I always like staying at the Mosser because of its nice location away from the scrappy areas of SF. The surrounding area has a nice vibe and the property feels safe. The rooms are small, but adequate for a few nights stay. This time however, I felt uncomfortable because the heat radiator was on and there was no way to turn down the temperature. What was worse is when I mentioned that to the front staff about the faulty radiator, the attendant promised me a maintenance service, but nothing was done to it by the end of the day. I will not mind staying here again, but I hope the management notes the maintenance issues related to this old property and the negligence of the staff.

It is down to basics hotel. The room was quite small. No cleaning the room, changing towels or linens during 4 day stay. Everything was working properly. Tea or coffee by the reception area. The price is at most 1/2 of the Marriott Marquis across the street.

It was very noisy at night outside, and very difficult to get some sleep. Room was very small. Windows difficult to open or close. Very old building. As it was hot, windows that didn't work were a big problem. You couldn't sleep with people shouting outside at night, stores getting deliveries in the middle of the night, garbage being picked up. Terrible noise! Worst hotel in our one week stay because of the noise downtown.

We are sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience here at the hotel with us regarding the noise and the heat from the room.For the window, the windows are doubled window and there are also childproof safety latches on both ends of the end as well that would need to be unlocked before opening the windows. If you were having trouble with the window and have reported it to the front desk, someone would be able to help you open and close the windows as well since our front desk is 24 hours and there is always someone able to assist you with your concerns. Regarding the noise, since the rooms here at the hotel are doubled window, if both windows are closed it would be able to block out most of the noise from outside, but since we are located in the center of downtown it wouldn't be able to block out all of it completely. For the heat in the room, there is a radiator in the rooms, and it you were having trouble turning it off, our staff would have been more than happy to help if it had been reported or we could have moved you to another room if it was reported. Again, we do apologize for your unpleasant and would have wished you spoke with the staff regarding your concerns during your stay so that we would have been able to help you with your problems or moved you to another room.

Good Stay.
The shower floor was dirty and there were hairs on the floor. The lamp above the bed is stained and didn’t work. The stay was good and the staff was very nice. Thank you. Will stay again.

I chose the Mosser because I am no longer traveling on an expense account. :) Bottom line: Really solid value for money. Only wanted a clean bed and a hot shower. Got both at a fraction of what it would have been at the Westin or Marriott on Union Square. I am a Lifetime Platinum at Marriott but didn't feel like paying over $400 per night. Being on my own dime and in town to meet friends at a convention that took up almost every room in town the Mosser was a really good choice. Glad it worked out. Staff was helpful and it was a cozy but comfy room.

I've stayed at the Mosser several times and likely will do so in future when I'm in SF. It is an historic building and while it has been modernized with new amenities it is still a funky stay! Staff is always very friendly and personally I love listening to the sounds of the city.

I was staying for a conference at another nearby hotel. I would stay again for the same purpose in the future. The property is located downtown in close proximity to lots of offices and is right next to San Francisco Centre for shopping. The hotel provides basic amenities: a room and a bathroom and that's it. The hot water was sometimes iffy and took a good long time to warm up, but that didn't bother me too much. The neighborhood is very loud and popular with the homeless, so if you're looking for something quiet and touristy, this might not be your stop. It's a ways from the more interesting tourist spots anyway. The doors are kept locked after dark and the desk was always manned, so I'd say it's safe enough. If you need an inexpensive, clean room with a bed and shower downtown and aren't looking for frills, this place is great. As I said before, I would stay again.

Clean, comfortable and affordable! Lousy toilet.
Clean, affordable, downtown and right next to Trader Joe's! Realize that some rooms don't have a private bathroom. Mine did, but the old toilet drained very, very slowly, and got plugged up for no good reason. They might as well just give you the plunger if they're not going to upgrade the toilets.

The hotel is in a good location. Although the number of homeless has increased significantly, the hotel requires the use of a room key card to gain entry to the lobby. The room itself is small and there is no air conditioning. Only a ceiling fan. Shower toiletries are not individually packaged, and it was quite hard to get each item to dispense out of the dispenser. Walls are thin so if you have neighbors who are loud, you will hear them.
