The hotel was in a great location, just off Nevsky Prospekt. You can walk to the Hermitage in 12 minutes. The room was actually very large with big windows and a newish bathroom. After that, things go downhill. The breakfast was "Soviet-basic" - fried egg, hot dogs, bliny and "cheese" slices individually wrapped in plastic. No fruits, no veggies, no variety. The staff, which seemed to consist entirely of teenage girls, was "clueless". Ran out of hot water during my morning shower-twice! If items for breakfast ran out, they were not replenished unless you insisted. On the morning of checkout, they were unable to order a cab to take us to Finland Station, for what reason we couldn't figure out. Ended up on the Metro-just as well, it's much cheaper and drops you off right at the station. Almost nothing was done proactively. It didn't happen unless you specifically asked for it. It's too bad, this place has potential, but the staff needs to improve a lot and the breakfast needs much more variety. As it is now, I would not stay here again.
