DISGRACEFUL!
At no point should anyone book this Hotel! It has been up for sale since February 2021 and is currently closed. There are hundreds of letters inside the front door that nobody has been round to even clear them. The OYO group take your money from you, even though you take the pay at hotel option. Hotels.com know about this and they still haven't removed it from the Hotels.com site. Don't waste your time, effort and money on this property.

The hotel is no longer open. I could see tons of unopened letters on the porch and no opened door.

Clean and comfortable, needs a bit of TLC
Double room, comfortable and clean bed. Toilet little cramped but full bath en suite. Whole hotel, as mentioned by others, could use a little care and attention but staff friendly, breakfast good and hot.

Worst visit in my life
This was one of the worst visites ive been thru by far. The manager at the hotel has no serviceskills what so ever. He ended up lashing out on me for using their microwave (which the receptionist let me using). The receptionist let me use the microwave, yet he spend 10 minutes yelling at me for using it, and lashing out at the receptionist infront of me. Regarding the hotel in generall, we could not close or lock the balcony door, so we had to sleep in out jackets. The warm water in the shower did not work. They did not have a kettle or a hairdrier in the room, which the was supposed to have. It was spiderweb all over the room and toilet. The manager at the hotel clearly does not care at all for customer service and have a real atittudeproblem. The only positive was the amazing and helpful young girl at the reception.

Don’t always believe the negatives.
This hotel was just fine. I had read some terrible reviews and my expectations were very low but I fact it was perfectly nice. Dated and a little worn but clean and sheets clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. And parking. It is a little out the way as busses are the closest public transport but I was perfectly happy to stay there. The garden is enormous. We missed breakfast so cannot comment on that. If I found a need to stay in Chigwell again I would be happy to stay there.

Not good at all
I would not recommend this hotel, apart from a good breakfast the rest was terrible. The shower was ok but the shower head holder was broken. The bed sheets were perfect and clean but the area behind the bed had not been hoovered for months, possibly longer. I only found this out because on my return to my room on my second night the bed had not been made although clean sheets were provided. The stair carpet on way to the 2nd floor was badly torn and sections of wallpaper were hanging off the wall. Overall I would say The Ridgeway Hotel has been neglected for many years with no sign of improvement and a lackadaisical approach to cleanliness.

Shabby, paper thin walls - Be Warned!
Not great, used just for business purposes as a place to rest my head for a few hours where on return at around 1:30am I was kept awake by the constant talking of the couple next door. Could hear everything so much so that I vacated the room and left to continue my onwards journey without any sleep through the night. Only 50 quid so no great loss but still annoying. The room was very shabby but again it was just a place to rest my head from a long day working in London. The walls are paper thin hence the reason for my quick departure. However the check-in was excellent and the staff were very friendly even offering to tell the couple to be quiet which I declined as I didn't want any hassle. You pay for what you get I suppose and thanks to the ignorance of that couple next door I won't be staying again. If you like shabby, paper thin walls for your room then this is the place for you!

The staff were professional but the room had no tv even though I was given a remote when I asked for a reduction of 10 pound was told this was not possible as the owner was not back for a couple of hours told them that I would leave a review explaining this but still nothing. So here it is.also the shower head was held on with cable ties.wished I stayed at the local premier inn 25 pounds more but tv and breakfast

Stay away from Ridgeway hotel- below any standard
This is not fit to be a hotel.very dingy place. Smelly and stained carpet,beddings. The whole room smells, bathroom water keeps dripping. Doors do not lock. They still use olden days keys. Very arrogant owner and zero customer service. I had to abandon my money and go find Nother hotel because this was not fit to sleep in. Stay away from Ridgeway hotel. very pricey and very poor condition and even worse than a motel, Expedia should delist this place.

The hotel is reasonably priced, however, it is very run down, the carpet on the stairs is threadbare and peeling paint everywhere. My room was small but had adequate facilities. I noticed the smoke detector in my room was covered up with a plastic bag, I mentioned this to the receptionist and she ensured it would be removed. The room also smelt faintly of cigarettes (probably why the smoke detector was covered up!) Later on that day the smoke detector was still covered, I spoke to the receptionist (a different one this time) and she said she couldn’t do anything until the next day. In the end I had to climb on a chair and remove the bag myself which was not ideal given that I am 4 months pregnant. The breakfast was nice nice enough however I will not be staying here again.

Day trip to visit friends
Excellent quiet area and no disturbance with traffic. Staff welcoming Bed was very uncomfortable!! Didn't get a good night's sleep.

Very disappointed and unhappy
The ridgeway hotel was different from any hotel I've ever been to. They requested to be paid when we entered. So we felt compelled to stay the entire trip even though we we not happy with service and the cleanliness of the place. The carpet was dirty and smelly. The room did not have an iron the breakfast was very greesey they took the key every time we went out. They lock the entrance door at midnight. The reception person is the cook. Front desk did not have a person there all the time so there is a long wait to get the iron, or anything you would need. We needed a fork and to warm up food and and they refuse to heat up the food and they reluctantly gave the fork. Really bad service and the place was old and dirty. Need renovation. The only thing that was good about this place is it was it a nice residential and safe neighbourhood and buses pass by there often. We enjoyed the night person because her demeanour was quite warm.

Basic budget hotel
The staff are very friendly and courteous, but certainly not the cleanest of hotels. The curtains did not operate properly in the room and general maintenance throughout building is somewhat lacking. The noise in the hotel was above what I expected, with paper thin walls and constant banging throughout the night. However a very good bar is located in the hotel and the barman meets you with a warm and friendly greeting. A good budget hotel, but not recommended if you want somewhere quiet and clean.

Wanted to stay just outside London and to have easy access to tube station. Hotel was a bit tired and dated but staff were nice. Breakfast was average.
