The shuttle service is a joke...they were not at the airport to meet us although detsils were sent to them weeks before we arrived. Ehen we eventually got through to them they turned up to pick up 3 of us our 5 suitcases and 3 hand luggages in a salon car. Two of us were crushed in the back seat with luggage almost on top of us. When we got to the hotel they had no room for us and said we would be sent to another place a guest house belonging the the Hotel owner's brother. We had a further wait then to be taken to a small guest house 10 minutes away. These people are terrible...

I arrived Johannesburg at past 1Am and this guest house was closed for the day, I had earlier sent them a message of my flight details and arrival time. They were locked and said the room had been given to someone else. That they tried to call me. How do you call someone who is airborne? When I sent a message why didn’t I get a response? I was left in the cold night stranded and the staff who I met outside was very rude to me. Saying they are fully booked

The property is located right across from the airport, in a convenient location. Very limited dining option, almost non-existent WiFi, and had electricity only half the time I was there. This meant no tv, no air, no water on the sink, no water on the toilet, no internet, no lights, etc.

It was good but could not sleep well because of Mosquitoes and the Hotel shoup some little bath soap incase one doesnt rravel with any toiletry.A bath soap is better and Mosquitoes the hotel should make a serious plan.

Need for touch ups
Need to improve the showers, move smokers far from the rooms and give detailed for guests about everything including how food orders are made.

Great location, nice premises for price. But small dog barked too much, room smelled of smoke, and the receptionist didn't book the shuttle as requested.

Basic and clean accommodation
The guest house is located conveniently right near the airport, approx. 10 min drive. As we started our tour with On the Go here we received a free airport shuttle pick up. There was a lady with a sign waiting to greet us at the arrival hall however if someone is not there to greet you, a simple phone call to the guest house will ensure they send a driver asap. The guest house is very clean simple accommodation. It has gardens with lots of tables to sit and chill in the sun and the shade and a cool treehouse style deck with a random enclosure with a squirrel. There is also enclosures with carrier pidgions which add to the quirkiness of the place. We arrived quite late from the airport and the girls at the front desk are all pretty relaxed and friendly. Our room was located across the road from the main building in their additional complex. While it an be a little odd at first being separated from the main building we all felt very safe. The complex is fenced and gated and all the doors and windows have bars and security doors so while you do get a slight Alcatraz vibe, it comforting to feel safe. The distance across the road from he main building is literally diagonal about 150 metres. It takes you about a minute to walk there. Some others have mentioned feeling unsafe at night we did not. Rooms were clean and basic but no hairdriers actually available. I would reccomend Doves Nest as a convenient and basic place to stay.

People smoking within the building. The rooms were not what we had requested. The Guest house did not have the room we requested and took us to another place that was not to standard, and was dirty. The garbage bin was not emptied and flies were flying all over the room. The tea/coffee making area was equally not organised, we could not find a single spoon. The room telephone was not working and one had to walk across the road to reach reception. In general it was pathetic.

A vantagem do hotel é estar bem perto do aeroporto e ter um preço razoável. No entanto, o local em geral não tem uma atmosfera boa. Fiquei em um quarto triplo, que era até bem espaçoso, mas faltou cuidado com certos detalhes que fazem a diferença. Havia um banheiro completo (com chuveiro, vaso sanitário e lavatório, mas o boxe do chuveiro, que tinha apenas uma cortina de plástico , foi construído de uma forma que a água não era contida e acabo vazou por todo o banheiro e o corredor. Havia também mais dois ambientes com apenas o vaso sanitário, mas ambos sem lixeira. O café da manhã incluído na diária era de estilo inglês, não havendo outras opções.

check in rapido e bom,pessoal muito atencioso, mas nosso quarto, enorme, impovisado dentro de um salão de convenções tinha camas ruins, colchões moles e roupas de cama com higiene duvidosa. A localização é que é estratégica para o aeroporto, pra quem, como nós, viemos da cidade do cabo para pegar o avião para o Brasil logo cedo

Breakfast was advertised as a continental breakfast, the guest was only served a wrap filled with lettuce and half a egg, no other breakfast options were given. The kettle in the room was not working.

When we went to check in we were told there were no rooms despite prepaying. This in itself is unacceptable. We were then put into an establishment next door which was very tired to say the least. It was more like a backpacker location with four beds in one room. The mattresses were so hard they were virtually solid, so much so that I couldn’t sleep. Was unable to watch TV as that didn’t work. The toilet was broken and so was the shower, although as you couldn’t control the temperature it’s probably just as well. Lighting was dodgy if fact there was not one redeeming feature. And we were told these were the nicer rooms. Breakfast was as disappointing as the room. When I get back home and have access to a phone I will be contacting Hotels.com to demand a refund.

Local hotel close to O.R. Tambo airport
Complimentary airport transfer to and from O.R. Tambo. Breakfast included and modestly priced set menu dinner available. No frills, but rooms are clean and secure. Ideal location for overnighting close to the airport. Might be a bit cramped for a longer stay. Also there didn’t appear to be shops, restaurants, etc. close by. Their computer system had lost the record of my pre-payment through Wotif. Or perhaps Wotif hadn’t made the payment. Which of these was never clear. In any event, it took four international calls to Wotif to resolve. Of these only 1out of the 3 Wotif service persons was particularly helpful. Of the other two, one said he’d send an email to the hotel confirming payment, but he never did; the other said he couldn’t help because the Wotif system was down, but undertook to resolve the issue and call the hotel within an hour to confirm -he never did! The third. I would happily stay at the hotel again, but I’d book directly and pay on arrival, rather than risk going through Wotif again. Also, I suspect you get a better price if you book directly. Just google the Dove’s Nest site for details

Très bon accueil. Navette gratuite pour l'aéroport (toutes les heures), ainsi que pour la gare pour aller à Johannesburg (train type TER ou RER). Il est possible de laisser ses bagages à l'accueil, après avoir libéré la chambre, pour aller visiter Johannesburg.

Moved to the next door property
This is my second stay at the Dove's Nest. We were promptly met at the airport but when we arrived at the hotel there was no room so they put us at the next door property, Emerald. It was fine but a little weird to get moved right away. Over there, we were able to have dinner and the shuttle left on time the following morning as we had a very early flight. A fine stay for a quick overnight at the airport!

Très très ordinaire. Personnel de la réception aucunement sympathique. La seule raison valable de s'y arrêter serait pour une nuit rapide en arrivant à l'aéroport ou avant le départ, puisque situé tout près de l'aéroport internationale.

Bad experience
I have used this Guest house a few times and each time the customer service gets gradually worse, when i arrived the airport shuttle took well more than an hour to pick me up and when i asked for the shuttle back the day before i left they refused to give me one as my check in was at 4.50am, their excuse was that "our shuttles would only do either 5am or 4am" which i felt was unfair, i never the less got an uber. Also upon arriving at the Guest house i told the reception desk that the last time i was there a month or two before i had a flash drive with work documents taken from my stuff by their cleaning staff they seemed not to care and didn't indicate that anything would happen or even give a hint of being apologetic, i am disappointed and would love to see this change.

Great People and stay!!!
The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and more. The shuttle even go to the shop for you. The chef come to greet us and took our drinking order!! We left to early the next day for breakfast, so they made us some take away sandwiches with juice. They also took us to the airport @ 4h30 the morning and let us leave our car in their parking area for a very low fee. Then they collected us again at the airport with arrival. Such friendly and accommodating people, all of them. Sarah and the chef really went out of their way to be more helpful with everything. I will definitely go back again. And the food was great!!!

The airport shuttle was 2 hours late!!!! They changed and gave a room in a completely different accommodation without notice.

Affordable hotel close to Tambo Airport
I wanted a hotel close to the airport. Dove's Nest is comfortable; fancy it is not. But it is a good budget option. Breakfast way more than adequate and dinner (extra cost) was more than sufficient.

Nice hotel near the airport.
The staff were extremely helpful and made the whole experience stress free. Petros came to pick me up at the airport and went out of his way to help me.

J ai choisi la veille sur internet pour une nuit de transit une chambre pres de l. Aeroport de jobburg avec navette. Le tarif au debut etait de 49€ j ai paye au final 890r soit 68e !! Pour une chambre de 9m2 sans confort sans porte au coin douche wc de 3m2 !! C etait juste pour un transit mais c etait bizarre la navette etait la donc super...

Bad experience!
It was the worst part of our otherwise wonderful trip to South Africa. The desk staff was unconcerned & a mite rude, no air conditioning or fan in the room. Bad bathroom. Requested for a wake-up call which was ignored which nearly cost us our international flight. Asked for dinner but the lady at the desk was more busy squabbling with the guy (chef?)in the kitchen. Will not recommend this place if you're out for a pleasant stay. The Protea hotel which is next door is the place to go to.
