Hotel unmanned when site says 24hr reception. No one around to check in with. Had to go next door to the pub. They didn’t have a key for us. We had booked the luxury room. None were available. Had to take a lesser room, and when checked in and unpacked, looked at the balcony only to find it had not been cleaned. Empty beer and wine bottles all over the table and ashtrays full with last tenants rubbish.
Called through for staff to clean, but no one was available at 3pm on a Friday to clean it.
Ate at the pub next door for dinner and that was a disappointment too, ordered crispy pork belly on mash with bokchoy. Received rubbery pork slab with chips, salad and mushroom gravy? At this point did not complain again as I had very low expectations of what assistance I would receive if any.
The next day we were offered vouchers for our Trouble with the hotel, no offer to move up to our original room with spa. And was told excuses that Expedia cancelled our booking. Seeing we booked through hotels.com and my booking was still active this was a mistake on the locations behalf. In the end they agreed to refund one of the two nights.
Also note power plug beside the bed is almost flush with the bedside, makes plugging any adapters with cords to the bottom impossible to plug in. Was unable to plug in my CPAPS machine the first night. had to get an extension lead from motel for the second night
