The view from this property is amazing. Debbie and Doug are amazing hosts and want this to feel like home for you. One of the best experiences with a room I have had. The pictures do not do this place justice. It is so much better than it shows. I WILL BE BACK!!!!

The room was huge and very clean. The owners were very friendly and available at anytime. The location was perfect and were were able to use the private beach right outside our door. Can't wait to book again.

Loved the views, the privacy and the beach at your front door. But to top it off Debbie & her Husband went out of their way to make sure I was good my whole stay. Definitely recommend & will definitely be back!

Please don't even think of travelling to St. Marten unless you're going to stay at the Toad. When I arrived, four out of the eight suites were occupied by "regulars" who had been coming there for years. I found out why. A stunning view right on the water, steps to the warm sea. A parade of yachts going by. Always something to see. I enjoyed watching planes taking off and the sound was not bothersome. And then there's Debbie and Dan. You couldn't ask for nicer people. The nightly happy hour was a wonderful opportunity to chat with fellow travelers I didn't even rent a car for my six day visit. I walked to stores and restaurants You'll be happy to stay there!

We Shall Return
As being First Time Visitors to St Maarten, Cherry meet us out late when we got there due to some airline Delays and gave us the lay of the land. The waves pounded outside at the beach all night and it was super relaxing. The beach is 10 feet from the edge of the yard and it is absolutely beautiful. It was located near bars and breakfast places within walking distance on the beach or driving down the road.

quiet guest house on beautiful beach
Walk out of your room , onto white sand beach and into turquoise waters. Easy access to airport , restaurants, and water activities. Rooms are spacious with well-equipped kitchen. Fresh flowers and daily newspaper. Owners are great hosts, very helpful. They make you feel at home.

We could not asked for anything more. We had such a great time, lots of walkable things to do and the staff could not have been nicer. We would so come back and tell all our friends.

Das Guesthouse ist ideal für ältere Leute, die sich entspannen wollen. Man fühlt sich willkommen und wie zu Hause. Die Lage direkt am Meer ist wunderbar. Alles ist sauber und traditionell eingerichtet. Supermarkt und Restaurants sind ganz in der Nähe. Gleich nebenan ist der Flugplatz, ideal für Fliegerfans, manchmal sehr laut. Es hat keinen Pool, kein TV, aber sehr gute Internetverbindung. Wir werden wieder kommen.

might expect in a small hotel and then some.
Everything one might expect in a smaller beachfront hotel and then some. Owner/managers were very hospitable - they even threw a delicious St Patrick's Day dinner party and invited all the guests. Nightly happy hour gatherings. Located directly on a beautiful stretch of Simpson Bay Beach. Short walk to restaurants, stores and bus transportation. Very accessible to airport so there is some airport noise but not late at night..

Excellent choice!
We prefer resorts that are not a franchise and are not all inclusive. We like to experience our vacation without the 'mega resort' environment. Based on reviews, we chose to stay at this resort and we loved it so much we already reserved our room for next year. The staff are excellent and could. It have been more friendly. The only reason we honored a four star for cleanliness is because as with mega resorts this place does not have tile/quartz floors, 24/7 cleaning staff and the most up to date accommodations, which was absolutely fine with us. However some individuals may expect different. We were pleasantly surprised that four of the couples who were at our resort have been returning for 10+ years. Just that alone confirms how well respected this resort is.

Perfect hide-a-away!
Our room faced the rolling surf, the sound was sooooo relaxing. I've never been a person to lay in a hammock but I actually fell asleep in theirs, sheltered in the guesthouse's community area. They have everything you need to enjoy your stay including an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand and sea, a full stocked kitchen, beach towels and lovely hosts that can provide you with information at a moment's notice.

Wonderful location right on Simpson Bay. Beach right at your doorstep. Staff was warm and welcoming. Great having a full kitchen in the room so we can eat in some nights. Loved our stay! Would highly recommend.

The Toad is great!
A great budget hotel situated right at the beach in Simpson bay. Clean rooms, good cooking facilities, close to good restaurants and a very nice relax and bbq area outside where me and my friends did some hangouts with the other guests.

Nice apartment style on the beach.
Excellent choice for the "get out"traveler. If I are resort traveler this is not for u. Full kitchen and 2 separate rooms. Excellent AC.

A B&B Feeling on the Beach
The Simpson Bay location is terrific. An excellent beach, close to town and the social activity which accompanies a busy resort area in the Caribbean. Next to the world famous airport with a decent amount of daily activity, you forget the planes and enjoy the beauty of the Bay and it's ever present breezes. A welcoming hostess/proprietor, Betty Vaughan and her husband Phil, join the guests at cocktail hour and discuss and share the life experiences which make us who we are. Look at the website to view the outdoor barbecue pavilion where these meetings take place. It must work because all the guests we met during our 10 days had been here multiple times over the years. St. Maarten is easy to navigate from this location with a rental car and the new bridge to Marigot.

Your own little piece of heaven!
This lovely place is like having your own island paradise. There is no TV and no pool. But this is the real thing. Lovely location, quite and peaceful. It was off season so I am sure thing pick up more in season. The place only has 7 rooms so it reminds you of a B & B, but with out the breakfast, but all units have kitchens. You really find some really great people that work here, and we met some great people from all over the world. I would go back tomorrow if I could.

Beach and ocean views
Tremendous beach and ocean views on Simpson Bay. Great swimming beach that is uncrowded. The location is close to everything that is happening in Simpson Bay, and only15 minutes to Marigot on the French side of the island. The staff is very courteous and eager to assist with anything you may need. We expected some noise from the proximity to the airport, but that was not an issue.

We loved this guest house!!
My husband and I visited for a long weekend over the 4th of July. We stayed in room 8 and we loved our room, especially the full kitchen and balcony. The room has a wonderful cross breeze, which allowed us to keep the windows open the whole time. Cherry, the manager, was wonderful. She helped us with information about the island and was a very gracious host. The grounds are immaculate and the beach is beautiful. They provide lounge chairs, a hammock, a grill and a sitting area by the beach so there is plenty of space to relax. We are already planning a return trip to the this wonderful place!

Amazing place right on Simpson beach.
I'm so amazed by this hotel. We rented a car and checked out a lot of places and by far this location is the best! The staff are amazing . You have a place to cook outside and layout and relax . I spent every night relaxing in my own private location! Thank you Cherry and staff!!

Best place to stay in St Marten
Having just gotten back from this amazing hotel, i cant rate it high enough! More than the 3 stars it is rated on some sites. I stayed in room 6 by myself and the room was cleaned each day and i found no fault at all. What also make this hotel special is its location, 10 munites to Philipsburg and not much more to marigot, also with in an easy walking distance is local shops from a bakery to cafes to little food markets. This winner for this hotel has to be the staff who work here as nothing is to much trouble! Not to mention the pristine white beach that this hotel backs on too!

Great guesthouse close to the beach
The owners and staff were very helpful and considerate of our needs while we stayed there. Everything is so close to the guest house, just a walk away for all your needs. A short drive to everything you want to do. The happy hour every evening under the veranda with the owners gave you a chance to meet the other guests and share stories. The room was clean and comfortable with everything provided to make your stay enjoyable.

Relaxing Vacation!
This is a relaxing and quiet beachfront property away from families and children. Each room is unique with its own home comforts. Waking up and walking out of your room onto the beach was the best part of the vacation. The staff was hospitable and you will not miss your television as there is no TV or radio in the rooms. This is truly a get-away-vacation with simple luxury.

The HornyToad was the highlight of our stay in St Martin. Betty and her staff keep this place spotless, and it's very refreshing to stay here away from the resorts. This hotel really is home away from home!

Home on the beach
We had a wonderful stay. The room was spotlessly clean, cozy and warm. The owners and staff were like family. The beach was literally out our front door with a view of ships and boats. Would recommend to everyone. Would return again and again.

St. Maarten's best guesthouse
This guesthouse is the perfect place to stay if your after a nice quiet vacation. Phil and Betty are so friendly and welcoming. I can't praise this place or it's hosts highly enough. Will definitely be returning here in the future.
