 days. The reception staff needs to be more aware of the place and should be able to provide information. The reception did not know much about the city and the places to visit !! They were not helpful when we needed info / help in the late night and we called them to help us with transport. The t-shirt stall guy is very rude. Looks like they do not want to sell - looks has not heard about customer service. Overall they need to be more service oriented and polite. Like the town, people are lazy and laid back!!

Would have been excellent if the AC worked better
Pondicherry was too hot and they did not have a proper split AC. It was the old system AC and it took lot of time to cool the room. That was the major drawback I have faced. Rest everything was as normal as it can be. Any problem was answered and solved immediately. Affordable for a family if you get to book the rooms in discounted priced.

Not for quality conscious - avoid if you can
After a 2 night stay the foremost thought was - is this really a TATA group hotel. The location stinks, rooms stinks, service is okay, room had black spots on the wall - made us stay away from the room out in the open as much as possible. Service was not TATA quality. The front desk rep promised a even numbered room ( all odd number rooms face the drain, hence strong stench) but did not bother to try. WiFi password never worked.

Bad Experience
Lack of interest in providing the rooms on arrival. Badly maintained rooms and A/C. How in pondicherry can't the A/C not be in working condition? When asked at the reception they lied saying that all room are facing a tripping problem hence the A/C is not working. When we changed the room, the A/C was in better condition.
