Overpriced small room
We booked what was described as a "Luxury Double Room" at £200/night. Our room was very small, just enough to walk round the bed. The mattress on the bed has seen better days. The en-suite shower room was OK. I wouldn't describe this as luxury in any way! Breakfast was good. The location is peaceful with nice views. The staff were friendly. Due to the poor value i wouldn't recommend staying here

Perfect retreat
Very friendly and professional. The Cartford Inn is in a lovely setting with views over the river and fields. Good food and excellent service. One very minor issue, the bed was soft on one side and hard on the other, but apart from that everything was perfect and I'll definitely be back.

Down by the river
From the welcome at the bar to Check-out this was a great stay. They had reserved a table for us ‘just in case ‘ , this on a busy Saturday night was very much appreciated. The room was lovely looking over the river, the bar was well stocked and the dinner excellent, as was breakfast. We will stay here again and visit the art gallery and deli.

Relaxed friendly atmosphere
Upon arrival we were met by a young man with a welcoming smile who showed us to our rooms and very courteosly asked to carry our cases. This set the tone with all other members of staff we encountered during our stay. The rooms overlooked the river and surrounding countryside and are of a good size as are the bathroom and walk-in shower. The cleanliness of the room was of a very high standard. We'd gone there knowing the reputation it had for it's food and weren't disappointed. All four of us were more than pleased with our selections from the menu and hope to return in the not too distant future.

Nice country inn by a river, good for a pint.
The senior staff were very welcoming and charming and the room was clean with touches of luxury. The area is beautiful and the garden a delightful place to have a sundownder in high summer. Service in the restaurant was very very slow at dinner and rather inefficient at breakfast. The room was smartly appointed although the bed was very low and someone else in our party found her's uncomfortable and had to sleep on the floor. Two others struggled as their beds seemed to be uneven apparently. For a "Luxury" room the price was bizarrely high and that's why I wouldn't recommend the hotel.

Beautiful boutique hotel
Excellent stay, beautiful room and fantastic bathroom. We slept wonderfully as it was quiet after around 10 pm. The best bit was breakfast, cooked to order. I’d gladly stay again.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, but I as a CAMRA member found the cost of Pride of Pendle on the expensive side as was the Lakeland Ale, CAMRA have been campaigning to keep the cost of real Ale at a reasonable price and considering that in my area in The Pendal Witch, Pride is £2-65, Holts in the Atherton Arms is £2-22 and Bank Top Flat Cap in the Jolly Nailor is £2-30, £3-50 is London Prices such as one would find in the Doric Arms at Euston Station not in rural Lancashire!

Great Location
This is a really nice pub with rooms. The food in the restaurant was really good and the staff all very friendly especially the chap at breakfast. The room was well planned with the bed in the middle of the room to take advantage of the river views although this did cut down on the floor area. Very nice bathroom too.

OK but could be better.
Looks nice overall and the bar and waiting staff were all young, friendly and personable. Food was good and room was stylishly modern. However, we paid £130/night for a superior room and expected more - lots of small points were wrong: 1. Bed too soft and wobbley. 2. Room was hot and there was no A/C (expected at £130/night). No fan either. 3. Lots of flies - it's a rural area so that's not surprising but fly screens should be used so windows can be left open. 4. Breakfast - fruit and pastries were left uncovered so flies were a problem. 5. Restaurant orders stopped sharp at 8.30pm and the bar closed to the public at 10pm so there was no atmostphere after then. 6. No towel rings in bathroom. 7. Bill was wrong as they added on someone else's meals. It took two attempts to correct!

A wonderful find!
Stayed here en route to Scotland. The Inns owners have created a wonderful relaxing place in which to stay - room was lovely with views of River Wyre. Great restaurant too - dinner was excellent as was breakfast the next day.

Nice rooms
Arriving at hotel was weird, check in was at the bar but I was taken straight to my room although I could have found my own way. Room was really nice and comfy, bathroom lighting was quite dark. Nice old furniture in the rooms, very very tidy and clean, brilliant rain type shower, comfy bed. Restaurant again was a bit strange, service was a bit slow. Forgot to bring me a drink. Menu choice was slim and expensive. Breakfast was nice, whatever you like!!! Will stay here again.

Great hotel and inn off the beaten track
Overnight stay to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday. The Inn is very tastefully refurbished, the rooms clean and we had a top floor room with lovely views of the River Wyre outside the window. The restaurant was excellent, and the staff everywhere were helpful and friendly. It all contributed to a wonderful evening.

I didn't even stay in the hotel because I arrived late and there was no-one to open the door for me. I didn't have any phone calls at all from anyone to tell me that they can wait for me so I can have my room key. Never again !!

Nice, small, family run hotel
This small hotel is located next to the River Wyre and has some lovely rooms. I stayed 4 night with them at 75 pounds per night including breakfast. The room was very nice, with lovely large bed, view of the river and great shower. The room was recently re-done and has great wallpaper. The food is very good, the breakfast has some excellent old time favourites on the menu, like soft boiled eggs with soldiers, and porridge. But it is all home cooked and tastes very fresh and lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful, very caring. I missed that there was no newspaper in the breakfast room. The carpark is very ugly, but large. there is no lift/elevator in the hotel.

All good Breakfast a bit disappointing but we were late down so ... (Evening meal was excellent and that raised our hopes for an equally spectacular breakfast) Overall, a very good place to spend the night.

Really friendly, great food, top accommodation!
What a treat! The room we had was lovely - it was really big and so clean, with a big en-suite bathroom and a shower to die for! The standard of decor, both in the room and throughout is top notch, there's obviously a great attention to detail from everyone here. All of the staff / managers were lovely. The only thing we were a little confused with was that it isn't really clear who to see when checking in and when eating in the evening - this is done at the bar. We saw a few confused people, but overall it's not such a problem when you get the hang of it. You should eat in the restaurant as the food is really good too. - top marks to the chef. We had a wonderful stay and definately recommend you go - we will be going back.

Business trip to Preston
Whenever I visit Peston on business I stay here, despite the fact that it is a little way out of town, but if you're travelling by car the extra distance is well worth it! The surroundings are beautiful (although there's not much in the village apart from the Cartford Inn itself) and the rooms, service and the food are really excellent. I recommend this hotel without hesitation and am looking forward to my next visit!
