This property has seen better days... Morning after first night of two night stay I discovered the cold tap on the handbasin was not working. I alerted the management and, as they did not offer to fix the tap, I asked for a room change which they implemented straight away. No problems the second night.

Nice place with an interesting history. Friendly staff, excellent service and immaculately clean. Pricing was fair considering I booked it for the very same night I was making the booking

This was a VERY last minute booking as I arrived at another hotel which was terrible, this one was slightly better, but much more expensive, and not justified. I understood they weren't ready for our arrival, however, if the room is showing as available, it should be ready to go. I had to go back to the reception 3 times to get toilet roll an extra mug as there was only 1 and handwash/shower gel as the one in the room had finished. The room was very cold upon entry as the window was open and there is no heating in the room. There are no smoking signs all around the hotel, but you can smell the cigarette smoke in the corridors. Prices should be reduced for its current state. The bar is showing on the website but it is closed for renovations. The whole hotel was probably beautiful in its heyday but very much run down now and in need of a lot of money being spent to make it what could be a stunning property and incredibly central.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. The photos on the site must have been taken years ago. Room smelly and shabby. Bedding didn’t look clean. We checked out after one night of a four night stay.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed, upon entry there no one on reception. When they finally come down after multiple phones the member of staff stunk of drunks and clearly should not of been there. But then the door to my room appeared to have been broken in before plus I got trapped in there trying to leave. The entire time I was there I feared what would happen. I WOULD NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN!!!!

Restaurant was closed and had been for 6 months due to renovations. Had hugh builder sized mugs and no spoon to make drinks. Entrance to hotel not clearly visible and easily missed

Won't be staying again.
Not what it looked like in the photos. Very disappointing condition. The photos are either very old or shopped. No one manning reception. A very tired and disappointing hotel and vastly overpriced.

Dirty and needs upgrading urgently
The bar area is lovely but the room was disgusting. A paper thin, rock hard, stained mattress, stains on the walls, carpets and the fabric on the chairs. A random tin of paint on top of the wardrobe and a grubby bathroom.

Dirty and very tired rooms.. smells damp..
Dirty towels bedding and carpet.. Mould in bathroom. Wall paper coming off..broken blind.. faulty tv which was unuseable.. smells damp n mouldy..sleep on top of covers due to the dirt... didnt use shower due to dirty towel..carpet has not been hovered between visits..

Hotel dilapidated disgrace.
The worst hotel experience. Firstly facilities not as described the restaurant was not just available but room boarded up and clearly not used for long time. So no meals available despite paying extra for breakfast on booking. On arrival in rear car park only 3 abandoned cars rusting in corner. Then actually saw rats running from rear of hotel! On checking in had to pay for full reservation before given rom keys. Realised money up front because staff knew state of hotel. Hotel in poor state of repair. Not seen any restoration in years. First room no10 offered was dirty snd stank of bleech plus toilet seat was broken, shower not working. Offered 2nd room no20 which wasnt much better. The whole hotel feels dilapidated, offers little in way of facilitues, generally unkempt to point of being unhabitable. I left after first night! No way i coukd spend second night in this hole! Staff suggested i complain to manager and request refund. However, manager was NOT on site or available.

Terrible Experience
Parts of the hotel were being refurbished and the whole place looked very tired and outdated. The reception was never manned by a member of staff. When I checked in and when I wanted to speak to someone I had to phone and wait for someone to appear. The room was reasonably clean but big damp marks, a very uncomfortable bed, and the mirror in the bathroom was balanced on the towel rail, the TV didn't work and some of the furniture was broken. I was woken up at 2 am by shouting, doors slamming, loud TV, and more noise which went on for over an hour. No breakfast was available despite the fact I had paid for it, because of the refurbishment. The staff tried their best but the whole stay was awful.

Poor Throughout
I booked with breakfast. Got a message in the morning of the booking stating "we don't do breakfast, get a refund through Hotels.com" Arrived, the room had a shoddy little electric heater on full blast to keep the room from being cold. It wasn't warm. The chair next to the desk the base had fallen off and just been rested on the legs. The bed was like a camp bed, every time you moved the springs squeaking. Old and tired throughout. Then to top it off... the worst of it, following a night here in the morning the shower had no hot water. Spoke to the office to be told "yeah sometimes we have an air lock in the pipes..run the hot tap in the bathroom for a bit" Ended up having a strip wash in the sink. I'm sat in a 3 start hotel right now..... believe me, the Regency is nowhere near a 3 star hotel.

Service is generally great in this place, but condition of the place isn’t great at all, a little bit of money should be spent on this place especially in relation to their showers, and just generally, a little bit of decoration wouldn’t go a miss.
