good day Juan... we are sorry that you were unhappy with your stay. As to the hot water, had you said something we could have checked and fixed anything that was required. You were aware that the area water pump went down, and perhaps there was air in your pipes, I don't know. Though the next guests had hot water, so my guess is it was probably that cause (though we shall never know, as you didn't say anything at the time and only commented when leaving that the hot water system did not work for you)... As to "cleaning", we by policy never enter a guests room without their requesting it and leaving the key at the front desk, perhaps you didn't see the policy statement in the kitchen area by the entrance to the room - you know that had Silvia been asked to attend to your room, she would have been jolly on the spot doing it). I am glad however that you enjoyed the food in the restaurant, and seemed to be participating in many jocular conversations with other guest. We thank you for taking the time to write, as clearly those that do give comments are either very happy or very sad. No one should be sad after a holiday with us.

Hi there "Anonymous", we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We have always found that "Good Guests" make for a Great Time for all; the guests, the staff and the community... As to the hot water... I wish you had brought it to our attention. The answer is there was hot water, but the valves in each room must be operated in sequence... not too hard once someone shows you... it only happens when there is a lot of demand on the systems, but since there are 6 different hot water systems, it can always be avoided... but, you did say "at times" ... again, next time say something, we want your stay to be the best possible time for you, and a "cold shower" is a cold shower... unless you are into that sort of self abuse... which clearly is not the case... Again, thank you for choosing to spend your valuable vacation time with Hotel Nuestro Sueno...

a pity that you did not have time to write some information so that we could seek improve, but we hop that your stay helped fulfill your holiday dreams and aspirations... did you enjoy the fireworks???

We are pleased that you took the time to post a commentary, and appreciated those praises that you appropriately posted regarding the hotel. However, your opinion regarding the level of maintenance and usability of certain amenities are perhaps a bit stilted and without knowledge. We are aware that you work in the USA is as an apartment maintenance manager, and having owned and operated many apartment complexes in the same area where you live, we DO understand the way things are done. Whereas your work calls for you to deal with people who are long term residents, in the hotel industry (where we have 30 years experience) is quite different. The room with the hydro-massage tub was previously scheduled for removal the day after your reservation, said action being needed because a previous guest had broken the control value and caused the heating unit control to burn out (the tub has been removed) -- though, guests that reserve without amenities would not be thought to have planned to use it. The one fountain that is turned off is because guests often complained that the noise it generated made their sleep difficult (sleep is important at hotels) the other fountains and waterfalls are run on a schedule; the Jacuzzi jets are deliberately turned off and we offer a hot tub for our guest that have purchased the amenity package, simply because at our altitude the outside Jacuzzi looses temperature too rapidly with the jets sending in the cool mountain air, and our guests have caused us to determine that having hot water for longer time in the family tub is more important than a few minutes of bubbles; the removed televisions in the formal dining area are done because again, some guests abused the televisions during evening dining that disrupted the calm ambiance and views from the formal dining area (we do put them back up for sporting events and when the facility is rented for private affairs, as well as there being the TV lounge that serves guests who find that their IN ROOM 32 inch flat screens are not sufficiently large for their viewing pleasure; and, as to fireplaces (chimneys) that do not work, since we are the ONLY hotel in the area that offers this feature, and since we take great pride in that fact, I can assure you that each and every fireplace in the hotel functions and serves to take the chill out of our frequently cool evenings - perhaps, you did not understand that one of the three rooms that you occupied had a door on the fireplace that keeps birds from flying down into the room which of course in southern California where there are few legal wood burning fireplaces this issue is no longer realized. I am glad you enjoyed the steam room (also a rarity in the region) and our breakfast offerings are legendary. All of these services and amenities can be better offered and provided when guests actually reserve their rooms correctly for the size of their group, and pay for them. You will recall that even though you had not paid

Since you did not have the courtesy to say who you were, when you stay (if you actually stayed) or any other meaningful detail upon which we might seek to improve the service that we take very seriously; we will pleasantly and cheerfully ignore your "opinion" as a waste of time. thank you for taking the time to write about us. We always try to allow our guests the ability to sleep in unless they request an early departure, hence our breakfast time is later than most other hotels. As to the WIFI, sadly, our local signal fluctuates widely, and at times it is not strong enough, especially if one is trying to download large files. But the slow WIFI is a cheap price to pay to be in Paradise and enjoying Lake Atitlan...

Hi Robert... Good and thinking guests make for great experiences for all - visitors and staff alike!!! Your advise is sound... very few places are like Disneyland, where everything is controlled and reduced to planned experiences. Being a tourist / traveler is based in the new and stimulating... Your comment regarding "local foods" is very sound... Health standards vary around the world, and when traveling on tight schedules there is little time for ones stomach to adjust to local realities. small sood stands are always less expensive, but there are reasons... they do not have the expenses of those little things like refrigeration and sanitary standards. One must be careful, even in Los Angeles... put more so in the third world streets... We look forward to your return to Lake Atitlan (many guests come regularly back to enjoy Mayan Paradise)...
