Managers on site or easily contactable, helpful and clear communication re parking and access. Great family and couples breakaway. Walking distance to cafes, groceries , beach right in front and wonderful boardwalk for cycling and walking up and down the coast.

San Simeon is in a great location right on the beachfront. The building is well-designed with appealing outlooks from all rooms towards the ocean. The 2 Bedroom apartment was light, bright and spacious. It was comfortably furnished, although beds were a little firm for our liking. The apartment and property was well-maintained and clean. Requests were quickly met by the property manager. We loved the pool area, with a great pool and spa, and the rooftop spa and sauna were also excellent!

The Unit was just BEAUTIFUL. View was Spectacular. Even had birds drop in to say Hi each morning.

The location is great although the manager is not. On the Saturday we arrived there was a smoke alarm going off throughout the evening. I called the manager Virginia to get this checked. She confirmed that this was in the room above us and that the owner had not left a key to check it. She told me that it was likely to be the battery and there was nothing she could do about it as it was too late in the evening. She suggested that we all move into lounge as it was quieter there…! I queried this further and she ignored me and left abruptly. I called her and informed her that I would contact the fire department if she did not resolve this as there was a risk that it might not be the battery and that not resolving this would be negligent on her part. She responded that I was harassing her… Eventually she contacted the owner and arranged for a locksmith to resolve this at 11pm. As a manager of a holiday resort her job is to ensure that the guests are looked after and she has a duty of care to ensure their safety. She was rude and dismissive and her negligence could place guests lives at risk should there actually be a fire in the apartment block. This is not the first time as there are numerous similar ‘alarming’ complaints on travel reviews linked to her.

3 days in a row we got a note slid under the door saying ‘our records show you are leaving tomorrow’ along with instructions for our departure. It felt like they wanted us to leave early.

Great location, beautiful view of the beach and lovely sea breezes. Apartment was spacious and comfortable. Kids loved the pool and spa, which looks out to the ocean. If you have mobility issues, I’d suggest you ask for a ground floor apartment, otherwise getting to and from the pool/beach would be quite difficult due to the location of the lifts.

Right on the beach, only a bike track between you and the sea, so a great view. We walked about 7 minutes up the beach to the lifesavers, coffee, grocery & dining options. Visitors could park easily in the side street. Property has a swimming pool & spa. Large spacious 2 bedroom unit.

It was a great location close to many cafe's, restaurants, and supermarkets. It was spacious for my family. The BBQ area was really lovely and clean. The spa and pool were great too

Oceans Views were amazing. Great pool. Wifi not good , but you stay there for the beachfront . We stayed in a standard 2 bedroom , which was good, but dated and no a/c or main room ceiling fan .Next time definitely pay the extra to upgrade to superior.

Beach holiday
Lovely spacious apartment with full wall glass windows overlooking the ocean. Being spring it was windy so could not enjoy the balcony as such as we would have liked. Excellent pool area & grass area. Walking distance to shops & restaurants. Lovely to just walk out onto the beach for walking & swim. Will definitely stay again.

Unacceptable behavior from the manager
I am a seasoned traveler and have never written a review however my experience at San Simeon was mixed . I booked this last minute and it was the cheapest option at the time . The location is good and the unit was ocean facing and pleasant with a balcony overlooking the pool and beach . When we arrived there was no one at reception. I phoned the contact number three times with no reply , and after 15mins Virginia appeared to book us in no apology for keeping us waiting . Once in the unit , the door to the second bedroom broke leaving me locked in the room , lucky I was able to exit the room via the balcony when I phoned Virginia she came to the room and tried to fix the lock with a knife . The following day without informing us she entered the unit with a tradesman to fix the lock . My son who works night shift was sleeping they banged on his bedroom door as they now wanted to replace both locks . The next day the second toilet ran out of toilet roll when I phoned to request a additional toilet roll I was informed we had to provide our own toilet paper , when I explained there was only half a roll to begin with , two additional rolls were delivered to the unit . On checking out I drop the two sets of keys in the key return box and left a voice message as the manager to confirm receipt of the keys . Virginia phone me to confirm that the keys had been returned but then berated me over the phone for leaving a a negative symbol regarding the check . Unacceptable behavior indeed

Hi Janet I had previously replied to your in house feedback in regard to why the office was unattended. As your booking was received the day of your arrival I called the contact mobile phone number on your booking twice and also sent a text message to ascertain your arrival time as I knew I would be attending to other matters in the resort, however I did not get any return call regarding my messages. It appears the mobile phone number provided on the booking was not the mobile phone number you used to contact me. I certainly did apologise regarding missing your call and explained to you I was attending to a matter outside the Ground Floor unit and didn’t hear my mobile ring. It was unfortunate the door knob broke and when you called I responded promptly. I didn’t try to fix it with a knife I used the knife to release the latch. I said I would hopefully get someone to fix the knob that evening and if not would be the next morning. The locksmith arrived at 8am and as it was too early I advised he would need to come back and he advised approx. 12pm but could be earlier depending on his other job. I texted the number that you had called me on and left the following message “Hi Janet re door knob in U19 the locksmith will be here around 12 today”. The locksmith arrived earlier at 10.30am so I accompanied him to U19 I knocked 3 times and entered calling if anyone was there and there was no response. When we entered I noticed that the “other bedroom door knob was missing so I assumed it also needed fixing. I knocked on the door a couple of times and your son answered and I asked him what had happened to the knob and he said it just fell off. The locksmith reattached the knob and it seemed to be working okay. I also texted you advising “Hi Janet the door knob has been replaced”. Our resort is a self serviced complex and we provide complimentary guest amenities like toilet paper on arrival and if you require additional items you can purchase them. When I called you I did not berate you I asked you if you had given in-house feedback as I received an email. You advised you hadn’t provided feedback but certainly would be doing so now. When I replied to the in-house feedback it had your name on the feedback. I am not sure what I could have done to please you during your stay.

Thank you for taking the time provide your feedback. Feedback regarding the standard and interior of the rooms is welcomed and appreciated. As you can appreciate not everyone has the same tastes in furnishings and all our units are individually owned. All apartments have either an small electric heater or oil heater stored in the wardrobe. The pool spa is set at 36 degrees and when the spa jets are used it will drop the temperature down a couple of degrees. We are sorry the apartment was not up to your expectations but hoped you enjoyed our unique location of absolute beachfront. We do hope that we can welcome you back to San Simeon in the near future.

Comfortable, spacious apartment, bed a little hard for us but that’s personal preference.Bus stop right outside, views lovely on beach side. Unserviced so bring loo paper!

Paradise by the sea
This was our second stay here and we were very impressed. A lovely big spacious unit that was well appointed and maintained. Onsite managers were helpful and friendly. the resort amenities are also well maintained. The views are magnificent. We can't wait to stay again.

Great location exactly what we wanted for our geta
We have stayed at San Simon a few times now and pleasantly surprised. The units come with all facilities to make your stay as easy as possible. As the complex is becoming dated but not uninviting renovations are expected as we uncounted upon our arrival, but management looked after us. We booked our getaway with 2 kids under 2 and management arranged our room to avoid the noise from the tradesmen... we couldn't be happier with the apartments or the service from management. I highly recommend these appartments as a place to unwind

Beach beauty
Hotel has unprecedented direct beach access. The view and the feel of the place is instantly relaxing and brings you back to earth. The quality of the refurbished rooms is exceptional. Only point to remember, you are very close to the airport and if you don't like aircraft noise, it will irritate you.

Pleasing stay
Great location only metres from beach and a nearby patrolled area. Few eateries close by - walking distance. Was odd to have NO reception for a Saturday arrival. Apartment was very nice, clean, tidy, bright and had a well stocked kitchen for cooking. Only two complaints - no aircon which was ok for us as it was windy and that cooled the place down but I suspect on other days it could be a little unpleasant as no fans in the livings areas either. Fans in bedrooms were good. No screens on the doors so when you left them open at night time and had lights on - the bugs came in. Can't have everything I guess. Pool and Spa were great. People we met were great. We did enjoy the stay and would stay again but not in the heat of summer.

Perfect location.
Lovely place to stay , only had one night would have loved to stay longer , so handy to everything we needed. Was so beautiful on the beach first thing in the morning . So nice to be able to walk straight onto the beach.

Great facilities in a fabulous location
We loved the location and facilities of this accommodation. The unit was a great size and clean with a fully equiped kitchen. We used the pool and tennis court, and loved the access to the beach and local shops/cafes. We did struggle without a fan in the main living area and had trouble with the noise from the ceiling fan in the main bedroom, but we eased this a little by buying a cheap fan. The caretakers, along with other occupants, were fantastic when we experienced a medical emergency with a family member and that will never be forgotten.

Great location and view of the beach.
I had paid extra for a superior room but it was very dated with broken tiles on the balcony and old furnitures. The information desk was somewhat tired and could be improved. However you are right on the beach and the views were breath taking. I felt secure in the building and the appartment was roomy with a decent balcony.

Situated with the beach front as your backyard magnificent location you do have to put up with being on the flight path from Cooloongatta Airport though.
