For the price you can get much nicer rooms in the area. The room was old and the cupboard that has the spare pillows was full of dead ants. Food from the hotel was good and the lady at reception was nice. Only stayed here as the the ad said it had a gym well it didn’t. It had a couple of old broken down machines. Will give it a miss next time.

The Econo lodge is convenient and comfortable enough place to stay for a work trip. The Mac hotel which is pet of the venue has great pub meals I have stayed here for many years

There was no hot water and the shower was leaking, the basin tap was loose. I tried to call in the morning about no hot water for a shower but nobody answered the phone. I have called since my return home to discuss the issues and was promised a callback. No callback so far. I won’t be staying there again and I have told my colleagues not to book here either.

Please accept our apologies for the hot water. We had our maintenance crew onto it as soon as we were informed and they have corrected the problem. This is the first I have heard of the problem with the sink so I will get the maintenance guys onto that on Monday. I apologise for no one getting back to you. We have been sharing the shifts around to all of our staff to ensure that all staff are getting some shifts in these trying times and the staff member did not pass on the message. I will show her your review as part of her training in customer relations.

it was fine to sleep and very quiet. Didn't go to breakfast as I was still sleeping comfortably. Staff very friendly nice and clean

It is old and you can hear the shower next door and it's noisy in the mornings. However good old fashioned hospitality, clean and affordable.

Great location, ok hotel
Overall a good hotel, great location and breakfast options. Terrible beds that need replacing and needs some pest control as had to kill a couple of spiders upon arrival.

Thank you for staying at The Portland Econolodge. I have asked our Housekeeping Staff to do an audit of our beds so that we can address your comments on the beds. I will mention your spider wrangling to our Flick man when he comes in for his monthly inspections so he can pay extra attention to spider prevention. Deb

Value for money, clean close to everything.
Very happy with cleanliness, service and the continental breakfast was a delightful bonus. It is a basic room with all that is required for a comfortable night.

Peaceful comfortable stay
Room was very clean, hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Only stayed one night but felt very comfortable and looked after.

Planned to get away for a few days, but our stay was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances . The room was good for what we wanted, but was a little disappointed that there was no microwave in the room.

Lovely historical hotel full of charm.
I was very pleased with the service of staff and delighted with my free room upgrade. I will definitely book the same room on my next stay. Comfortable, clean and spacious is how I would describe the room. Beautiful view of the ocean foreshore and very happy with the added bonus of being able to open the windows for a fresh ocean breeze to flow through the room. The service was A1 and every request was granted, plus the service desk manager offered me a late check out.

Exactly as expected
The hotel represents itself well online. It's a combination of two hotels, and the Econo Lodge is not quite as nice. You get what you pay for, so it's not the classiest of places, but it was good in a pinch. Would recommend it if you're running out of other options.
