What no mattress cover?
Most of the staff were very obliging and courteous. The room felt small for a couple and the bathroom had to be entered sideways to get to the toilet. The bath was cleanish, but a deep clean of the room would not have gone amiss. Limited power outlets for hairdryer, not a lady functional room. There was no mattress cover on the mattress, even if they appeared new. The pillows could do with being upgraded. There was one day that we did not receive clean towels, may be because they were on the side, not in the bath. Accommodation tended to be noisy with occupants coming and going, without undue consideration of other occupants. No sign on doors to request such activity. The accommodation could do with some renovation, there were some areas that had high traffic occurrences. A sprucing of paint would not go amiss. Breakfast were reasonable, pleasant staff for most days, but different approaches to offering breakfast, menu, no menu, asking for room number or not.

Not happy
Room was small , carpet had stains , no chair in room, window in bathroom rotten , also shower head kept falling off, I I had a burger meal and the base of the burger was very hard , breakfast was ok but the waitress didn’t seem very interested, should’ve been told that if we wanted toast we had to get it ourselves and that the toaster was outside the dining area

Cheap and cheerful stay
Hotel was very cheap, convenient for the motorway and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The bedroom and bathroom needed an update but I think they are all slowly being refurbished. Unfortunately the floorboards from the room above creak appallingly when stepped on so we didn't get the lie in we were hoping for!

Lovely room and excellent restaurant!
We stayed for one night on a Friday and were very impressed with our experience overall. Lovely decor with a slight quirk which would appeal to most and clean comfortable room with a very welcome amount of coffee, tea, sugar, milks and a bag of fudge! TV was a welcome feature after a delicious and filling meal in the restaurant. The restaurant has excellent quality food and generous portions. I was particularly enamoured with the tradition jars of sweets behind the bar that can be bought by weight. A lovely place which we have plans to visit again and bring a friend!

Swan Hotel
Very friendly and helpful staff, chef very accommodating as I am a vegetarian. Good variety f dishes on the menu with daily specials. Suggested that we had a breakfast box as we were leaving early each morning to attend Badminton Horse trials. Would definitely stay again

Ok for one night
Stayed for one night. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and called a taxi for us as local taxis are a lot cheaper than the Bristol based ones! Only downside was the mugs in room were dirty, not sure if they had even been cleaned or just rinsed out. Breakfast was excellent.

Somewhat Dissapointing
First time at the hotel for an overnight stay and to use the meeting facilities. Room was acceptable enough but having stayed in other local establishments I wouldn't return to The Swan as I believe standards elsewhere are higher. In general the whole place looks shabby and felt unclean in the meeting room hallway, it needs a good scrub and a lick of paint. I tried not to be put off when viewing the meeting room a month ago to find the chef asleep on the sofa in a sleeping bag!!! Should've gone with my initial impression! Meeting facilities were uninspiring along with the mediocre lunch and although the staff were helpful enough I didn't get the feel of any genuine warmth with their customer service and given that around £300 was spent at the establishment I wasn't even asked how the experience was - a missed opportunity when this is a monthly occasion for myself. Won't be repeating the experience.

The close proximity to the motorway was one of the reasons that I chose this hotel. My room looked out on to the busy road at the front of the property - there is noise from this however the triple glazing does help to dull it sufficiently. I wouldn't say that the place was that special, not perfectly clean and the room was fairly basic and beginning to show its wear. Breakfast was brilliant though - plenty of hot coffee, good choice and very taasty.

Hotel close to motorway access.
We wanted a hotel with parking to visit friends in Bristol. Wanted it close to motorway for Friday arrival. Swan fitted the bill.

Warm, clean and comfortable
A bit pricy for what you get. The staff were lovely and the breakfast excellent [I even took a photo I was so impressed]. I did not like that the bed did not have a mattress protector on it and requested an extra sheet to put between myself and the mattress which was swiftly dealt with with no issue. The carpet was disgusting, but had be cleaned. Warm, clean and comfortable.

Room for improvement
Overnight stay, arrived later than hoped due to bad traffic. Ate evening meal at pub, nice but quite pricey, good atmosphere. Room fairly comfortable, fudge was a nice touch. Bed was soft and lumpy, didn't sleep very well. We needed to get an early start. Breakfast was advertised as 7.30am start but the staff were just setting up. The hot water for drinks was barely Luke warm so my tea was undrinkable. Filter coffee available but too strong for me. The water container didn't heat up until we were ready to leave. The breakfast was OK but meagre portions 1 rasher bacon, 1 egg, 1 mushroom, 1 thin slice of black pudding, small pot of very watery baked beans and half tomato. The toaster was extemely slow, perhaps an investment in a toaster that doesn't take over 10 minutes to lightly toast a slice of bread would aid the smooth running of this B&B! Consequently we were late in setting off for our appointment - disappointed overall.

Xmas family weekend
Exceeded expectations. Room lovely and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts were amazing. All food sourced fairly locally. We will return and have recommended it to family for wedding in July.

absolutely top rate service from staff, excellent room, ideal location close but not too close to motorway. Small gripe!, stool or seat could be provided in room to allow computer use in comfort. ordering system for breakfast could be better.

It was well located - the staff were friendly and efficient. The food was good. The room was dated and the bed too small and soft for us.

excellent value for money, and great service.
We expected a basic room and service, but we got a well presented clean and comfortable room, the building exterior had a bit of uniqueness and well thought out little decoration features. Service was good , breakfast excellent... So it did exceed my expectations.

Convenient hotel for Bristol and M4/M5
The staff were very pleasant and welcoming for our entire stay and hence across various shifts and staff rotas. The room was spacious and clean. It overlooks a relatively busy main road leading to a motorway. However this did not bother us as overnight the traffic does die down and the windows are double glazed. We were there over a Bank Holiday weekend and they were fully booked and still took the time to show us to our room and take their time. The internet was fast and reliable. The included breakfast was very good and there was as much as you wished. The twin beds were in fact put together and hence were with 1 sheet underneath and 1 duvet on top. Hence a large double bed in reality. Perfect location for us being near Bristol and yet not Bristol hotel prices. Excellent value for money and would stay again.

Easy to get too
very easy to get too justoff M5/M4 ideal as a stop off to get somewhere, despite it being a pub as well as a hotel there was no noise or disturbance from the pub which closed at 11pm [no late night revlers] good food. Beds were not the most comfy and there didn't appear to be anywhere else nearby to eat or drink. overall good value for money at the rate paid

Mixed Review
There was plenty of free parking and we were warmly greeted on arrival by a very nice member of staff behind the bar in the pub. This excellent service continued and all the staff we had dealings with were very pleasant, friendly and helpful and even arranged a late check out for us and lent my wife a hair-drier. We had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, and the quality of both for and service was very good, as was the real ale on offer. The room however, let things down a bit. It was clean enough but the bathroom was a bit tired. The electric shower was not very powerful and the rail where the shower head was attached to (so the height could be adjusted) kept falling off the wall. Noise was also a problem. We were in room 8 on the ground floor and only a narrow pavement separated us from the busy A38. Double glazing was in place but the noise still permeated the room, and of course we were unable to get any fresh air by opening the window. There was no sound-proofing between us and the room above, which appeared to have a wooden floor. The guests there entered their room after midnight and appeared to spend the next fifteen minutes or so, rolling heavy suitcases across the floor ensuring that we were left wide awake. To sum up therefore, the staff and food and drink could not be faulted. They are a great asset to The Swan. I would only return if I could be guaranteed another, quieter room.

Amazing service excellent food
my wife & I booked an over-night here to visit Bristol the hotel was easy to find & convenient for M5 with ample parking behind the hotel. the room although small was clean the mattress was a little soft, shower was not a power shower but adequate for over-night stay. The real plus was the quality of service, excellent well done great service, a warm welcome and instant attention the minute we walked through the door , a cosy bar plus restaurant made for an enjoyable evening with a great choice of dishes on the menu we were surprised and appreciative of the quality of ingredients, and the presentation of the dishes, which i would expect from an expensive restaurant, hats off to the chefs and I mean chefs as opposed to cooks compared to well known chains. All the food we ate was home cooked with fresh produce NOT frozen I would definitely recommend to eat there with the added bonus of not having to drive I was able to enjoy a couple of glasses of wine with our meal, plus once again excellent service. The quality of the food & wine represents great value for money considering the price. One other plus I enjoyed the breakfast again the food was excellent with a good choice I would definitely recommend for the service & food, we will be returning there again.

Pros - room was comfortable and well priced - staff were friendly and helpful - good inclusive breakfast cons - mattress was overly soft - after an epically long wait we expected a better quality of food, which for the cost was very average

Noisy room
The hotel was lovely in many respects. The design inside each room was unique & interesting. Even the bathroom was spacious & accommodating. The only problem was the noise we could hear at night whilst sleeping. Sadly for this hotel, the main reason you need a hotel for- sleeping- was left wanting due to the creaking floorboards we could hear from above us. We could hear doors opening and closing from along our corridor. We could even hear the ridiculously squeeky bed we were in! The minute one of us moved, the bed was so noisy, we both woke up. Everything else was fine.

Nice local pub with good rooms
The pub is very nice and good was very good. The hallway to the room smelt a bit foisty and when the person above me came in I could hear every step they made but other than that it was a nice place to stay

Very friendly and helpful staff.
We arrived early but were able to check in before the official check in time which was very helpful as we can the go into Bristol and not worried about arriving too late to check in at night. All the members of staff were very friendly and cheerful. The room was clean and comfortable and has tea making facilities. The included breakfast was excellent. A very pleasant stay indeed. Will certainly book there again.

Terrific value for money.
The premises and our room were immaculately clean, staff were friendly and helpful and the quality of the food was superb. Had two dinners and breakfasts here and all were exceptional for pub food. Other bigger hotels nearby but the Swan is much cheaper and still great quality. They even offer takeaway breakfast sandwiches! 100% recommended.

Great value for a clean and comfy couple of beds
My daughter and I stayed here on a quick sightseeing trip during our vacation in the UK. The Swan was a perfect place to stay - quiet, clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the food at the pub was surprisingly creative and tasty. We ended up eating dinner and breakfast there. It functioned as a classic inn - a place to stay in the middle of a long journey. Oh, and it was extremely reasonably priced. I highly recommend it!

Convenient for Bristol
The beds were comfortable and the room clean, though a little odd in being in a house in the garden. Lovely towels. It was very easy to find, just off the motorway and very convenient for Bristol. The only drawback was traffic noise from the road (A38) in front of the hotel/pub, not from the motorway. I still slept quite well so that was not a big issue for me. Friendly staff and a decent breakfast. Didn't eat at other times.

Convenient Location for Aztec West
Needed an overnight stay near Aztec West, I also wanted an evening meal. I used the Swan and it's restaurant and found the hotel perfectly adequate and the restaurant very good. I thoroughly enjoyed a well cooked main course of pan fried salmon on a pea risotto and a small cheese board with a couple of glasses of Sauvignon Blanc.
