This was our second time at this hotel, having visited at the same time last year. As before we had a great stay for a week. There was initially a minor mix-up over our pick-up from the airport, which we had booked in advance. There was no car to meet and greet us as we had booked. But when we phoned the hotel, they quickly sorted it out by paying for a taxi there and then. Also when we arrived at reception, they gave us an upgrade from an ocean-view room to a deluxe suite with a private jacuzzi. Much more than we expected. So a great start to a great week. Everything about this small intimate hotel is excellent, the original eco-design, the rooms and facilities, the Kentia gourmet restaurant and cocktail bar, the locally-inspired planting and most of all the friendly helpful staff. They are all highly trained to give individual care and attention. The hotel was fully booked whilst we were there, so occasionally, the pool-bar staff became a little overwhelmed by guest requests. A simple solution would be at least 3 or 4 staff on duty during busy times or a dedicated pool boy/girl for sunbeds etc. A very minor fault in an otherwise perfect hotel. If you want 5 star in Lanzarote - La Isla Yel Mar is the place.

Upon arrival we received a welcome drink and checked in. The reception staff provided us with maps and information about the hotel and our luggage was taken to our room. I realised that when we got into our room, they had upgraded us to a fantastic deluxe suite (whether it was because I had just celebrated my birthday), but they never commented at check-in so this was a great start to the holiday. We booked on a half board basis and couldn't fault the choice and variety of food on the menu. For breakfast they have a separate menu for eggs, as well as a buffet for cooked breakfast, cold meat platter, yoghurt & fruit plus pastries and breads. For the evening they offer you a choice of 4 main courses, as well as a salad and dessert bar and wine menu. You were never rushed whilst eating and the staff were on hand to ask for anything extra you required. Breakfast can get quite busy so they use the Gourmet Club as an overflow to eat, rather than keep people waiting. The housekeeping services are excellent and staff were still around cleaning rooms into the evening. Towels were changed daily and everything was kept spotless, we couldn't fault anything. One of the bulbs had gone in our room so reported it and they sent staff up within no time at all to replace and check the rest out. Pool towels were supplied and again all the areas were kept clean and staff were available to bring drinks over. Would highly recommend a stay, we couldn't fault the staff or service !!!

We booked the Atlantic suite that, according to the Expedia description, comes with 2 single beds. Unfortunately, none of the Atlantic suite have two singles beds. We got two duvets, which was nice but isn't the same as two singles. Reception told us that there is no guarantee to get a twin room. That's irrelevant if your room description is clear about number of beds. I would not have noted this hotel if I had known. Otherwise, it's a lovely hotel with a very relaxed atmosphere and vibe to it. Breakfast had lots of choices and is lovely.

Très bon hôtel. Un bon 4*y Probablement un vrai 5* lors de l’ouverture, mais par manque d’entretien matériel je baisserais a 4. Propre mais pas entretenu comme un 5 étoiles. Malheureusement une bonne partie de la clientèle est peu éduquée et réserve dès l’aurore les transats à la piscine, signe de bas de gamme. Peu d’impact ppur nous car on a profité des magnifiques plages à quelques km de l’hôtel. Voiture de location obligatoire pour visitera Hôtel a recommander !

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Rooms were very large and comfortable. We did have a problem with our air conditioning for 3 nights which was a disaster with the heat. We told the guy in reception who tried to tell us it was working but it wasn't. The following day they changed motor in the unit and all was good again. Hotel offered us free dinners in hotel for rest of the holiday which was a nice touch from them.. Beds around pool were very comfortable, pool area was very pretty. Also great selections for breakfast. Would gladly go back again.

Everything taken into account, this is an excellent hotel. We stayed for 7 nights from 6 March to 13 March in an ocean-view suite. They are a bit more expensive but worth the sea view and private balcony. If you are looking for rest and relaxation in beautiful surroundings, this is for you. The rooms are laid out in beautiful gardens of cacti and flowering succulents. The architecture creates the impression you are in the natural rocky landscape of Lanzarote surrounded by North African planting. All the usual facilities of a 5 star are there. Staff were friendly & service was good. Menu in the main restaurant was limited and a little uninspiring, but the Kentia restaurant was excellent - we would recommend the tasting menu. Would we re-visit? Yes certainly.

I stayed in one of the pool-view suites over Christmas, and it was fabulous! The dinner buffet and breakfast were 10/10 and staff was lovely. They also gave us a complimentary prosecco to wish us a merry christmas. Really nice touch.

Nice hotel but only 4 star. Limited servicehours in restaurants and roomservice, limited menues. Ok pricing but overall lack of qualitychecks in the suites, minor things but frequently. Good hotel for sunbathing holiday and relaxing (no kids), but observe the location on high hill in the city. Very nice and serviceminded staff.

very average hotel that looks a lot better than it is, breakfast was always awful, egg never cooked how you asked and some limited hot buffet items that weren't that hot or of a good quality. The room needed some serious tlc there were quite a few things wrong with it.

Rooms are quite comfortable, spacious and a great shower, swimming pool very nice and breakfast is super good, but the most, people at the hotel is very friendly !

Superb hotel
Fantastic stay at La Isla Y El Mar from first stepping into the lobby to check out after ten nights. Room was kept spotlessly clean as were the hotel grounds but what really made the stay special was the staff. Everyone from reception to cleaners, bar staff to grounds maintenance were always welcoming, greeting us every time they saw us - but in a genuine way, not artificial like you sometimes get. Would I stay again? Absolutely!

Very clean, food is extremely good, menu changes daily during our stay, excellent value, based on our experience very happy staff at all level from management, to reception, cleaners, maintenance and restaurant staff, credit to the management team

Fabulous
A lovely modern hotel in a quieter location. Excellent amenities and service from all staff. Fantastic breakfast and very large suite. Only minor issues, configurations of wardrobes poor- couldn’t hang long dresses and had to call for iron and board.

Wunderschöne ruhige Oase in perfekterLage
Eine wunderschöne ruhige Anlage...sehr sauber, modern und grosszügige Zimmer mit Terasse. Alle Mitarbeiter sehr motiviert und freundlich. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Meerblick und einer kleinen Terrasse. Leider ohne Liegestühle....die würde ich auf jeden Fall empfehlen. Denn leider wurden auch hier morgens die Liegeflächen am Pool und auf der Sonnenterrasse mit Handtüchern belegt...das wurde leider toleriert...Frühstück war sehr gut und ausreichend. Sonderbestellungen waren jederzeit möglich. Die Lage des Hotels ist perfekt und eine Bushaltestelle zu allen Zielen auf der Insel fast vor der Tür. Wir haben über die Rezeption für 2 Tage ein Auto gemietet..Abwicklung und Preis perfekt. Wir kommen wieder...

Fabulous stay
Hotel was very clean. The staff were exceptional. Breakfast delicious with plenty of choice. The no reserve sun bed policy worked very well so there were always sun beds available.
