Terrible experience both with the hotel n expedia
We arrived at the hotel at about 9 pm and the hotel was closed. My boyfriend was in luxemburg at some friend house and pass by the day before our arrival at hotel to confirm and everything was good. However when we got there it was closed. Also the mercure sign had been taken off so we could not even found it. There was one around. Finally some builder inside likely saw us and he told us to go to another hotel of the same company arcon. No expedia or the hotel told us about this. Expedia didn’t even know about this. Expedia had to talk for more than an hour with the new hotel to agree what to do. We already paid the room online and we didn’t want to pay again! Eventually we got a room for no surcharge at 11.30pm. terrible experience and very disorganize companies.

The hotel was locked and dark when we arrived. We had no prior warning. A sign on the door directed us to a nearby travel office which was also locked and dark. We got a room elsewhere. Applied for refund with Hotels.com.

Interesting hotel
Close to bus/train station Walking distance to major attractions of the city. Even though they offer free pickup/drop off at from/to the airport, you have to reserve it a day prior to arrival and a day prior to departure ( which is not stated on your listing)

The best hotel near The Luxembourg Central Station
The receptionist was friendly, the room was comfy. The only downside was the restaurant didn't properly respond to my room service and I have to called again after an hour because my order didn't come.

Good choice for a winter overnight. Great food.
It was ok. Not great. The lobby is cold and right on the place de la gare. The check-in was fast and friendly. My room was next to the elevator but I didn't ask to change it. Still, you don't usually put a single woman traveler next to the elevator and stairwell. The highlight was dinner in the restaurant. Excellent choices, prices and service. Very cheerful and pleasant.

The hotel sits opposite the train station, which is great to those arriving by train. We had a car and had to pay for parking, which is not ideal but is ok. The room's carpet was disgusting, all stained, smelling like cigarettes. There wasn't hot water in the room on the night we arrived.

Very dated and noisy rooms. Dirty interior and needed a total refurb. Staff were ok not very inviting or helpful. I would not recommend

Good location opposite the train station, although the area is typically seedy. Quick efficient check in. My room facing the street was in dire need of a refresh. With no air-conditioning the room was in uncomfortably hot, even in October. The advertised airport shuttle was not available either to or from the airport! Breakfast was good.

In general a nice hotel - our room was large with very modern furnishings, well equiped. The hotel was in a good location - opposite the central rail and bus stations, However our aurconditioning was not working well and we coukd niot open our balcony door. Recetion staff were slow to respond and after many follow uo calls told us the air conditioning was working but set higher than perhaps we liked. We insisted on having the balcony door opened which they eventually did. It was now cooler in the room but very noisy. So two poor nights - spoilt the stay completely.

Central hotel
Reception very helpful, situated opposite main line station, 10 minute walk from centre where most of the restaurants/bars are. A walk to the Grund is a must. Do not take a taxi from the airport (45 euros for a 4 mile trip) take the 16 bus (2 euros, free on Sundays) stops out side station.

Nice hotel, great if you are travelling by train
A nice hotel across the road from the train station so in a great position if you are travelling by train. However, we travelled by car and although there was a car park right next to the hotel it was a bit expensive so don't know if I'd recommend it for drivers. Be aware that the rate does not include brakfast but there are lots of restaurants offering breakfast (including the hotel restaurant). There are lots of things to do in the city and the hotel is a great base to explore from.

A Great Place to Stay
I stayed only one night. The hotel was great, staff were very helpful. The hotel is across the street from the train station. I flew Ryanair to Brussels and took shuttle to Luxembourg. Bus dropped me across the street from the hotel. The room was huge, although I did opt to go out for breakfast which I would recommend others do.

Old hotel, rooms look well worn with many scuffs on the walls. No main light in the room. TV signal was like stepping back to 1980. Staff at reception are helpful. Overall, not worth the money paid.

Only ONE bottle of greeting water for family stay
I asked the hotel customer service man at the counter in the morning before we went out "Would it be nice for each of us (Adult only) to have a welcome bottle of water?" The man looked at me with his stern face and bold grey eyes :"NO". "So we have to share the bottle of water?" ==> "Yes!" ==> "That's fine, OK." ==> "I never come to this hotel again" instinctively popping up to my mind.

OK hotel, very close to train station
Functional hotel, a little dated, but incredibly close to the train station and a short walk from the centre so very convenient. Friendly staff, check-in and check-out very efficient. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room but has a fridge and free wifi.

The room appeared very old and dirty. The carpet had bleach stains and the look of the room made me worry about bed bugs. I wore socks or shoes the entire time because I didn't want to walk on the carpet. I didn't feel safe walking outside alone, the neighborhood wasn't very nice.

I Stayed at the Mercure for 1 night on a solo getaway. I had a large exec' room which was very spacious. Furnishings and carpet were a little tired but the room was comfortable and very clean. The exec' room also included a safe, mini bar, wifi access, bath robe/slippers & complementary toiletries. Staff at the hotel were very helpful and polite. The free airport shuttle was a bonus too.

Hotel was in an ok location. Close to central station and 15-20 minute walk from city centre. Hotel itself is quite outdated. Bedroom rug was worn out and made the room feel a bit dirty. Should have spent a more money to stay in nicer hotel.

The staff at reception were very disorganised. I had to fight to get the free airport shuttle that was included. On the way back to the airport, I was made to stay in the car while the taxi driver called the hotel to check my story because reception hadn't advised they would cover the cost!

Restaurant and lobby were great. The rooms are old and showed it. Great location for the trains and they say they have a free shuttle for the airport. I unfortunately was unable to get the 'free' shuttle and a taxi was way to expensive (40 euros) sop the bus was my only option and the staff told me the wrong bus to board.

Shocked its a Mercure hotel its more of a brothel
The hotel is extremely out dated. The mattresses have significant dents/worn out springs. We were moved to a second room with a better bed however had extremely loud people in the room next to us. And the hotel said they could do nothing. At 11:30pm we had two call girls knock on our door releasing they had the wrong room and we're looking for the room next to us. We finally were moved to another room and face the same problem with the bed mattresses being completely out of date with significant dents in them.

Excellent hotel across the central station
Beautiful (if not luxurious) hotel that is across the train station. Very clean and calming. Staff is very helpful and friendly. 10 minutes walking distance to the city center. Could not be happier.

awful night
We booked a double room through the free night redeem scheme. When we got there, the man in the reception said they ran out of double room and have to give us a twin room which I am not happy about. The bed was uncomfortable, it felt like the mattress was very old and worn, when I sleep in it, I feel like I am sinking. There was no lighting in the ceiling for the bedroom except the lamp. The carpet needs replacing, you can see the colour difference from under the bed and the other areas. The shower screen doesn't stop the water coming out when you take a shower. The tv is ancient. I was very unhappy.

Pleasantly surprised - fantastic stay
We weren't sure what to expect having read some of the reviews but we had an excellent stay here. The staff were lovely, the hotel is well situated, the room was enormous with a very comfortable bed and great facilities. If you are the type of person who really worries about out of date décor or a worn carpet then don't bother staying here but you will be missing out. The only possible extra thing we could have wanted was a kettle in the room. We would recommend this hotel highly and will definitely stay again if we return to Luxembourg.;

Excellent rooms and directly opposite the station
A very grand and impressive hotel. Queen size beds in the double rooms, supremely comfortable and plenty of pillows unlike some hotels. Bathroom very nice and everything was in good condition, if slightly dated. Excellent location and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
