Family-friendly
We booked r cabins for our family break. One was in the lowest price category so we did an upgrade once we arrived because it was much more basic than the others, go for a deluxe. Good facilities and the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is pretty quiet, well it was 10 days before Christmas bit I'm sure it'll be busy over the Christmas-New Year period. There's a small general store and a pub in Wye River. About 15 minutes from Lorne means you can go there for dinner or for a walk at Erskine Falls.

The rates do vary for different times throughout the year, ie school holidays, christmas, winter etc. Absolutely something to consider for the future though. No shower curtain, no t towel or dish cloth. Reverse air conditioner NOISY ,needs repair and proper clean. I cleaned filter ,outer cover still dirty.

Great family stay
Stayed in the newer family cabin which was roomier and had everything we needed. The heater worked well which was great as it was freezing, a fireplace would make this cabin perfect; although I probably wouldn’t leave! Make sure you book the right cabin when booking as there is a smaller family cabin which they class in the same range. Lots of wildlife to see, the resident koala, kangaroos, cockatoos, king parrots (my fave) plus the resident goats and dogs. Must take the bikes or scooters, as it’s tailored more for the younger kids not the tweens. Coffee at the general store is great as is the freshly baked sour dough bread and I would pass on the overpriced Beach Hotel hotel, food nothing special and not much of it, we left hungry!

Our cabin was one of the newer ones, so was clean and fresh. The grounds are nice and open around the play grounds for the kids to run around. We saw a koala walking around on two different occasions and many koalas in the trees at different times. They have three goats tied up, our son loved to feed and pat them every time we entered/exited the park. The walk to the beach was easy, though the wind was deceiving in the sheltered park compared to when we got to the beach. I think we would give camping a try as the amenities (toilets/showers) were brand new looking and the camp kitchen/bbqs looked well resourced as well. The general store is very over priced as is the cafe and pub, but they can be as they’re the only things here. We brought all our food to cook except two meals to try the cafe/pub, next time we would just cook every meal ourselves. All in all, I would highly recommend staying in a new cabin if they’re available and you are willing to pay the little extra. Or if you’re happy to go a bit old school then the deluxe family cabin has what you need just a bit mustier (our friends were in one). To add the kitchen supplies is a bit limited, so don’t plan on doing huge cook ups unless you’re with other people and can share your kitchen supplies. **Definitely bring your own water, you can not drink the tap water and the water in the general store for purchase is over priced**

Didn’t know we needed bedding for the kids - when booking a family room it should be included in the price and automatically included in a self contained cabin. Shouldn’t have to pay extra.

Beautiful location, very comfortable.
The location is very spectacular with wildlife and walking trails nearby. The cabin we stayed in was well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed the stay very much.

Could Have Been Better
Was not happy with facility not sending any alert of road closure that affected our getting to the accommodation. Thus reach very late and with lots of stress. Wifi was not available and cable TV did not work properly but staff had gone off duty so can't get help. The higher rating attributed to the kangaroos, parrots that entertained us the subsequent early morning before we left.

Fabulous Wye River
We travelled to Wye River Big 4 for a short 2 night weekend away as a family. Was wonderful as we also had friends staying as well. Lots for the kids to do, a short walk to both the Cafe and the pub and a number of walking tracks to explore! Would highly recommend.

The tap water in undrinkable however letting people know before they arrive would be helpful especially with a young child and late arrival. Staff were very friendly and the setting was perfect. All the wildlife is amazing.

Koalas, parrots and cockatoo sightings!
This was a full facility RV Park with cute modern cabins that you could book. That’s what we did. Not a lot of options in the GOR National Park for accommodations and this worked great.The cabins were small but modern and updated. Tiny bath separated our room from the kids. They loved the bunk beds. The staff forgot to make up the bunk beds but rode over within 15min on a bike with supplies. Hightlight was a sighting of a koala hanging out in a tree next to our cabin!!! Doesn’t get better than that.

Perfect for a relaxing family break
Wow! This might not have been the first thing we thought when we drove over the hill in Wye River, it was more like 'this place is small, what will we do here for 2nights'. How wrong we were. It is gorgeous! We stayed in a 2bed cabin and it was perfect for a family with 2 kids. We could see kangaroos and koalas from our deck & fed the birds every morning. The playground, jumping pillow and river were a huge hit with the kids. The cafe and grocery shop was perfect for early morning snacks and coffee before the beach. It was a beautiful spot to stop along the Great Ocean Rd and explore. I would definitely recommend this place for a few nights, so tranquil and relaxing.

Night away for fathers day
We arrived late afternoon for the night, we had a cozy night in with our 3 boys. Played on the jumping pillow and playground before heading to the pub at the top of the road. Following day we all road the pedal go karts around and then played again on the playground before departing to lorne for breakfast and heading into Geelong to go to the mill markets. Great night away to celebrate Father's Day! Thank you x

Surf Coast break
Big 4 Wye River is ideal for a short mid winter beach break. Friendly staff, great location and good facilities.

Very disappointed
After we booked and paid for an insure cabin we were told there had been a king tide and the water would be salty. When I asked about fresh water I was informed it was available for $8.50! There was Mosquitos in the cabin when we opened the door and fly screen had holes so door had to stay closed. The unit had received no TLC for a long time.

Great facilities, close the beach.
Enjoyed it immensely, would stay longer next time and just get a larger cabin. The children's equipment was fantastic with a great variety of activities onsite for them to do. They loved it.. Liked the close proximity to the beach, the park was very well maintained and kept very tidy and clean. The common area to cook, relax was really good and made cooking & eating very easy. We had our own shower/toilet although we did look into the new shower block, laundry and toilets and they are spacious, modern and cleaned daily. Plenty of room for onsite vans and the general store was great. The Pub was only a short walk and catered for everyone and families, great meals and awesome views across the beach and ocean. Only a short drive to into Apollo Bay for a day trip was easy access.

Winter Escape fun for the kids
It was great for a weekend away where we didn't have to travel too far. The accommodation was even better than we expected and even being the middle of winter we had a great time outdoors. Feeding the birds, playing at the beach and in the river, riding bikes, playing in the park to having a nice hot coffee at the local shop.
