Thank you for taking the time to respond, a lot of the economy rooms are blocked by the tour group at a group rate, and these rooms can be on the smaller side. We have over a dozen room types at our historic hotel and we are working on many updates which can take a lot longer in Alaska.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, I apologize for your experience of our hotel- we had a very warm weekend and our hotel is very busy during summer. I will share this review with housekeeping and janitorial staff to cover all bases and address the other issue you found with the hotel- my apologies that we missed something to create this impression for you.

We are working throughout the year on updates to the building and are currently working on guest room design updates and phasing. Juneau and Alaska overall are very expensive to live in year round, and the seasonal demands on the hotel and staffing reflect the overall living and transport costs in the state. As a union hotel we strive to pay our staff fair wages and our rooms prices are quite high in the summer and we must add a lot of staff to run the hotel for this very busy tourist season in our "bucket list" destination.

Our carpet was replaced in 2016, but we are in progress of a new rooms update and are working with the Best Western Design to phase this project over a couple of winters so we don't impact our busy seasons.

Thank for taking the time to rate our hotel, I see we did not meet your expectations- we have many plans to improve the property decor throughout and we are always finding new way to fine tune our customer service, especially during peak season when we serve many guests.

Thank you so much for the good rating and the honest critique- our historic building and the city codes make it difficult to implement the construction and electrical load to support A/C throughout the hotel. We are looking for the proper newer HVAC technology to support such an improvement, but for the most part, hot days in Juneau, Alaska are very limited in number.

Thank you for taking the time to repsond, the economy rooms are smaller, part of the original building (1939) and have thinner walls. They are priced lower than the standard and the premium rooms for this reason. Additionally we are located in the heart of Downtown Juneau and there are many late night and early morning noises and activities in the area. Thank you for sharing so that other prospective guests will be aware.
