An oasis amidst the chaos. The city of Port-au-Prince is a bit chaotic, and can be overwhelming at times. So it's not to escape to Le Plaza hotel which is right in the heart of the city, but somehow as soon as you step through the doors the vibe completely changes as you leave the intense chaos behind and enter a chill and relaxing oasis. All the street noise disappears and you are surrounded by lush greenery and silence.
The only complaint I can think of is that if you've never been there before, and are arriving on your own (i.e. no airport pickup) it's not entirely clear where the entrance is. Neither the walk-in entrance nor the car parking lot. The signage could be much more clear. At first I almost panicked and thought the place had been shut down entirely. There is a giant colorful mural that says "Le Plaza" on one of the walls surrounding the hotel, but the entry doorway is not clearly labeled.
The breakfast was ok, but could get a bit boring after a couple of days. But you're in Haiti so the supplies/resources to make an amazing breakfast aren't readily available, so appreciate what you can get.
