Great price for hotel in this location. Housekeeping was very responsive - especially the day I did not go out until after 3pm. Quite old fashioned decor but huge bed - and the room was clean and comfortable.

Very clean, quiet, professionally run little hotel. Steps away from the British Museum. Within walking distance of so many more sites worth seeing. Staff was always courteous and friendly. Would stay here again.

We were put in the “deluxe suite” with kitchenette in the basement of the hotel. The tv did not work, the stairs to get to our room were steep with no handrails and there was no plug to take a bath. The carpet and walls were worn and stained. The kitchenette was a tiny sink and small microwave. Very disappointing!

Very large and comfortable room, particularly by London standards. Location perfectly centered between Bloomsbury Square and Russell Square. Easy walk to Bloomsbury, Covent Garden, Kings Cross, Fitzrovia, and even Leicester Square (in decent weather).

Complicated - the hotel is basically multiple buildings and it’s time-consuming and confusing. I went to the Portland and was told I had to check in in the Clarendon. Then it turned out I was staying in the Clarendon. Breakfast (which I paid for) started so late (0800) that I couldn’t take it. No discount though. They said they’d leave me a ‘bag of fruit’ at reception the next morning. That never materialised. The room was a lovely size for central London but it was tired with peeling paint and wallpaper, fraying on the bedstead etc. There were no coffee making facilities or iron/ironing board in the room. Not good value at all for £203 a night.

Lovely London accommodation!
Very kind, thoughtful , accommodating and helpful staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. Vast choice. High quality offerings with fruit cheeses eggs and even gluten free options. Very good coffee. Great neighborhood. Close to public transit. Close to ymca for fitness. I would definitely recommend and stay there again as well.

We arrived early and the Hotel was happy to store our luggafe after our 9 day cruise nin the UK. The staff was superb! Friendly and quite helpfgul. The Hotel was immaculate and was quite a gargain when compared to the London area. We would be Happy to stay again in the future

Good location
The stay and the room itself were good. The staff was also good. We found the location to be very good. We didn't know that it didn't have a/c, but that may be an England vs Canada thing. Also, the site said there were 'laundry facilities', but they had none. Fortunately, the Boswell laundromat was only 5 minutes walk away.

There is a laundry facility available. This is where you complete the form found in the desk drawer, place the laundry in the bag provided and leave it at reception. It is then collected in the morning and returned later that day. The charges are added to your room bill. We hope we can welcome you back again.

Very cute boutique hotel in a very handy area close to everything. Under renovatiins outside which meant workers right outside our window at 7am. Had to have windows open as no air conditioning and it was mid-20s outside. A small fan does not help. The backyard space was a mess but could be a very cute place to sit and have a coffee. The staff was lovely, everyone from front desk to cleaning staff.

Customer service was excellent. Room in need of updating as clear signs of wear and tear. Sheets and towels were clean, but the parts of room were caked in dust in all the grooves on every unit.

A gem in the centre of London at affordable prices
I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the room - it was the suite with the little kitchenette. The windows opened over the garden, it was so nice to hear the sound of the birds singing. The bed was firm but comfortable. There was lots of tea (including herbal), coffee, and milk available. Plus a small microwave if needed. The bathroom was large and the water hot with a powerful shower. There were enough towels. The toiletries were particularly nice. They smelt expensive. The staff on reception both when I arrived and the next morning when I left could not have been nicer. And what a surprise... they gave me a complimentary breakfast! It was packed in a bag for collection in reception - juice, fruit, vegetarian sandwich (non-veg was available), yoghurt. I think this is a great find for central London. The location is quiet yet close to Covent Garden and all amenities. I would definitely recommend this gem.

Perfect stay in Bloomsbury London
Really lovely hotel with fantastic staff who went out of their way to make sure I had an amazing three-night stay. Beautiful garden, so quiet and relaxing. My bed was so comfortable. My room was so quiet. The food was excellent. Will definitely stay again plus the location is sensational.

The London Inferno
Welcome to the Inferno. This four star hotel in the centre of London has no air conditioning. I repeat, this hotel has no air conditioning. We stayed there in the middle of a heatwave. I leave the rest to your imagination. Other concerns. The hotel, which might be mistaken for a small independent, is in fact part of a chain. Our original booking was changed at short notice when we were not in position to seek a reasonably priced alternative. We were promised, among other things a complimentary bottle of wine by way of compensation. This did not materialise. Altogether shoddy treatment and an unbearably uncomfortable couple of days.

Magnificent Rooms
Very nice hotel with spacious rooms which are very well furnished. The front door to the property is kept locked at all times which means that the hotel receptionist opens the door for you. The only minor gripes I had about the hotel was that breakfast was at a neighbouring sister hotel (only a couple of doors down) and the TV set in my room was quite dated with poor picture quality. Other than that the hotel is in a great location and I would certainly stay here again.

Nice room and bed, good bathroom facilities and great TV and WiFi available. Nowhere comfortable to sit, though. I had a job meeting the next day and there was no place for me to sit and work or instead watch tv. The chair in the room was completely collapsed, it gave me back pain just by sitting in it. This hotel is tucked away on a relatively quiet street in the midst of a very large, bustling city. The hotel is very close to the British Museum, a wide range of moderate and inexpensive restaurants, and at least two underground stations. The room was quiet and clean. The request for 1 twin bed resulted in a double bed with a firm mattress and lots of pillows. The room had a kitchenette (microwave oven, small fridge, small sink, electric water kettle) supplied with tea and coffee packets and Bisoff cookies -- very welcome after a long day on our feet. The bathroom was narrow but well supplied, clean and bright. One potential downside is using the shower or tub requires carefully stepping over the tub's very high side; with polished floor tiles and no wall mounted grab bars, this might be a risk for some. Meals are served next door at one of the "sister" hotels, which requires stepping outside. The hotel has an elevator. Check in was slow due to a computer issue and a staff trainee, however that was not indicative of the rest of the stay. I would stay here again.
