Unhappy customers 😑
This is definitely not a 4 stars hotel. It must be a 2 stars boutique homestay instead. Room is too small for 2 king bed. Bathroom is too small with old shower stall. Old furniture and squeaking wood floor. Felt unwelcome by the management. Definitely not happy stay and not recommend to others.

Hi YenFirstly I can assure you that we are a 4 star establishment and not a homestead. You booked the family unit which consist of either 2 Kings or 1 King and twin beds, this is very clear in the description of the room and the pictures. I would recommend you maybe book two double rooms going forward as the family units are created for families sharing. I am disappointed that felt unwelcome by management as I was away for the weekend. I understand Cindy provided you with adapters and according to her you enjoyed your breakfasts every day. Enjoy the rest of your travels in South Africa and hopefully we get an opportunity to give you happy experience next time. Regards Rudi

Great location. Very safe with security monitoring the neighborhood. Cozy place. Could do with a bit of a vacuum since we saw dust balls in a few places. The house keeper was very friendly and the cook/food was decent. no power backup so electricity went out with the load shedding.

Endroit très calme. Très bien située pour les restaurants et pour les visites de Johannesburg (si vous prenez un Uber cela ne vous en coûtera que 4-5€).

A quiet harbour in a puzzling city
It was our first time in Johannesburg. The owner was very helpful, always ready to do us a favour (he called Uber a few times for our trips around the city, for taxis are very hard to find in Joburg, unless you want to take the collective ones, which for us appeared a bit complicated). The area is very quiet and nice, 7th street (and only 7th street!) is animated at night, with agreeable restaurants and bars. The personnel is great!

Fantastic stay.
We were initially booked in for 3 nights but enjoyed it so much that we ended up staying for 7. The guesthouse is lovely and the manager, Lizelle, could not have been more helpful. The local area is safe and packed with great restaurants and bars.

Gem of a family run 'hotel' in fantastic location!
I researched for somewhere in Johannesburg that my daughter and I could stay and meet local people and safely walk in the street - we were not disappointed! The guesthouse is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac and shares a locked stepped passageway up to the main street of Melville, where there is a range of cafes, restaurants and shops, especially the Lucky Bean, which we felt safe visiting for our supper after dark. Deidre couldn't do enough to assist us and make our stay a happy one, she also helped me to check in online for our onward travels. Liz, the proprietor, was always on hand prior to arrival, to answer questions associated with our stay. The guesthouse has a gem of a driver, Mike, to meet you from the Airport and take you on tours - he told us he had even accompanied someone up to the Victoria Falls via Botswana! He took us to some caves 'The Cradle of Mankind' and another excursion we enjoyed, when Mike wasn't free, was visiting Soweto and the Apartheid Museum, etc My daughter was delighted that we were greeted, in our room, by balloons and a lovely (and delicious) cake for her birthday on arrival! We stayed only two nights and wish we had found that there was so much to do prior to booking travel, as we would have stayed longer!

Excellent stay!
Only stayed one night in transit, but stay was excellent and certainly would return! Very early departure but the owner made sure we had a cooked to order hot full breakfast with eggs,bacon, yogurt,etc to send us off. Location was excellent, close to many restaurants and shops. Would highly recommend!

Safe and convenient
Lovely guest house situated in a safe suburb in Johannesburg. Rooms are tastefully decorated and breakfasts are an added bonus. Good bars and restaurants are within close walking distance.

poor wifi
no geral gostei do hotel. Pessoal bastante atencioso e simpático, quarto confortável, boa localização embora necessite de caro (taxi,uber) para se locomover. O que pecou foi realmente a qualidade do wifi, muito instável e um dia não consegui utilizar.

Home away from home
We had an excellent stay at the 7th Street Guesthouse. Its a cozy, comfy, clean and beautiful place! Add the warm hospitality by Liz and her staff to it which was like a cherry on top and made us feel right at home. The guesthouse is located in a safe and nice neighborhood. Also just a street away, there are lots of nice restaurants to choose from. I traveled to SA with kids so I was a bit nervous about staying at a guesthouse for the first time but we absolutely loved it. So its a very family oriented place. We stayed 3 nights there and will highly recommend it to all.

Friendly guesthouse stay in safe area
My wife and I stayed at the 7th Street Guesthouse for 2 nights. We felt very welcomed by Eunika who promptly showed us to our room and explained everything including how to get around the neighborhood (the guesthouse is located on a cul de sac just below the main drag of Melville's 7th Street...you need a key to access a private passage that leads up to the main drag where all the restaurants/shops are located). It really feels like you are staying in a home. Room was clean and comfortable...hot water kettle with tea/coffee were provided. Our stay was during winter so the heating panel on the wall worked great to keep us warm. Eunika was able to arrange a transfer to/from the guesthouse for R400 each way which gave us piece of mind with transportation. Would recommended for someone looking for a safe and comfortable guesthouse with friendly staff. Included breakfast was tasty and greatly appreciated.

Gem in Melville
Only stayed one night to catch a flight the next day. Was perfect for that purpose. Apart from the cosy, safe guesthouse there was a private, safe, locked shortcut to the restaurant/bar area of 7th street Melville. It meant you could actually safely walk and didn't have to take a taxi as in so many other Jo'burg locations. Use of terrace, garden. Very nice.

Great Place Close to Restaurants
My girlfriend and I stayed at the guesthouse for two days and it was excellent. If I came back to Jo'burg I wouldn't even bother looking for another place I would just come back here. Our room was spacious, clean, secure and pleasant. The grounds were nice and there was a patio where meals were served or you could make yourself a coffee or tea. The staff was helpful and friendly and the owner was thoughtful and also had some great stories to share about her experiences living in the city. Laundry was included in the room rate so we emptied out all of our dusty safari clothes and handed them over to the staff. But the best part is the proximity to the 7th street restaurants. There is a private, locked and fenced in stairway that takes you from the guesthouse up to the restaurant area. The options are plentiful and delicious.

A gem in JoBurg
This hotel is a gem. The owner and staff are so nice and helpful, it gives you faith in human nature. I can't say enough good about this place and the people. Airport transfers, tour information and assistance, laundry service, fantastic breakfast, nice location right in Melville. The owner went out of her way to make me breakfast when I left early on my last day, and all requests during my stay were accommodated. Wonderful guesthouse, amazingly friendly and helpful owner and staff. Jeffrey and Precious were wonderful and knowledgeable drivers who made the tours and transport very enjoyable. Stay her when you are in JoBurg.

The little problems didn't spoil the stay
It is very difficult to evaluate B&Bs and Hotels without a class differentiation. As a B&B 7th Street Guesthouse is a nice place, with a very kind and dedicated management. Eunika made arrangements for airport transfer, indicated a private driver that took us around Johannesburg, and even noticed that we had bought bananas to add to our breakfast and had these fruits available on the third day. Little things that improve your stay! Also a nice touch is the free laundry service. Great, especially when you are already 4 days 'on the road' as we were. The location is a bit off the main stream, and you end up needing a taxi to go almost anywhere, but it is manageable. The only real drawback was that is was quite cold, and the heating in the room just didn't get the room warm enough. The last two nights were a bit uncomfortable because of that.

L'établissement n'est que propreté et gentillesse ! Tenu par Eunika, dame d'une grande gentillesse et d'une grande serviabilité. Elle est très disponible ! Elle organise tout et surveille que tout soit parfait ! Chambre grande et propre ! Ambiance très conviviale et familiale ! Petit déjeuner BON et COPIEUX ! Rather book a luxury room in future. The Comfort rooms are slighter smaller than the others and that is the reason they are cheaper than the others.

Nice guesthouse with good location
I booked three nights at this guesthouse. I had a nice reception from the lady that manages the place. My room was well-appointed with a nice bathroom. Toiletries, such as shampoo, bath gel, body lotion and little soaps were provided. Towels and bed linens are very clean, smell fresh. Breakfast is provided and it includes some cold items, as well as a hot breakfast items, such as cooked to order eggs, bacon, sausages. It was good. My only concern would be staying there in the summer as I noticed there is no air conditioner. The location is actually very quiet, on a cul-de-sac, and with quick access to 7th avenue with all the restaurants and bars. Although my room (#3) was a little noisy because it is right next to the dining room. Also, someone arrived late at night (around 10:00 pm) and they were pretty loud. Next time I will ask for a more private area, no big deal. Overall, I recommend this venue.

When we renovated the house, we placed insolation in the ceilings so that the rooms are not cods in winter and are kept cool in summer. However we also have fans in the rooms for those exceptional days. We try our best to keep our guests comfortarble at all times.

Nice hotel in a good neighborhood
I actually extended my stay here, after an unfortunate situation. Eunika was very kind and accommodating. The area is secure, the staff is very friendly. The shuttle - 350R - was great. The driver was on time and made a great guide coming into the city.
