The Church Accommodation was incredible! The room itself was very cozy and has everything one needs, and a cute strip of restaurants and shops are in a 3-min distance. The staff were also amazing-- they accommodated our needs for a late night check-in and went out of their way to offer us to stay at our room even after our check out time when the roads were closed unexpectedly due to flooding. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet sanctuary in the Hahei area!

Five stars with extra sparkles
The photographs on the website do not do justice to this beautiful property - it is a masterclass in green style and comfort. It is sparkling clean. Great water pressure and HOT water for showers. Bedding is breathable cotton, fresh and luxurious. We appreciated the abundant native plantings which provide private outdoor spaces, and the lovely vintage windows. Our cottage had a well-stocked kitchen with everything we needed, in addition to comfortable living area, private back verandah for summer reading, and reliable wifi. Management are friendly and helpful. Everything smells so good, seriously! Dining at the Church restaurant (lunch and dinner) was marvelous and upscale, and the entire property is 5 minutes’ walk to cafes and shops (great breakfasts) and perhaps 8 minutes’ walk to the beach. If I could pack up my life and come and live here forever, I’d do it. Considering this is not possible, I’ll certainly be returning as often as I can.

This is one of the prettiest rentals I’ve ever stayed at. The room was very cozy, the owner Andraz (sp) was extremely helpful, he assisted us getting on the kayak trip we thought was sold out as well very helpful in helping us with a tire repair. Everything about this place is tranquil and relaxing. Sure wish I’d booked more than one night!

My best friend and I rented out one of the cabins for our joint birthday road trip and fell head over heels with this accommodation. It was the most cozy cabin which had all the utilities we needed and very friendly staff, with super easy check-in. Would highly recommend it, and plan on returning in the new year!!!

The place is quiet and clean, but does not have a restaurant for breakfast. It is very close to the hot water beach and the cathedral cove is within walking distant.

We are here the first of December and the gardens are so lush and gorgeous! The room is delightful, clean and comfortable. With temperatures this time of year no AC or heat is needed so we can have the windows open bringing birdsong and the scent of jasmine into the room.

We love the wooden cottages placed each on their own within trees and private gardens. Restful, tranquil. To look out of the window and see trees and gardens and not a wall or a building. It was so restorative.

Simple accommodation that was clean and neat, with an excellent breakfast available to eat on a sheltered veranda. Spades and towels available for a visit to Hot Water Beach.

Lovely comfortable bed, nice surroundings. REALLY annoyed that property advertises that there is a cafe/ restaurant on site ( the main reason we chose this place) but didn’t bother to state that it’s closed over winter & into September & the other options were basically takeaway fish and chips or fish and chips at the Pour pub. Felt it was very deceitful advertising.

Hi Jan Thanks for your review and nice comment about our accommodation. We don't normally respond to reviews, but thought we may need to point out a couple of things for the benefit of other guests. The Church Bistro is run independently of The Church Accommodation and as such we do not dictate their opening hours. Hahei is a very small town and very quiet in winter. I'm sure you can appreciate the rationale for The Church Bistro choosing to not be open all year round. A cursory glance at either our website, or The Church Bistro's website, would have shown that the The Church Bistro does, (and always has) closed for the winter and that it is best to contact them directly to see when they expect to reopen. We base our advertising and marketing on our cottages, gardens, ambiance, staff and location. The fact that there is a restaurant in the same location is an added bonus, not a feature we would feel the need to be 'deceitful' about. Especially since all eating establishments in Hahei are within walking distance of The Church Accommodation, and one another. Again, thanks for your nice comment about our accommodation.

The cottage was great, staff helpful and friendly. The only negative i have would be the exposed black wires dangling down from underneath the wall mounted tv and dropping to floor level could be re routed, or covered/tidied up. They stand out against the otherwise nice clean looking white wall.
