We made reservations for 3 nights and 6 people at ~$1500+ a night 3 weeks before the start date. My family and I were coming in fromseparate and long distances away for a July 4th reunion. All were ready to leave for Playa del Rey that first Saturday morning (7/1) only to find an email that had just been sent a couple hours earlier (1 a.m. on 7/1) stating that the hotel had been overbooked and we would not have any lodging there after all! My wife and I were just about ready to leave for the airport to catch our flight down at that very moment! I contacted Hotels.com and spoke to Lou who was very apologetic and helpful. Unfortunately she was unable to get anyone to speak to at the hotel itself after several calls. We attempted to look for other accommodations that would meet our needs near Playa del Rey, but given the late date and that it was the long July 4th holiday weekend we could not find anything! Frantically we looked until I found accommodations at The Terranea in RPV. This also meant everyone now needed to make different travel arrangements as this was about 30 miles south of where we initially planned to stay. Needless to say this was very inconvenient and stressful for everyone AND WE DID NOT EVEN RECIEVE ANY FURTHER NOTICE FROM THE ORIGINAL HOTEL UNTIL ABOUT 3 pm THAT SAME AFTERNOON (check in time) telling us there would be a problem with our accommodations! What if all of us had shown up only to find this out once we were attempting to check in???
