The hotel was a most beautiful old farmhouse with lovely views. However, we had travelled by train from Toulouse to Auch, and had expected to find a taxi service. We arrived at Auch station about 8.30pm and there wasn't a taxi to be had. If we had not spoken to two Norwegian women who had rung their hotel ,who had in turn rung a taxi firm, we would have been stranded. We had spoken to our hotel proprietor telling her of our difficulty but there wasn't an immediate offer of a lift! When we asked at breakfast about public transport, we were told that there was not a bus service, and it was very difficult indeed to get a taxi. So we asked could we walk into Auch but were told that the roads (narrow country roads) were too dangerous to walk along! The hotel only offered breakfast (basic continental) and just a couple of packets of coffee or fruit teas for consumption in the room. There were no restaurants or cafes within easy reach, though we did see a motel which was about 3k away, but the lady of the hotel did not tell us about this until too late. A tricky situation indeed! How to eat! We left a number of days before we had planned. The hotel should clearly say that guests should only arrive with their own transport. Otherwise, a lovely place.
