A really nice place to spend a weekend (or longer) away from your normal busy life. The property has 8 similar cottages, all in nice positions with different views. There are animals on the property to keep the kids entertained, and only a short drive into the town of Alstonville if you need dinner or some local shopping. The cabin itself was well equipped, and the inclusion of things like clingwrap in the kitchen was a thoughtful gesture I have never seen elsewhere. Would definitely recommend for a nice getaway (or as a halfway stop-over on a big road trip as we did).

Charming accommodation for a night or two away
This was a lovely spot for a quiet getaway. The cottage was spotless with no apparent noise from the main road. It is only a few minutes away from shops and restaurants. We chose to make use of the bbq situated on the front porch which was a nice addition. Overall the cottage is a very good size. The only apparent minor items that I would have liked to have seen provided would be - a pack of tissues, salt and pepper etc. and provision to clean the bbq before and after use. My partner attempted to take a stroll down the walking track but could not due to the path needing mowing and cleaning up. Apart from that, it is a very nice place for a couple or family to have a peaceful time away and we hope to return if we can in the future for a longer stay.

It was a great place, The cabins were modern, clean and spacous. The owners/ staff were friendly. Great for Families or groups of Families or group retreats. Close to all the Northern NSW holiday destinations.

Beautiful spot
Alstonville cottages was the perfect place for us as we had a wedding to attend in Ballina and reception was in goonellaba which was so easy to get to & back. We loved the rainforest walk to duck creek and it was so relaxing especially on the verandah looking out at the beautiful scenery. My daughter enjoyed feeding and patting all the farm animals. Alstonville is an awesome little town for grocery shopping and we had the best breakfast at 86 main cafe. We all slept well the beds are so comfy we would love to visit again in spring summer as my daughter wants to swim in the pool

light airy cabins in bushland setting
We had an quiet and enjoyable stay with no cause for complaint. However, the site and facilities did not quiet hit the mark for the price. Mismatched cutlery and curtain rails, towels which left lots of fluff, peeling silicone in shower, rusty toaster, no bathroom extractor fan, and dirty b-b-q plate let it down. Car parking space was extremely tight and could only be entered or exited in multiple movements - and we had a small car!. Unit was in constant shadow from surrounding vegetation (which provided a very private forest setting). Level of service was limited and guests are requested to take their garbage to a central bin area. We stayed for more than a week and only got one change of linen. While the cottage was not dirty, there were corners where the dust had obviously not been cleaned since last occupation. A little more attention to detail, finish, and servicing could lift the standard and make this a superb location.

Only a brief stopover for us but accommodation very family friendly. Located in quiet and pretty surroundings, the animals were a big hit with our three kids. Affordable and easy stay - thanks!

Great quiet spot
We go with friends each year for a baseball tournament. Lots of space for the kids to play and a great shared space for all to meet. And there's a wood fired pizza oven. Fantastic.

Peaceful cottage with gorgeous views
We are a family of 5 . We found the cottages to be spacious & clean. It was a very quiet, relaxing setting. Julie & Craig were the most friendly, helpful hosts & made our stay very comfortable.

Private and Peaceful
The staff at Alstonville Country Cottages (Craig and Julie), were so friendly and helpful. Always happy to share conversation, whilst being respectful of space and privacy. The accommodation was comfortable, the kitchenette had everything we needed, and the grounds were beautifully maintained. Our kids LOVED feeding the animals and playing with the sporting equipment. Ocean views became the icing on the cake. Can't wait to go back again!

OK stay @ Alstonville
I think this property would be best suited to winter/cool weather stays for families, as it was a bit unseasonably steamy during our stay and without aircon it was a bit uncomfortable even with fans. Everything was great, except I became aware of my reliance on technology because there are no landline telephones, no mobile phone reception, and no wifi reception (contrary to the website). I do think that this depends on what cottage you are in as we were right down the bottom. So my tip is to research/print out maps and places you want to go beforehand and don't assume you can just google when you get there. If you are ok with exploring to find food options obviously this isn't a problem at all - but we had a furry child with us that we couldn't take just anywhere.

Lovely hosts, very friendly and accommodating.
Lovely hosts, very helpful. Cottages very comfortable and a great place for kids with the pool and feeding chickens, donkey and horse and sheep. They loved it!! A beautiful view of Alstonville down to the Ocean. Very pleasant.

Great location and fantastic hosts
We stayed for two nights and loved it. The hosts, Julie and Craig, are very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to assist us with every request-even to get a few of the fantastic free-range eggs for breakfast. The location is second to none, a quiet location in rolling hills, but still close to the beach; perfect for us. The accommodation are basic but very functional and perfectly located cottages/cabins with all the creature comfort we needed. Overall, we can only highly recommend Alstonville Country Cottages, they are a fantastic get-away and we will certainly be returning.
