Friendly staff, beautiful old building, great breakfast. Unfortunately we arrived during storm Ciara which gave problems with the boiler resulting in no hot water when we arrived. Not what we needed after a 24 hour trip from Australia. We had to go meet family for dinner without having a shower. We had lukewarm water next morning but after that it got better. The staff were very apologetic and offered us a change of room as room 4 where we stayed was very slow to get hot water. It was a lovely big room though and we had already unpacked so we decided it wasn't worth moving. We had snow, sleet and rain during our stay but our room was nice and cosy. Enjoyed our stay overall.

Travelled on business and stayed the one night. Stayed in a single room which was compact, but functional. Evening meal was excellent, varied menu and home cooked. Great VFM. Have to say though, the breakfast in the morning, probably the best I have had - Full Scottish Breakfast and it was exceptional. Helpful staff and attentive - lady on Reception at checkout was extremely pleasant. Would visit again and recommend 100%

I stayed 2 nights and unfortunately my room was directly above the function suite. I was not made aware on my arrival that there was to be a function that evening that included a loud disco and karaoke until the early hours of the following morning. When I complained the next morning I did receive a sympathetic response being told that there was no function planning that evening. The shower in the room ensuite produced only lukewarm/cool water. Whilst the staff were pleasant this was not an enjoyable stay.

Chateau agréable, personnel accueillant et serviable, repas et petit déjeuner bon. Il y avait une bonne ambiance, le bar est top. Côté chambre rien ne manquait et la literie était bonne. Etablissement à recommander.

Location of property was good and our room had lovely view. Shower in room was difficult at times due to being an old property with old piping. This would not deter us from returning.

Wouldn’t return
The single room was clean, but tiny. Like a cell. The bed was very small. The room looked directly into another room - just a few feet away. I was woken up very early each morning both by other residents and also staff walking up and down the corridor talking quiet noisily. Breakfast was good. The members of staff I met were friendly and professional however there didn’t seem to be enough of them.

Cute little hotel. Food was average though and the waitress seemed irked that we were a party of 3 and all the tables were set for two! And then we did not order a drink! We felt a bit unwelcome in the restaurant.

Nice hotel keeping a lot of its character from when it was built, nice staircase , cornice and ceilings. Very good location for NT properties Falkland palace 20 mins .Culross . Ravenscraig Park opposite nice walk up to castle ruins, and in the opposite direction Dysart harbour and harbourmasters house with cafe. Staff very good, food excellent, Compliments to the chefs .

Great value in a classic Scottish manor house
Upon entry to the reception area my wife and I were greeted by a roaring wood fire in the lobby fireplace. Terrific on a chilly, damp Scottish day.The check-in was a breeze. The room was clean and nicely appointed. We even had a deck! Aside from the lounge area, there is a whisky & gin bar for more intimate conversation and relaxation. The restaurant was busy and everything we ordered during our two night stay was top notch. The hotel is within walking distance to the harbor area. However it seems Kirkcaldy has seen better days. Not one restaurant, tea room, shop, etc. near the water's edge. As we picked Kirkcaldy as a "base" for exploring the Fife southern coast it was just fine. The hotel is reasonably priced and if St. Andrews is your target, it is only a hour away via a pleasant drive along the coast of the Firth of Forth.

Kept awake by noisy guests in room next door. No one in hotel to address it. No hot water in the morning

Kirkcaldy Gem
The Strathearn offers a clean and authentic Scottish accommodation. The breakfast was a fabulous offering of eggs, pancakes, fruit, yoghurts and cereals. Within walking distance to the beautiful ravenscraig park and the towns of Dysart and Kikcaldy. Our room was very clean with lots of room. Will return again!

A nice old mansion that need some update.
This hotel is in an old mansion and our bedroom was #6 near the heating/boiler system which was very noisy and lots of vibration and reverberances in our room when running. Fortunately it does not run all the time. The hotel appearance is outdated but still with some charm. Our mattress was worn out, the springs making noise - not very comfortable unfortunately. We stayed only one night. The room is very spacious but the bathroom is very small. The breakfast was very good. Some other rooms might be better than the one we have but cannot tell.

Le cadre est magnifique mais l’entretien de l’hotel et l’hygiène laisse à désirer. La salle du restaurant est vraiment typique à l’environnement mais la qualité de la cuisine laisse à désirer également.

A hotel with a view and outstanding comfort
An excellent hotel which should have a higher rating. Excellent beds, bedrooms and views. The hotel is very comfortable with a gin and whiskey bar. There is a separate bar and restaurant which serves very good meals at value for money prices. The hotel is located close to the coast and a park which provides excellent coastal walks. It is within walking distance of the town. Locals make good use of the hotel adding great character to the hotel. Staff are friendly. The hotel is suitable for couples and families but more senior persons may struggle upstairs to bedrooms.

Very Basic
Very basic. Could do with some curtains on the windows. Blinds don't keep out the light at 5am in May! And a full length mirror would be handy. But it was clean.

Very pleasant stay.
Evening staff were really nice. The hotel is very smart and clean. The bar was good, I ate starters which were more than enough for me. The bedroom I had was large and clean. The ensuite was clean and big enough. The shower was poor. Very hot but not enough power for a workman!! The breakfast was enormous. Reception was not open for me to check out at 7:30am, so had to go back later to on to get my receipts.

Value for money
Booked for 5 nights. Room allocated on arrival was cold and draughty but were given another immediately. Larger and better !!. Full Scottish Breakfasts were superb. Evening dinner menu great value for money, but would recommend booking a table in advance weekends as it is very popular with locals. A good sign. Staff really friendly. Would recommend this hotel as very good place to stay although not too close to town.

Hotel has closed down
The hotel was closed two months ago. We turned up because a hadn't been told. Not impressed with still being asked about it by Hotels.com even after complaining. Still waiting for them to come back to me with refund and comp.

I can't really give a positive review of the hotel as it was closed! I visited a work associate on Thursday 21st May to be informed that the owners of the hotel had mysteriously vanished overnight the local paper reported that this had left people who had booked stays and weddings in limbo. Luckily my colleague booked me into another hotel in the town the Beverage Park Hotel and that was just great.

OK overnight stay
It was non peak season and they seemed to be a little off their game. The furniture and the decor were out dated, even for a Victorian style hotel. Some of the staff were not very friendly, giving an appearance of being annoyed when we wanted to check in/eat dinner. The rooms were very small. I am 5'5" and had trouble standing in the shower. They were out of most draft beers advertised and only had one tape working.Overall it was a perfect location if you are exploring the Fife region. It's central to a lot of attractions in that area. However the less than warm reception and the worn out decor force me to give it 3 stars (and only because I think we were catching them on an off day)

Food and table waiter service excellent!
Although the food and waiter service was excellent, both my wife and I felt the staff and there polite efforts to please were let down with poor shower fixtures and fittings, the curtains where cheap and almost transparent but the bedding and linen was clean, we conclude the room that we stayed in was basic but would defiantly rebook, I estimate that just £100 would fix the above negatives.

I have stayed here 3 times for some old works reunions, and the rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly. The hotel is in a quiet area and the park opposite is great for a morning walk to clear out the cobwebs. The breakfast is the only food i have had there and it is pretty good with generous helpings.
