Great value!
It’s not The Ritz but it was warm, the bed was comfortable, the room was pretty big and it was clean / brilliant value for what I paid!

The room we had was not the one in the picture. The fan and the wall light did not work in the bathroom. The windows were stuck shut with paint. We had to pay upfront for the room rather than on departure, The room its self was a bit grubby and not finished well. I would say overall it was not good value for money as Ive stayed in a lot better for a lot less.

Hi Grant, Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry you had this experience with us on your visit. First of all I would like to apologise for the no toilet roll in the room. Our house keeping have been informed of this as they follow a check list for each room and this should have been included. All our rooms lock with the key provided and if not we would have been more than happy to assist you. Regarding the pigeon in the rooms, our windows for health and safety purposes have restricted open access which open slightly which I believe wont fit a bird through the gap and our housekeeping never made us aware of this. Our staff would have been more than happy to assist in removing the pigeon out of your room. With our Hotel being fully booked and your booking request for a 5 bed room we can only apologise for your room being on the 2nd floor. If assistance was needed then our hotel staff would have been more than happy to assist you in this. Our hotel has just recently changed management and we value your feedback as we are looking at enhancing our guest experience during their stay. Awful experience. I booked a hotel and I got first a room Outside in an another building. It was so loud that I complained - the guy who works there tried his best. But the empty rooms weren’t cleaned. After a while he found finally a room. Still not good but better - the shower handle was broken so I skipped the shower. Disappointed was that I booked it for £30 (not worth it) and 2 hrs later was it just £16 (this would be the better price). Everywhere in the floor where dirty beddings in a sack - not really pritty I would say. Sorry

Average but Noisy
Hotel was clean, but a bit tied. Rooms were basic, but the price reflected this. Biggest problem was the noise. Location seemed to be a local retreat for happy (loud) people returning from a good night out in Newcastle. After a 150 mile drive sleep is good, preferably uninterrupted. Parking was difficult too. Probably won't stay there again.

Great location and value
The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Good location, near town. It's not the Ritz, but clean, warm and good value for money as a base to explore or attend an event from.

Functional for one night
Basic functional hotel which may have had a make over recently. New carpet on stairs and good laminate flooring in bedroom. All looked freshly painted. Good new white towels and clean comfortable beds. All that can’t disguise its an old building and a bit ramshackle if you go in back door. Only about 3/4 parking spaces. On arrival the place looked deserted and reception was closed. The instruction to phone a number was not answered but after 20 mins or so a member of staff turned up. That was in contract to our checking out when the housekeeper / receptionist was great giving us good and helpful info. A quiet nights sleep too.

A little too noisy
Second time I've stayed here and it wasn't like the first. This time, I was on the top floor, I was there for work and had a lot of equipment with me (there was no lift). The room was warm, so I opened the window...all evening you can hear shouting, swearing and the odd bottle being smashed, it was not good. The overall stay was good, but I wouldn't stay again.

Took 3 hours for them to turn the heating off, room was unbearable and took until 23.30 to turn it off. Heavily pregnant wife was less than happy. Took them so long as they were busy in the kitchen (food stopped at 9pm??)

The room was like an attic and it was outside of the main hotel. The flooring was on a slope. And the windows did not open. The bathroom flooring maybe needed re-doing. I would say it was value for money though. Limited parking at rear of hotel.

Terrible place I mean just terrible! The 4 single bed rooms are wooden huts out the back. No hot water until 12 when checkout is 11. Live wires on show. Beds have thinnest mattress ever towel was grey and not the natural colour! Beds had stains on them. This is me being polite one of my colleagues has done a trip adviser review worse

Great hotel
Everything about the place was fine, staff were really friendly, and rooms were clean but the only thing I was concerned about was the fact the bath and taps were contantly running out of hot water, didn't have enough to have a bath and because of this couldn't have a shower as well, also told the lady at reception about this did something about it and then ran out again after five minutes of turning the tap on, didn't ruin my stay but when you pay £70 for one night you'd expect them to have hot water.

Convenient hotel, 15 minutes walk to city centre.
Good for one night, a long stay in this hotel wouldn't be advised. Not exactly luxury but everything you need.

Terrible!!
Hotel location is great, cost around £8 to get to the centre. No hot water or heating. Lights kept tripping. rooms very small and very outdated. Luckily one of the guys is an electrician so sorted the lights out. No one in the whole hotel could have a hot shower. The bar, resturant and staff are excellent they are on hand to help and guide as required. Shame the hotel didn't live up to standard, even budget hotels are better!!

A bit quirky (four beds in my room) but great location and value for money. The four car park spaces always seem to be full, so a short walk to on-street parking areas should be expected. OK in the summer... Oh, and when you're looking for the hotel it's signed The George, not The New George.

Wifi was none existant, room was like a garden shed and the bed was rock hard. The room was not clean daily. Cheap and certainly not cheerful, receptionist has exceedingly poor, basically didn't care!

Good location but let down by poor standards
Very basic, some soap in the bathroom would be a nice touch. Bathroom floor in very poor condition. Staff were helpful when asked about transport but the "chef" didn't know what yoghurt was and couldn't provide marmalade for breakfast as they'd run out! Certainly not what the ad had led me to believe. wouldn't go back or recommend it to anyone.
