Lovely pub/hotel in very remote location. Didn’t realise you had to book parking onsite and ended up parking on car park up the road with no issues. Room was lovely and slept very well. Staff very welcoming on arrival and food on the evening was fantastic. Only let down was the service in the morning at breakfast. No dairy alternatives available on buffet, you had to ask for them. Service was very poor, waited 15 minutes (there was only 3 of us in the breakfast room) before being asked if I wanted to order. Gossiping with work colleagues seemed more of a priority. When I finally got breakfast, it was the best porridge I had ever tasted!!!

Wonderful old in with lots of character and charm. Staff were all welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. Excellent stay in a historic town!

Our room was very clean.The bed was comfortable.Every thing was in excellent condition.The staff were friendly and helpfull.The breakfast was excellent however it is strange to be charged extra for hot chocolate. However the noise from the extractor fan woke us around 6am. 😞

Fantastisk service.
Meget Hyggeligt Hotel tæt på national parken Dartmoor. Vi havde ikke tid til at nyde vores ophold da vi havde problemer med vores lejebil. Men personalet hjalp os igennem med sublim service, fra at have sandwich klar da vi nåede hotellet ved midnatstid, samt skaffe os en ny lejebil inkl. transport til afhenting. Fantastisk service og venlighed. Det vi nåede at opleve var et hyggeligt værelse i direkte forbindelse med en gårdhave og dejlig morgenmad. Vi er nød til at komme tilbage for rigtig at opleve hotellet og området.

Pleasant over but noisy at times
Plus Friendly staff overall Pleasant conservatory Excellent bath Very tasty breakfast Excellent sea food platter Reasonably priced bar drinks Negative Poor flow on shower Noisy at night as next to two other pubs - late night revellers and cars/motor bikes and early morning deliveries and bin men. Room 13 had searchlight from property directly opposite shining into room. Not well ventilated without having windows/curtains open exacerbating problems above. Scott would make an excellent nightclub bouncer but his welcoming skills need working on for a restaurant!!! Recommendation Get a room at the back of the hotel away from street noise etc

Thank you for rating us 6/10. Sadly because of your specific request to have a bath rather than a shower you missed out on a complimentary upgrade from the standard room you booked.

The staff, food and service were wonderful. However the room was basic and could benefit from a makeover. It was not an executive room but nevertheless it was ‘tired’. Black mould on the bathroom tiles for example and an old fashioned padded headboard. Otherwise, the weekend was very enjoyable in a delightful location.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful small town. Staff was very friendly. Comfortable rooms. Gorgeous view from our window. Lots of antique charm. l loved the narrow roads into Chagford. Highly recommend if you are looking for a cozy spot in a charming old town.

Very nice friendly and helpful The room fan didn’t work and the tv remote wasn’t working I didn’t use either until my last night so didn’t inform the hotel of the issue

This is the third or fourth time we have stayed here but doubt we will stay again. We were meeting our niece and her husband who live locally and booked a table for four at 8 pm and had no complaints with quality of food or the service. As it is advertised as a licensed hotel we were looking forward to a couple of drinks after the meal but were told the hotel only had a drink licence till 10 pm. We ordered an extra bottle of wine between us but felt pressured to drink up by 10-30 ‘so that the staff could get home and come back in the morning to prepare our breakfasts’. We dutifully retired to our room and our family went home as instructed

Thanks for rating us and sorry that despite previous good visits you wouldn't stay again. Most hospitality venues have had to adjust what they do over the past two years as a result of the the pandemic and recruitment crisis. Almost every hospitality venue is short staffed and at The Three Crowns we have taken the decision to close at 10.00pm but hotel guests are welcome to stay in the bar whilst our very hard working team clear down the operation and they are also welcome to take any additional drinks to their room. We are sorry that this had such a negative impact on your stay but we do have to balance the needs of our guests with the welfare of our team. With regards The Three Crowns team

Great place to stay
What a lovely place! Excellent modern facilities while retaining little bits of its original style. Good young staff very keen to help. Superb breakfast! A great base for seeing the local area and Dartmoor.

The town,place & staff all really nice and welcoming.It is obviously an old property so you have to accept it's quirks.Our room was very quiet comfortable all you need,but very small(cosy).The food tasted really nice but long delay in getting to the table then let down by being luke warm even after a second attempt? by the time we had eaten our main we were on our own no offer of dessert? But nice time had and would definitely book again(I'm sure just a one off hiccup) Great staff,great place,really nice tasty food 9/10

This is a great place to whole up when on Dartmoor. The staff, food and accommodation are very warm and inviting, perfect after a day out in the cold!!

Great staff
The staff are very good and make you feel welcome and attentive. Very professional. We had room 1 which was below the heating or kitchen vents which did wake us up a few times in the night. However the bed was really comfortable and this is more personal choice than a slant on the establishment. If i had one piece of constructive criticism it would be to upgrade the showers. I travel with work a lot and two things important are shower and bed. The bed as said earlier was very good, the shower needs an upgrade. Would i stay again: Definitely would i recommend: Definitely
