Only good for a place to sleep if you are desperate - had to stuff the pillows with clothes (the pillow on their own is thin and extremely clumpy... very slept on!), the bed has caused me to visit my chiro (we were there for 3 nights), would have had a better shower if i was able to run myself under the sink tap (but the sink is the size of my hand and the under pipe is broken... not that it matters as the room floods when you turn the shower on anyway!). If you're not used to sleeping with lights flooding through moldy curtains, then bring an eye mask (and earplugs, doors seem to slam at all hours of the night)! Also, don't stress if you forget your underwear, there is some hanging in the cupboard from previous tenants... yuck! This is a harsh review, yet i was somewhat catfished by the photos and did not get what i was expecting at all... i did look for other hotels (happily willing to lose the money we had already spent on this accommodation) but there was no vacancy anywhere. The major saving grace is that it is in a great location, about a 10 min walk downhill to Salamanca Place.

Blue Hills Motel is well situated to explore Battery Point, Salamanca Place and central Hobart. The owners have obviously begun a renovation, our room at least had been modernised although the bathroom was tiny and fittings were already broken, but there is a long way to go with the common areas. It is very affordable for its location, so if you can handle all that, it’s recommended.

Old and dirty hotel but was only one on New Year’s Eve that didn’t cost something ridiculous. Carpet was direct, tiles missing from the bathroom and just overall not the cleanest. Front reception staff was helpful.

Extremely dusty. Put clothes in cupboard and came out full of dust. Duvet stained. Carpets threadbare. Good location close to Salamanca. Wouldnt stay again.

The place is completely worn down. Absolutely disgusting. Rooms are in such poor condition with holes in doors and walls. I don’t think anyone’s cleaned the place in a decade.

Property was in good location. Bathroom had mold in the shower. Carpet on all stairs was ripped and torn - quite dangerous.

Room was dirty and run down, the bathroom door was mouldy and disintegrating and part of which was being held up with a cable tie. We were given no instructions as to how to get to our room, and the ‘free parking’ can only accomodate about 6 cars for accomodation that houses about 30 rooms. The foyer and hallways were also sporting a high degree of wear and tear - with carpet ripped up and worn out everywhere. The property was also quite noisy, with limited if any sound proofing you can hear all the street noise below and the rooms around you even with closed doors. Hard to believe the building is compliant at all. Wish we could appeal for a refund but other reviews would suggest this is out of the question. Do not stay here.

Hi guys, thanks for the stay the night before Point to Pinicle. The room was simply but had a clean and comfy bed which was all I wanted. Staff were very nice and friendly. The price was very fair which I appreciated. I would stay again.

Don’t stay here. We checked in for a three night stay and left about two hours later. This place is absolutely filthy. It gets worse everytime you look somewhere else in the room. There was black mould all over the windows, mould throughout the bathroom, nothing had been cleaned properly, everything was broken in one way or another and everything was dusty. I have never left a hotel/motel but this place was the absolute worse. The kind of place you don’t want to take your shoes off because of how dirty it is. We decided it wasn’t safe to stay here and booked somewhere else. Something else to note, I specifically picked this place as we had a hire car and this motel says “parking onsite”. There’s about 5 spots for about 25-30 rooms to share. Notable mention to the hotel owners Porsche parked in the driveway though. Glad everyone’s hard earned money is going to maintaining this place 🙄🙄

It was pretty dirty under the vertical blinds and under the basin in the bathroom. There’s no power point in the bathroom so I had to dry my hair in the room but there’s no mirror in the room. Maybe a mirror inside the closet door would be a nice addition. We were in room 16.

Don’t stay here. The ceiling leaks, the towel rack and heater was broken the whole room was really dusty, the shower was tiny and there’s a severe lack of parking.

It is cheap to stay, don’t expect much, half the lights didn’t work, hole in ceiling patched with a plastic sheet and door rattles in the wind. You get what you pay for.

Location was great, room was very clean and equipped, although I was there for 3 days, and there was no housekeeping i.e my bin didn't get emptied for the 3 days I was there, my TAP and shower leaked ALL night, made grumbly noises all night on my last two nights and no offer of another room when I mentioned it! Very disappointing.

I'm a frequent traveller. Both 5 star to under the stars. I understand you get what you pay for, but this place is the worst I've ever stayed at. Most of the lights didn't work. T.V wouldn't work and staff weren't interested in helping. A short barely warm shower in the morning. I've stayed in 3rd world countries that leave this place in dead last for accommodation on EVERY level

The room was good but does show signs of age (peeling paint). Outside the room the property could do with some work (the carpeting on the stairs are beyond well-worn). Overall a good place to stay if you are just looking for a place to stay while spending most of your time out)

I have never ever left a review in my life but my stay here over the last two nights was just absolutely horrible. The first room we were in had a smashed window, (which staff were aware of probably just hoping we wouldn’t notice), so upon request we moved rooms which was almost even worse. Shredded blankets, the sink was coming off the wall. Holes in the walls. I went from Monday through to Thursday without having a shower because it felt like I would’ve been dirtier having done so. Spoke with the owner and discussed our complaints and he told us to find somewhere else that’s cheaper because we won’t be able to. I appreciate the cheap rates as we were holidaying on a budget but we are also humans and people cannot stay in conditions like this. It’s unsafe and dangerous. The one positive is that the bed itself was very clean, however slept fully clothed because the room was freezing and felt gross touching anything. Building has so much potential but will not be staying here again!

The bathroom was unclean with no shower curtain, heater not working, paint peeling off the walls and window not closing properly. The stairs down to parking were iron ones which were very wobbly. If we hadn't been so tired when we checked in we would not have stayed. The fact we had to climb up two floors with our luggage was appalling at our age (80).

The staff are helpful and friendly, the property is inexpensive and older style. The room had been refurbish but was looking a little tired. The bedding and towels were clean but overall the room needed a big dust and deep bathroom clean.

My daughter and I stay in motels every week due to sport, I don’t normally comment, but this time I felt like I had too, Dust covering every inch of the walls, black mould on the windows, filthy shower and toilet, under the bed hadn’t been clean in a very long time, heater had one broken leg and was quite dangerous, medium size windows on second floor had no safety screens, black hairs in the bed and dirty towels thrown in to the bottom of the cupboard, have pics, but I don’t know if I can upload them

The property needs a total makeover, the ceiling in the bathroom was falling, the heater couldn't be used and was sparking. When asked for another one it was in the same condition. There were exposed wires behind power points. I'm sure it would be legislation to have all electrical items tagged and tested whi h none were Parking was minimal also. I we were staying more than one night we would have left.

All we were looking for is a bed and a shower between trips around the city, if you’re looking for a minimalist stay with no drama then this ticks every box. If you’re expecting anything more you might be disappointed.

Stone Li was most helpful, but Kai couldn't understand spoken English beyond basic sentences, making explaining or asking anything in detail impossible. Window vertical blinds very dirty and one set wouldn't open. The floor space at the base of the blinds and the bedside table were thick with dust. Shower cubicle area lacked a reachable towel rail. Other than that, incredibly quiet and peaceful considering the hotel is located on a very busy main road.
