This boutique hotel is special. Proximity to Rosebank premier amenities while being tucked away in a block close to the highway. The friendliness and helpfulness of staff was top tier. Room service, food and other add ins were not only affordable, but fresh, well presented and wide ranging. Really a perfect alternative to a stay at a cookie cutter hotel model. Please change very little about this place!!

Do it!! Absolutely incredible stay!!!
We had the most incredible stay at The Winston. All I can say is GO!! My best friends & I stopped in for one night & wished we’d had a week. Super friendly staff, beautiful rooms, a gorgeous pool, and brilliant food in the restaurant for breakfast & dinner. We can’t wait to come back!

Worst hotel stay for that amount of money...terrib
Soon as I closed the windows trying to go to bed, there was an overwhelming smell of stale cooking filling the room. I called reception trying to change rooms. All I got was that they are fully booked and no commitment to try and sort out my concern. The receptionist told me to sleep with the windows open to try and get rid of the smell. The wi-fi was so slow to non existend that i had to get my husband to remotely arrange an alternate accommodation for me.

Everything was perfect. Highly suggested hotel!! The bedroom was very spacious and and the hotel facilities were perfect. The only suggestion is to upgrade the bathroom as they are a slightly dated. On a separate note I also suggest to add another set of towels, I was just by myself however if there was another person we would not have enough towels. I will definitely come back to this hotel!!! Love it

Nice but not 5star
My stay was pleasant but this is no way a 5 star property. Unless it is based on a different standard. This use to be a very fine boutique property but the little details are missing to be 5star. Maybe a review is required.

Good but not great
Nice hotel - unfortunately room wasn’t available on arrival even though it was after check in time. Staff friendly and try to be helpful just average in delivery.

WiFi was my biggest complaint here. Otherwise, the rooms were spacious and well appointed and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

The property was located in a great area! Pretty walkable with a great mall and dining options nearby. I will say this, we had exceptional customer service from start to finish. Everyone was kind. The property felt secure. I loved the decor - super cute and authentic. I just wouldn’t book it myself again until some of those kinks were worked out. However, we ran into several issues during our stay. Safe didn’t work - we were advised it would be fixed twice, that never happened. A big no no for us as we were visiting from out of the country and had valuables we couldn’t walk around with day to day (laptops, camera equipment, passports, etc). The heater didn’t work long enough to warm anything up. The room wasn’t very soundproof. We were located on the first floor and able to hear people on the steps, employees loitering behind the room, the pool draining… you name it, it was loud. The water wouldn’t stay hot enough for us to both shower back to back (we take maybe 15 minutes combined), so I started showering at night and my partner would shower in the morning. We requested clean towels and they were simply folded up and placed back on the bathroom shelf… I knew because I accidentally got some makeup from my forehead on it. The room keys also deactivate very easily. We were advised not to place near cell phones or near credit cards after the first time it deactivated. That was a bit inconvenient since I carried a fanny pack throughout the trip.

Overall nice place, but not what is expected from a 5 star stay. Bathroom mirrors dirty and resturant music starts at 7am which can be heard from the rooms

All Joburg is unsafe so the Winston can’t be blamed for that. My only real gripe was lack of response when I tried to arrange an airport pickup; I emailed as well as texted the Winston reception to request this but didn’t receive a reply.

Nice and Relaxed and friendly staff
Really nice and relaxed place, staff were friendly and services good. We had lunch one day there and it was very tasty but a bit small. Rooms were very nice and had a lot of nice thoughtful touches

The room was beautiful and the breakfast delicious. I was not aware that there was a function at the hotel and the restaurant was completely closed to me for evening dinner. I was forced to sit alone at the bar balancing a pizza on my lap. Not an ideal or nice experience for what would otherwise we a lovely hotel for an overnight stay.

y boutique hotel.
We flew into Johannesburg and came here. The host was friendly but it other staff that really spent the time to make our stay a memorable one. He stored our luggage until our room was ready and after breakfast on day one he surprised us by bringing us our morning beverages without even being asked. It was a lovely room with a clean bathroom and comfortable bed.

Wonderful hotel in quiet neighborhood
The hotel is located in a quiet street, yet close to the mall and train station. Exquisite interior design throughout, quiet pool/garden/outdoor seating area. Rooms have all amenities that you can wish for. WiFi is available everywhere, but must switch between various locations. Great breakfast selection. We decided to have dinner when we arrived after reading many good reviews and were not disappointed, restaurant is definitely worth eating there. Super friendly staff.

No WiFi the first two days. No clear explanation how to operate the HVAC, room was cold the first two days. That notwithstanding, the staff was very nice. Overall, hotel is way overpriced for what it has to offer
